Pretty anemic armament for a capital ship.
>>
>>30517092
It's a "capital ship" the same way an aircraft carrier is a capital ship. It's not intended to stand in the line of battle, it's a specialized support ship.

>>30517092

I love the interdictor to bits but let's face it: it's a support craft best suited for hanging back behind a ImpStar or a couple of Escort Carriers and working its grav-magic

Cobra-class Destroyers (smallest warp capable ships in the IN) are 1.5km.

Battleships do bounce around 12km, larger for vessels like Gloriana-class and Abyss-class

it could probably take anything smaller than the moncal ships

hell a wingless MC80 would give it a close fight. it still has alot of turbolasers, ion canons, shields and armor

Not to mention maintenance costs are more than they should need to be, because when the gravity wells are operating it's pulling lots of small debris into the hull that's beating the piss out of it. Probably needs rebuilt every fucking week if it's seeing regular use. Unless they pulled some OP shielding protection cop out.

Here's a question for you.

If you were a retired officer from the original Empire, would you support the First Order?

I wouldn't.

1. I'd be breaking my word.
2. The Republic hasn't broken its own to me.
3. The First Order is insane.
>>
>>30517050
It's shape is limited by its need to be aerodynamic despite it never being able to come close to an atmosphere.
>>
>>30517050

>>

Considering I've never been to /wgg/ (whatever that this), I don't think so.
>>

>>
>>30521713

No. It's a typo. I just got up.
>>
>>30521372 makes an interesting point.

What's to stop some ballsy hot shot corvette pilot from doing a dive bomb on one of these but instead of explosives, they drop a 25 ton block of durasteel?

The gravity well generators would accelerate it to high speeds and the impact would have the energy equivalent of a multi-megation yield nuke.
>>
>>30521753
Then nevermind, i thought you were a wargame player, who posted shit about starwars all the time.

my bad
>>
>>30517433
Cruisers (most common type of ship) are 5-7km long. Battleships are 10-12km long, space marine battle barges are 20-30km.

People call it excessive (like everything else in 40k), but it sort of makes sense in the context of the setting; these ships are built all over the galaxy by drastically different cultures and groups of people (some could probably barely even be called humans at all), so no two are alike. They're also built to last thousands of years and routinely cross thousands of light years, so they need to be massive to accomdate their crews and replacement components.
>>
>>30517278
it wont. not even like you need to guide in objects to hit that thing
>>
>>30521777

Nah.

But I am disappointed the new Star Wars movie conveniently swept that issue (how would long-retired Imperials perceive the First Order?) under the rug.

>>
>>30521809
could you explain to me what the first order even is? How do they have all the tech and resources to make them look and act like the empire with empire stuff and super weapons? Is there a Senate? Do they control a big empire to sustain all their shit?
>>
>>30521597
Capital ships in the Star Wars universe can enter atmosphere by using repulsors.

They seem to be the largest of the "Imperial remnant" factions, and control a lot of the infrastructure / resources the Empire used to have. There doesn't seem to be a senate, but then again the Empire didn't have a senate after ANH either. They seem to control part of the galaxy, with the New Republic controlling some of the rest.

>>
>>30521529

>>
>>30522160
There were a lot of things I was upset over being reduced to "legend" status in the SW canon. The Force Unleashed games weren't among them.
>>
>>30517050
too much room and enegy dedicated to the gravitational interdiction systems.
if he turn them, he is also anchored in place and probably makes his whole fleet move sluggish and also prevent them from hyper jump
>>
>>30521802
that thing generate massive gravitational field, you need guidance NOT TO hit it.
hell, a ship that is a literal shell magnet, brilliant.

star wars has pretty strong shields, even the death star can take poundings from hyperaccelatered debris

>>30521756

that would be a problem, if fucking clone wars era ships weren't rated for the high gigatons. something like a couple of megatons would be more useless than the hotshot pilot strafing it with blasters
>>
>>30522375
If Imperial ships really were rated for the high gigatons, why did asteroids present such a threat to them?

Only the Vengeful Spirit was that large, and it was the winner of the dick measuring contest during the great crusade of " my flag ship is bigger". With the runners up in order being the Hrafnkel, the Iron Blood, and the Conqueror. They are all close in length (just over 24 km) & tonnage and after them the size of flagships fall off. The next largest is Macragge's Honour at 23.2 km.

Then the Horus heresy happens and WB felt the need to win round 2 of said dick measuring contest badly. They made 3 ships larger then the Vengeful Spirit and made sure they looked very different from other capital ships. Those are the abyss-class made up of the Furious Abyss, Trisagion, and the Blessed Lady.
