Turns out he was a Russian sleeper agent the whole time. Eric caught him trying to transmit launch codes over a walkie talkie. They got into a fight but Barry was ready with his Sir High Point armor and managed to escape. He kidnapped Eric's wife and framed Eric for espionage as well. While on the run from the Feds Eric tracked Barry to the top of Mount Rushmore where another epic fight ensued. This time Eric got the upper hand and handcuffed Barry. Then Eric's phone rang and the president informed him that he'd been watching the fight live from a drone which was prepared to take them both out, along with Eric's wife. The president said even with the fight he wasn't sure he could trust him. To prove his loyalty to the U.S. Eric had to put Barry down. Chad is also actually a government agent keeping an eye on Eric for the president as additional insurance, but Eric doesn't know that.
