hi /k/ i am absolutely sure tou cant beet a .22 bolt gun as an all round shtf survival gun. You can easy carry over 2000 rounds in your pack and on your person. Well placed shots can drop any game. It aint the all powerful man stopper but it will get you outta trouble no worries.
>>
>>30520671
Air rifle beats it. It's like a .22 but runs on air and ammo takes up even less space and is reusable.
>>
In what scenario would you actually need 2000 rounds of anything besides mad max mode?
>>
I totally agree. Not super powerful but still great for SHTF situation

break action rifle / shotgun combo that can change calibers. It wont break on you and you can scavenge different types of ammo.
>>
>>30520691
True. Those tins of 500 dont take much room at all
>>
>>30520700
The X caliber would suit a shtf survival situation perfectly
>>
I think shotguns take the cake for all around utility in a shtf scenario. You got slugs, buck shot, birdshot. Its something you can actually depend on to drop someone too. Of course ammo weight and size constraints are an issue. Depends on the situation really

Mad max multiple looters
>>
>>30520700
I Don't understand how that'd work
>>
>>30520774
It's basically two single-shot guns combined into one stock.

They would probably have bigger guns than u m8 if they were looters.
>>
>>30520797
Like I said it depends on the situation really. No one gun fills all roles. An AR is a defensive gun first and does everything else well. A .22 is hunting gun first and defensive capabilities are mediocre. And a shotgun is a proven defensive and hunting gun. If your in a situation where you need to bug out for a short period to another location, maybe you dont even need 100 rds. Maybe you need the gun loaded just in case and maybe 1 round to take a squirrel for dinner. Not all shtf scenarios are going to be total chaos root'n toot'n shoot outs 24/7
>>
>>30520671
.22 magnun is way better.
>>
Tbh my pick in a SHTF scenario would be a .308 with a .22 pistol as a sidearm.
>>
>>30520774
It's an over under. But it has a .22 barrel and a 12 gauge barrel
>>
>>30520691
An air rifle is great but if you live in an area with dangerous game bring a shotgun either pump or single because it's better and more versatile than .22 in nearly every way. If you don't bring thise easily reloadable brass shells and reloading supplies you're fucked
>>
>>30520760
I reload a piece of 00 buck onto 3 grains of fast pistol powder and a magnum primer for my 3006, great for squirrel up to turkey and not as loud as a .22.
I load a 165 grain soft point for everything else, ammo takes up less space and weighs less than 12 gauge, sure i cant shoot a bird on the wing but i can shoot a deer at 300 yards. For the space of 100 12 gauge shells i can fit 1k primers, 1/2lb of pistol powder, my lee loader, and a shitload of buckshot to make my small game loads.

Love my Marlin
>>
>>30525674
Do they make these in .22 mag
>>
>>30525738
I don't know check the marlin website.
>>
>thinks he will survive hunting small game and foraging
>hasn't buried caches of rice, beans and seeds
>thinks carrying around a .22 when your #1 threat will be hungry humans is the best option
>>
>>30525850
Surprisingly easy to starve on just small game and yes sealed deoxidized bins of beans, rice, potato flakes, and oats is a cheap easy and effective set of hedge foods. Also water big need for water. Even if it's only an improvised charcoal bucket filter with a tiny (carefully measured) amount of bleach or iodine taste sucks but so does emergency issues
>>
>>30520730
Sure, if you want to carry an extra 5lbs of steel inserts that are basically snub noses, all with wildly different poa/poi.

I would rather carry a real rifle or shotgun and a generic handgun like a G23 with spare 9mm and .357 sig barrels. You could have a 22/45Lite and ammo instead. You could have a S&W governor instead.

The guy that designed the x-caliber blew his own thumb off ffs.

>Can drop any game
As long as you're within a very short range you may be able to take deer. 25 or 15 meters. Past that, larger game has thick strong bones and meat that you are not getting past with the cartridge. Don't get me wrong. .22 is great. But not that great.
>>
>>30520691
Slingshot is better. It's light than and air rifle and ammo is everywhere
