>>
>>30525428
They're overpriced, but they are 10/10 utilitarian optics.

PROS:
-Very good to great glass quality
-Built like tanks
-Lots of reticles, magnification levels, design features to choose from
-Resale value tends to hold for a good while
-Usually ships with a mount that works well enough to not HAVE to switch

Cons:
-eyelash-tier eye relief on the 4x models
-overpriced by $300-$600
>>
>>30525465
>Nightforce
>1-6
NF is still based as fuck

Honestly everything I've had that would compete with the ACOG has been a low power variable and they don't stick around long on account of being bulky/heavy for 4x.

That and lots of the same people who talk about how utilitarian the 1-4x or 1-6x optics are have a red dot or reflex offset for their 1x shooting.

Magnifiers are literal hot garbage and should not be mentioned.

I'm sure someone makes some much cheaper but still reliable fixed 4x optics.

Nothing of comparable quality. Even Vortex squeezed out a stinker with the lackluster spitfire.

The closest you'll get for less is a Browe sport optic for $800 or their acog clone for $900

Actually not haha, I like the brace just fine. I'm more concerned these days with terminal ballistics out of the 10.5" and the barrel that is in there is a cheaper on anyway. I'm considering re-barreling both my ARs from 10.5" and 16" to 14.5"+MD and an 18" for better terminal ballistics with M193 and other commonly available ammunition. The 14.5+MD with stock collapsed actually should be around the same overall length as my 10.5" since the Shockwave doesn't adjust easily for obvious reasons.

14.5"+MuzzleD should bring the barrel to 16", then I shouldn't need a form 1.

>>30526270
Sweet $45, thanks for the info man. Any idea how much a shop charges to swap a barrel? I'm pretty sure I can reuse the gas tube and block from the 10.5" if I get a carbine length 14.5"

Should I just buy a vice and tools to do it myself since I'm considering re-barreling my 16" to an 18" also?

>>30526295
Hey man!

Are you planning on eventually having a second AR? I originally was planning on just one rifle, so I got a 16", but in hindsight I wish I had built that first one with the second in mind.

With the election on the horizon don't underestimate the importance of several thousands rounds of ammo and a bunch of magazines. I'm at thirty or so 30 rounders.

I'm considering rebarreling my 20" to 18" to shorten it up a little, and to make it lighter.
You could just rebarrel to 14.5 and keep the brace, then form 1 it, that's what I'd do I think.
Or form 1 then get a 14.5 once I get the stamp.

>I'm pretty sure I can reuse the gas tube and block from the 10.5" if I get a carbine length 14.5"
Assuming it's a 7" carbine gas system most 10.5 barrels have then yes should be no problem.

Why don't you just disassemble the upper yourself? It's not terribly difficult. I'd guess most shops wouldn't charge any more than doing a blind pin. Adco has upper disassembly for $40

If you're buying a prebuilt upper don't worry too much about the length of the gas system. It does make a difference, but for your first AR I wouldn't worry about it.

If you're only going to have one rifle I'd go with a 16"

If you're considering building a longer rifle later on, then go for a 14.5+MD. Only problem with that is when it comes to prebuilt upper there are fewer options in 14.5+Muzzle device.

The new rail on your 20" looks good man. I prefer it over the diamondback just because it is a little less space gun and more traditional.

I wouldn't want a 14.5+MD and at 10.5" though. My biggest issue isn't even doing a form 1, it is ammo and terminal ballistics. Some anon the other day showed that M193 stops reliably fragmenting out of a 10.5" around 35 or 40 yards!

>>30526511

It's simple enough, and a chink special vice from Harbor Freight is adequate. You'll need a torque wrench that can do 30-80 ft lbs and get a _standard_ AR armorer's wrench.

Also, really consider the advice here about pinning a 14.5 >>30526639

Changing it once it's on is not impossible but it is an annoyance paying someone else for work that can easily be done yourself to avoid committing a felony.

Whataburger is great. And there is absolutely no reason to write a letter to the ATF asking if the Cheek saddle is okay to use with the Shockwave.

Perfectly good lowers but in my opinion the stupid fucking memes plastered all over them are cringe worthy. Guns kill people. There is no reason to throw memes all over one.

You want to take a dremel and level off both of the clamp pieces so that the insides are flat like pictured.

Once again please do not write the ATF a stupid fucking letter asking if this is okay to do. It is 100% legal until they say otherwise. There is a whole thread on AR15.com explaining how shouldering a brace used to be legal until enough chucklefucks wrote letters asking for mommy and daddy's permission.

The Diamondhead was 19.7oz including the barrel nut and screws, Geissele is 14.6oz with barrel nut and screws.
You'd be able to try out 2-5 muzzle devices for that 200$ price tag, but it would have to be pinned/ welded unless you left the brace on at first.
If you're leaving the brace on it might work better for you to try MD's and get your favorite pinned. (I'm just kind of opposed to pinning since I can't do it myself nor can I remove it, and I don't want to send someone my rifle to modify it for me)

I found the actual write up.

I’m going to post the pictures of my Shockwave brace modified to fit a CAA SST1 cheek saddle. I couldn't find anything detailing an actual install anywhere on the web. Someone put an MFT cheek saddle on a Shockwave, but they mounted it backwards, and I don't think it is as secure as my solution. Most of the picture that we’ve seen of cheek saddles and Shockwaves are either secured with double sided velcro, zip ties, or are just resting on there for a picture. I'm pretty sure this is an internet first.

