Fuck off you butthurt shitty little "artist". This is a thread for good stuff, not your half-hearted garbage.
>>30514357
You don't even know what you are talking about. Good art is supposed to provoke feelings in the viewer, and those watercolor paintings do that very well. Therefore they are to be considered, according to me, "good art". These other paintings, while complex and full of detail, they are devoid of emotion.
>>30514401

>>30514375
And shut the fuck up, hippy
>>30514557
That painting provokes feelings due to the subject matter. Skillfully made, yes. Talented? No. A good painting provokes feelings regardless of what it depicts.

Yeah, because you made them.
The fact that you think we can't figure this out is laughable. You are so utterly, transparently butthurt about your shitty garbage that nobody feels like giving you ass-pats for.
Just let it go, faggot. And get better at making art while you're at it.
>>30514628
What kind of dumbass faggery is this? A painting of an apple could bring out feelings if you had emotional investment in it.
>Skillfully made, yes. Talented? No.
You're a goddamn idiot if you think a skilfully made painting did not come from a talented artist.

You think that's rough? A relative of mine was in the scout trooper corps, survived the Invasion of Hoth, just to be thrown off his bike and slammed into a tree by Luke "Jedi are Warriors of Peace" Skywalker himself. Spent 3 months floating in a bacta tank.
>>30514674
Your entire argument(you're not even addressing mine) is based on your assumption that I made those paintings. I can assure you, if i could paint that well with watercolors I would not spend my time here on /k/.

>>30516671
It is not about detail or perspective, it is about what emotion the image evokes. If the work is able to show you the moment and what it represents, than how it is delivered does not matter.
This is why modern art can still be art. It may be without detail or apparent purpose, but if it can make you feel something, or give you some appreciation for it, then it is indeed art.

Art should either be pretty, so the simple act of looking it is pleasing, or provoke something in the viewer.
While I do detest people who make meaningless crap and call it art because 'true art is incomprehensible' or hide behind confusing bullshit like it's deep meaning, I fail to see how something cannot be considered 'true art' unless it strives to be photo-realistic or some such bullshit.
I mean it's like they've never heard of the Impressionist movement.

One cannot judge art in the same way one could judge a sport, even one typically considered artistic in its way, art has always been considered something that ever changing. In its early state it had the purpose of capturing a moment or recording as a visual representation of the act. But, in all mediums, has always been subjected to change. From the fairly 2d and lifeless images and woodcuts from before the black death, into more depressing and symbolic works inspired by the death itself, to the Renaissance where perspective and realism became a standard. To say that change in art must not occur is to say to artists of the Renaissance "perspective and your change has no place here, for art is something which has a set style that is not to be changed." Art cannot be held to a standard, for it is ever changing and can be represented in any medium, and maybe requires a little thought. One cannot take modern art at its face value. Consider the Murdercube, it weighs nearly 20 tons and took over 5 years to source and construct. If it considered literally it is a welded pile of guns. If thought about, one can consider the work put in and what it was built to represent. Art used to capture a point in time has gone to photography and videography rather than painted or sculpted art. Art is to invoke emotion and a sense of beauty, done through a way that is most accessible to the people.
Go see it yourself. Do not study the interpretations made by others, go and make your own. Do not dismiss it as bullshit because you have been told it is bullshit, take a good long stare, think about the artist's though process, think why each element is included and why it is the way it is. In most cases there is a reason for everything, and something it aims to be or represent. Listen not to biased youtube man, form your own opinions based on actual contemplative viewing of the work itself.
And yes, you do come off as a crying toddler

Reminds me of a time at college. Every year or so they host some new art exhibit, usually outside. Something sturdy enough to withstand midwest winters and big enough to be noticed.
The last one was just a truck. An old truck, big wooden frame cargo area in back. There were splotches of mismatched paint and obviously jury rigged repairs here and there. It was loaded with a bunch of oil drums of different colors and types, and crates and boxes and other random stuff, and just sat there without explanation or description.
My friends and I all thought it was rubbish, the kind of pretentious modern art we hated. We happened to meet up randomly, the four of us, walking back from classes at the end of the day, and we were standing near it. One of us started talking about how stupid it was and how it wasn't art.
So we all started talking about how stupid it was, wondering what they could be thinking to call this art. We kept discussing it, what it could mean, what were they thinking, where was it from, why was it carrying what it was.
Then, eventually, we realized that we'd been standing in ankle deep snow for an hour talking about it and puzzling through its potential meaning, and realized that anything which could prompt people to stand outside in winter discussing it for an hour was probably some kind of art.

>>30522370
All art has dumb unskilled examples.
We only think people in the distant past made perfect masterworks of flawless skill and artistic vision because without something like the internet to chronicle every single one, only the masters were remembered while most everyone else was left forgotten.
It's easier to hate something on general principle than to actually put effort into understanding. Yes, a pair of abandoned glasses being considered art is dumb.
Or is it. Think about it.
For how many years has someone worn those glasses. All day, every day, for year after year. Literally every single thing that person has seen for a good chunk of their lives has passed through those lenses, bending the light so that they could see the world more closely to what it truly is.
Is that reaching for straws? Yes. But it took more effort and mental capacity than just saying "This example is dumb and therefore everything like it is dumb, and I'm smarter for agreeing that it's dumb."
If all you want from art is perfect recreations of objective reality, go find some photographs and be content in not ever having to think about what you're looking at.
>>30522730
>Yes, a pair of abandoned glasses being considered art is dumb.
It wasn't even "considered art". It was just 1 picture of 1 person taking a picture of some glasses in an indistinct location.

>>30522747
I was speaking in more general terms on how a pair of glasses might be considered to have some kind of artistic value.
Personally I would do more than just find a pair of glasses and put them out to be seen, a display of a series of them from various periods of history and from all around the world. A soldier in WW1, a frontier explorer, someone who climbed a previously untouched mountain.
Even if you decide it's rubbish, have that decision come from careful consideration. Declaring things worthless because it's not orthodox is why so many people recognized as masters today were ridiculed and outcasts in their own time.
