I have been lurking for a long while and will soon be coming into around $1,000 but if I save up a bit more after this month into winter I can add up to $2,500. Now I have had a love for all three of these generals and have used many of these guns at least once due to my families collection of them but it's about time I get my own raifu and I'm not sure which to get. I want all your opinions on what I should get with this money important things to note are.

>Virginia
>Lives innawoods
>Ammo and magazines are no issue because I can get some for free from family stockpile.
>I get the $1,000 around next month but if I wait longer I can get much more every month but I will most likely be to driven to buy a gun in winter.
>Enjoy all three of yall so no clue which of you I wanna head down the path of.

You should get an AR15.

You should chamber it in 5.56/.223 Wylde.

You should tell us what you are going to use the rifle for so I can help you further.

Didn't know what picture to put with this so I just grabbed the nicest looking thing I could find in the shortest amount of time.

It is a no brainer. You first rifle should be an AR15

If you live in America you want maximum parts and ammo compatiblity. Right now there are far more ARs in America than AKs. If the happening ever comes, you want the same thing the military is using. Not to mention the market for an AR is just larger and better for the consumer. Slavshit communism simply can't be free market demand.

Believe me, I used to like AKs a lot. I've had 3 and a Golani. The bottom line is that after growing up a little I realized that being an armed citizen/milita means owning an AR.

AR then. It is a no brainer. Even if the AK were objectively better (Which is isn't, but that is a whole other can of worms) the bottom line is that the bandwagon is already like 20 million strong or something.

Come over to /arg/ and we'll help you with a gucci build.

I would prefer to stay here if thats alright to focus on my build with less others talking about other things if that alright. So you think I can get a decent build with around $1,000 or should I definitely save up through the winter?

Buy a ~$600-$700 wasr, spend the rest on an AR build
>>
>>30526164
Its a good chambering for accuracy and pressure resistance.

There are some very accurate and hard use barrels that use it to no neglible effects.

TL:DR

Accurate as a .223 Chamber but can safely run 5.56 all day

You can build a good, 100% reliable AR for 600.

1000 will get you a very nice rifle.

Look for BCM and PSA, get a quality optic, and shoot often.

Happy to help.

I've literally been trying to get all my buds to buy ARs.

>>30526205
For $1000 you can get something perfectly decent, but you'll want to set aside another $200-$600 for an optic.

I would swing by the general. An entire thread dedicated to one build isn't quite right.
>>
>>30526205
You can get a "decent" build for $600 or less with a PSA rifle kit. And my decent I mean it will be just as reliable and only slightly less accurate than any of the "gucci" builds /arg/ salivates over.

If you want to spend $1000 on a rifle then visiting /arg/ is definitely a good idea, if only to figure out which parts you should allocate that extra $400 to.

AR15 by a mile.

see the aftermarket

You can build EXACTLY what you want. If you like battle rifles do an AR10, however the aftermarket isn't as extensive.

To provide an opposing view based on OP's POU:

1. A 7.62x39 AK will take down a deer more reliably than an AR will.
2. The AK aftermarket is fantastic and only getting better.
3. Cost of ammo is slightly lower.
4. I have never bought into the argument that you should choose an AR in the US for maximum "compatibility" when SHTF. The idea that you will be roaming around scavenging ammo and parts is absurd. If you don't have ammo and spare parts stockpiled already you will be fucked.
5. Subjectively, "plinking" 7.62 is more fun than .223.

All that being said you will be just fine with either an AR or an AK. Either way, try to put half of that $2500 into ammo, mags, and spare parts.
>>
>>30526018
Don't worry about a gun, go find the Wizard of OZ and ask for the courage to make your own decisions.
>>
If money and ammo aren't a problem, get an FAL or PTR.
If customization is what you want, well, get an AR10/scar platform

7.62x51 is a more versatile round than either of the intermediate rounds, though a bit more expensive.
But you said that wasn't a problem!

It has a longer effective range than 5.56x45 or 7.62x39, and it's got more energy at shorter ranges.

tl;dr:
/brg/ shill

>>30530082
Thanks man I'll look into getting an RPK since I saw one on sale and always wanted one of those.

