Your best tip for getting through basic training.
>forget everything you know about guns if you've never been in the service. They'll teach you from the bottom up.

Sound advice Ohpee.
Theres nothing worse than standing out.

Always try to be the very best.
Make sure your DI sees you preforming well, this is crucial.
Offer to do extra shit, this shows you have a go to attitude.

>Offer to do extra shit, this shows you have a go to attitude.
It also shows you're willing to do an even larger amount of monotonous bullshit,
which they will take advantage of.
>>30519468
Pff, please, if they needed extra jobs done and you didn't offer to do them you would not become their favorite.

Nothing like arguing with a superior about fixing headspace when they're yelling at you to use more oil.
Just shut up and do what you're told. No more, no less.
If you steal the boonie you unlock godlike powers and a jet pack like from San Andreas.
When you're asked to do something do it as fast as possible
I've always maintained 3 rules for life in the Forces.
1. Never volunteer for anything.
2. Maintain the grey man status at all times.
3. The system always wins.
If You volunteer for stuff, it's never to your advantage. Theres always a catch.
If you're really good at something, you'll get given more to do. If you're bad at it, you'll get given more to do.
If anyone tell you that 'the ball is in your court' or 'it pays to be a winner', the ball is never in your court. You're playing the systems game and the system always wins. If you win, you're given more to do for the system.
Its a fairly drab outlook on things, and you might expect more of millitary people. But when the system controls every aspect of your life and you're on their clock 24/7, you need to make your advantages where you can.
Another top tip. Use the millitary and milk it for all its worth. Feather your own nest from day 1. A shitty computer course gets you out of 2 days barrack duties? Take it. It will all add up for when they shake your hand and let you go.

God tier advice here gentlemen. I've always maintained the worst thing you can do as an enlisted man is to display anything more than competence. If people think you're dumb, you get sent to do dumb work. If they think you're smart, you get overtasked. Maintain grey man status.

Fitness.
Get fit and strong before you join. You are going to have enough shit to deal with. You don't want to be the stand out lard-ass or weakling that will require extra training to get up to speed.
Being fit removes a lot of anxiety when you start off.
Don't be a puss with minor niggles or injuries. Again you don't want to draw unnecessary attention to yourself by reporting sick all the time with minor stuff.

>>30519889
Yeah these. Don't listen to anyone telling you to stand out or over acheive.
If I had any other advice to giveit would just be whenever you're feeling down or feeling stressed from the yelling etc. Remember it's all a part of the syllabus and it isn't forever

What branch could I join with a GED.
What branch could I join that lets me go someplace and shoot guns?
>>30519074
Stand out,
Enjoy it,
actually try to learn the shit, you're there because you wanted to be.

It doesn't even fucking matter. The moment you leave basic, your DS will forget everything about you and they'll prepare for the next cycle. Doesn't matter if you think you're they're favorite,
>>30519875
This. Just don't stand out, and you'll be okay.

Being the average guy nobody notice

You'd fit in with the marines, but they require a diploma.
Say yes to every order
Every, fucking order.
That applies to your entire army career
>>30519685
Are you talking about boonie bob?
>>30519994
No negative attention, no positive attention. You do your job well, but not well enough to stand out as exceptional.
I sent my cousin a black dildo when he was in basic. The DIs had a lot of fun with that
>>30519994
Don't ever fuck up, but at the same time don't excel anywhere.
>>30519911
This
The fitter you are the less exhausted and more energy you'll have to avoid falling asleep in class with.
Always remember to just play the game. Yes it sucks get over it, everyone goes through it and it'll be finished faster then you think. And if you do have a positive attitude you'll find a lot of quite enjoyable experiences while at basic.