I sincerely implore anyone considering this modification to refrain from contacting the ATF regarding the legality. Both the CAA SST1 cheek saddle and the Shockwave are completely legal to use as intended (cheek/forearm stabilization), so there is no reason why the combination of the two, used as intended, should be anything other than completely legal. If you write the ATF asking them if the combination is legal you are opening up the opportunity for them to say no. There is absolutely no reason to give them that opportunity. Previously an AR15.com user wrote a letter to the ATF asking if a particular sling mount combined with the CAA cheek saddle was legal. It was legal, until he wrote the letter, and then the ATF decided that it was illegal. That's how it works. Don't write them a letter. We're grown ass men. Some of us have used federally illegal drugs like cocaine, acid, ecstasy, and mushrooms. Many of us speed occasionally. This country was built on individual rights, and individual responsibility. Take the individual responsibility and don't write a fucking letter.

In that case I'd strongly recommend a muzzle device that can mount a can if you're going to pin it. I'm going to have to pay $90 to install a new muzzle device on my 14.5 because I went with an extended A2 two years ago when I thought I would never be interested in the "hassle" of owning a can.

I could easily do all the work myself in less than an hour with tools I already own. Don't be me.

Below are links to the ATF letters establishing the legality of the Shockwave and the CAA cheek saddle used independently for their intended purposes as pistol braces. This is all that we, as responsible law abiding American citizens, need in order to combine and use the two products as INTENDED, as braces. Use your fucking brains. There is also linked an open letter from the ATF regarding stabilizing pistol braces and intended use. Educate yourself and read it as well.

The next step isn't entirely necessary but I always like an excuse to go to the hardware store. The hex head cap screws that come with the SST1 might not be long enough to pass through the body of the Blade. I can't remember but I'm pretty sure they are metric M3 or M4 cap screws. I went and got some longer ones, I think they are 10mm or 5mm longer than the ones that came with SST1.

Next you've got to start modifying the actual Blade brace. You're going to want to dremel off the top strap loop, as well as a couple of the triangular support pieces that connect the "fin" of the blade to the tube section.

Once those triangular supports are gone, start grinding the face of the fin down so that it is flat enough to interface securely with the now flat clamp pieces that came with the SST1.

Line the clamps up against the fin and drill two holes for the screws to pass through.

Lastly attach the SST1 cheek saddle to the clamp pieces.

When you dremel the rear strap loop off of the Shockwave brace you also need to round off the back of the brace. It comes pretty angular and square but the SST1 cheek saddle is meant to go on a buffer tube. This means dremeling of a decent amount of material to get it round. I've had no negative effects on the structural integrity of my brace and I've put about 600 rounds through it and a bunch of innawoodsing.

As you can see the addition of the SST1 cheek saddle does increase the surface area on the rear, but not noticeably so and you're not going to shoulder it anyway.

I ran into a Sheriff in the woods a month ago while I was carrying my 10.5" pistol with the Shockwave/Cheek saddle combination. He looked the pistol over and actually checked it out a decent bit, but didn't comment on it other than pointing out that my KAK Flash Can wasn't actually a KX3, and telling me I should just buy a can.

Bear in mind this is in Colorado, and the guy was ex special forces.

People forget the importance of social cohesion in any society. If these fuckers don't assimilate they will break down the social and philosophical bonds which tie us together as brothers and citizens.

I'm not going to enter into a social contract with some backwards ass honor killing, homophobic, sexist, behead the infidels, fuck freedom of religion and speech, shithead.

It is ironic because the biggest supporters of multiculturalism are also fucking socialists, and socialist societies need a great deal of social cohesion/ value homogeneity, or they need authoritarian fuck your individual rights governments.

Oh. It's not racist to demand that immigrants learn the language and respect the culture of the country they are moving to.

Mexicans come here to "escape Mexico" then turn around and try to make the US just like the shithole they are trying to escape.

If you move to a country, you learn their language and culture, period.

You following the Clinton news?

You better be.

From my fb:

I am absolutely disgusted, and I've lost a great deal of faith in the credibility of the Justice Department. The FBI has chosen to not recommended the prosecution of Hillary Clinton, however anyone who thinks that the recommendation was a truly bottom up decision is simply blind to the unbridled influence of the most painfully obvious oligarchs in this country. The bottom line is that the FBI and others have continuously leaked evidence of Hillary Clinton hosting SAPs and other highly confidential national secrets on her private server, all while taking in hundreds of millions of dollars in donations through the Clinton Foundation from international interests and other private entities. If this doesn't reek of corruption then I'm not sure what does. Hillary is the "presumptive" democratic nominee who only has such a title because of media bias. Meanwhile our second amendment rights are being eroded as the world slips into greater global instability.
The Clinton Foundation is a hub of nepotism, influence, and what is essentially international organized crime, not in the realm of illicit drugs or trafficking, but rather the forcible extortion and enslavement of sovereign citizens in this country and in others. The American people have been betrayed on multiple levels, and Hillary Clinton has continually leveraged her political career towards the presidential office through treason and fraud.

Please take the time to peruse through a couple of the links I posted. Together they begin to paint only a shallow picture of what has been transpiring.
Interestingly enough, in the past several days the Wiki page for the Clinton Foundation has been changed to no longer include their comprehensive donor list. The list of donors can still be found, albeit shrouded in a greater deal of obfuscation.
"To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now.
-James Comey, Director of the FBI