So far its looking my way of purchasing something from all 3 is gonna be
>1. AR
>2. AK (Much cheaper so I can get it with whats left over from AR stuff, and a few paychecks.)
>3. BR (The big one I will get after saving for much longer then I did for the AK, and AR most likely a Scar or something of the sorts since fuck it! I wanna operate like operators who operate on operations!!!)
>>
>>30530406
>getting an RPK
RPKs, with their bipods on the end of the barrel, actually have some pretty terrible accuracy issues.

As the barrel heats up, it sags, causing vertical stringing of shots.

Look into a VEPR, they're built on RPK receivers but with 16" barrels

Forever Virginian here, and i'll tell you what i'm getting for a multipurpose innawoods rifle: Pistol pattern Sig MCX. Get the 9" .300 Blk kit for dur and quiet removal, and the 16" 5.56 upper for all your asshalt needs.

Extremely light, flexible, and folds so you can noodle around through brush and branch without getting snagged up.

Unless you've got more to go on than that, that'll be your best bet.

Dude, get a Vepr. It's an AK bolt and carrier in an RPK receiver with rifle furniture, an RPK leaf sight, and an AK front sight.

It's glorious.

So what I'm getting from this is. (Also to add going to buy more then one gun but the way everyone talked on other thread I'll give purchase order first)

Gun type purchase
>1. AR
>2. AK (Preferably with scare cash)
>3. BR (Save a lot overtime aiming for a Scar or something akin to it)

Then for the AR what I thinking you all are getting at so far is.

>16" Barrel
>Midlength gas system
>Get a scope soon after and any other attachment for it (Don't know how much I should save for them.)

Anything other then that I'm missing remember i'm fairly new to buying and making guns I'm just extremely used to handling, and shooting them but I have yet to look much into them so I don't know if this is all I need to know their may be more.

Also here is where I will most likely get my stuff and for anyone else in Virginia try this place.
http://www.colonialshooting.com/

http://www.colonialshooting.com/rva/

I'll likely buy an AR from here and here is their list anything else I should know.

http://www.colonialshooting.com/rva/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2014/10/Freedom-Sale-7-1-16.pdf

Now for the RPK/AK category I will be getting either a basic AK and from what it sounds Vepr is the way to go? and same for the RPK. Anything else I should know from the AK group?

Finally the BR group

All I see is your recommended something in .308, along with FALs What are your thoughts on a Scar or is it just cause the FAL is a cheaper type of BR? Anything else I should know or think about?
>>
>>30530705
Building an AR from parts to get exactly what you want is generally better for the price than buying an off-the-shelf rifle, and MUCH cheaper than buying an off-the-shelf rifle and then upgrading with aftermarket parts.

Also consider that with an AR, if you know what fire controls, trigger, and other lower components you want, you can use that lower with several uppers for whatever else you want.

If you want a Vepr, they make Veprs in nearly every adopted military caliber, including .308, 54r, 7.62x39, 5.56, 5.45, 12 Gauge, and a few others. If you want anything like an AK the Vepr or a Krebs Custom are the best options available.

Of course, there are other "value" minded AK options that cost about half as much, but honestly you should buy the best option once instead of buying an OK option over and over again.

Alright what are your recommended lowers, uppers, fire controls, and triggers? Again fairly new so if i'm gonna make my gun I want as much info as I can get.
>>
>>30530919
Well, I can't tell you what to go for as much as I can warn you away from stuff you don't want. As much as there have been PSA recommendations in this thread, i've seen two components from them structurally fail before, so I wouldn't go that route.

If you're familiar with the manual of arms with an AR15 or so you will probably have the best idea what kinds of parts to pursue. Don't pay a huge price premium for a plastic part unless it's actual dupont polymer you're getting. If you're going with a lighter or heavier BCG make sure to get the correct spring and buffer to balance it out. Consider what your back pressure will be like so you aren't getting your sinuses pumped full of post-combustion gasses from the impingement.

AR15s are the barbie gun because damn near everything is user servicable and replacable. Look up each individual part seperately, compare it against other similar parts in the market to find the one you like the most, and get that one.

Treat it like a woman treats putting together an outfit. Try on every pair of shoes at the store, check for differences between the rose gold and bleached salmon, and have fun doing it.

I mean, is there something specifically you need to know?
