First thread, new to /k/

I'm moving from Aus to BC Canada in the next month, and I was wondering how difficult it is to get Mosins in Canada, particularly M39 variants. I've always had a love of Mosins from afar, and if I'm coming to a country that lets me own one I want to make sure I'm getting one of the best versions made.

Price isn't a concern, I'm just wondering what the best method of obtaining one would be, what website is reputable, etc.

Being from Aus, goes without saying I'm a first gun buyer. I know fuck all about the market.

Canadian from BC here

It easy and relatively cheap still
Had a 91/30 shipped to me about 2months ago for 200$

Pic related my nugget and sks's
>>
>>30521536
I know it's not the exact modle you want but for a lil extra you could find one
>>
>>30521609
Very nice, I'm surprised they're still that cheap. I'd been online looking for 910/30's in general and everything I found came up in the 350-550 range. Hopefully my local supplier isn't an ass. I've heard horror stories just from reading other threads.
>>
>>30521628
91/30* obvious typo.

How restricted are they, btw? Any specifics I'd need to apply for in addition to a regular licence?
>>
>>30521628
I bought mine from bullseye London 200$ for the gun 50 for shipping got it about a week later and in very nice condition no nics or scratches just need to restain her and yea that's pretty expensive god damn but yea even my local gun store sells nuggets for 200 SKS for 230
>>
>>30521637
Nope they are classified as non restricted I strap mine to the front of my dirt bike and ride around
>>
>>30521637
They're not. Bolt guns are essentially totally unrestricted in Canada all the way up to .50BMG.
>>
>>30521637
So yea you just need your pal, safe locked place to store it or trigger lock and your good to go
>>
>>30521654
I was genuinely expecting over a grand. Not kidding. I'd heard M39's were drying up, maybe I was misinformed.

200 bucks is a drop in the bucket, jesus. If you guys could see how much even a range rifle costs here in Aus you guys would have renal failure.
>>
Thanks for all the honest feedback by the way, much appreciated. Nice to find a board on 4chan that isn't entirely cancerous.
>>
>>30521723
No worries guy and also I'm not sure how much a m39 would be I've never actually looked for one, only m44 and the one 91/30 I got
>>
If you can find one and are willing to spend a little more, the Finnish M39 in particular is the Mosin you want, beefier furniture and generally better made than the Russian counterpart

Also consider SVT-40, legal in Canada, import banned in the US, essentially an auto-nugget

I want a svt so bad but I can't find any at all

Feels bad.jpg
>>
>>30521819
Yeah the Fin nugget was the one I was after in the first instance. Like I said if I want a nugget I want a good and accurate one.

I'll look into the SVT-40, not heard of that before. Though honestly, I prefer bolts over auto and semi rifles. Just a tactile and nostalgic thing I guess. Learnt to shoot at 12 on a bolt .303, guess the attraction stuck.
>>
Holy fuck, I just looked at my future local stores. Check this fucking guy's website. Hold me. I thought these people were a bad joke.

it's perhaps the best rifle to troll people with at the range, when using aftermarket parts. Also demonstrates the pure silliness of some of the laws are.

This can't be real.
>>
>>30521536
i just looked around, there seem to be very few m39s in canada, lurk around canadiangunnutz and one should come up at around $750 eventually.

kind of a jump considering they are going for about $300 right now vs $200 for an m91/30 in the US
>>
>>30521894
>>30521970
I don't understand why cant this be real?
>>
>>30522091
I think they mean all the conspiracy mumbo thats on the site in various places. Aside from that it seems fine.
>>
>>30522133
it's not like the nsa isn't spying on you
>>
>>30522089
Thats what I found when I was looking, too. That's ok, as a first gun buyer I might be better off with a cheaper rifle anyway, since it's a smaller investment when I'm still getting set up for future additions.
>>
>>30522217
an m39 is better, but i wouldn't say it's four times better than a nice hex nugget. if your just looking for a shooter. oh and i own both so i'm not just talking out my ass.
>>
>>30521841
People are selling a few on the CGN Equipment Exchange at the moment. Otherwise it's pretty tough to find them out there at the moment.
>>
>>30521819
Too bad good Finn Nuggets you can see before buying are unicorns in the US.
>>
>>30521676
yep 10 on the rack for $200/ea at my local canadian tire
>>
>>30521536
If you are in BC, look at WestRifle's website. The have some decent prices. For standard 91/30s. Trying to find M39s are much harder and highly sought after on the second hand market
>>
>>30521676
They best be joking about M39s. Ive only seen them for $600-$1300 on the second hand market. They go fast too
>>
>>30521536

M39's arren't easy to find, as many have said. However, a local CT will have at least a good 5 on the rack for 150-200 bucks in addition to a billion SKS'. The SKS may actually be a better option. Semi with cheap ammo, and it's only marginally more expensive Happy shooting and welcome to Canada Ausbro.
>>
>>30527110
No one in canada has a M39 for $200.
>>
>>30521676
he's talking about a 91/30

i would also like to mention an interesting phenomena at the canadian border where after a little online discussion, people loose svts then spontaneously find a rifle they had wished for propped up against a tree.

Serious questions as a retarded noguns: Is there really a non-collectible, nonprice reason to buy an M39 over a VEPR in terms of practicality? I'd imagine semiautomatic vs bolt action would be an obvious choice, even if the nugget were slightly more accurate. Plus cheap surplus is supposedly not as big of a plus now as it was just a few years ago. And what's the general consensus of that alleged last big batch ever of M39s from that one guy featured on IV8888?
>>
>>30528178
you could snipe harder with an m39. also, in the US, some m39s built on pre-1898 receivers are legally antiques, so you can mail them across the country with no ffl involvement, felons could buy them (no ammo though,) and there are probably a few other legal perks.
