Any accessories or modifications you guys recommend? Be gentle, I just converted from a mini-14 guy.

I have a SW MP AR15. They're ok ARs.

first thing to do is replace the front sight post/gas block with a low profile gas block. Then put on a freeloating hand guard like a Troy Alpha.

change out the A2 flash suppressor muzzle device with quality muzzle brake like a Miculek.

quality metal iron sights. Kinghts Armaments makes good ones that fold down, compact, and you can adjust the rear for range.

so, generic stock/grip/trigger aside, you're basically just telling them to keep the barrel, bgc, and receivers
then what's the point of saying it's okay?

>>30510883
what are you going to do if someone here said it was garbage? return it? nope. sure, tell us you bought an AR in the fucking AR thread, but don't seek shopping gratification from us in a stand alone thread

I bought an M&P15 years ago. Aside from a defective spring that needed to be changed out to keep proper bolt hold open, I have had zero problems with it over the years.

As for accessories, I'm the kinda guy who will tell you not to go crazy with it until you shoot a bit an figure out what you like. I ended up going with a Ergo grip, Troy BUIS, free float rail, and low profile gasblock.

For now, until you decide to put a bunch of stuff on the rifle though, those plastic grips as actually quite comfy. I'd keep them until you get another good set, don't settle for quadrails, which suck.

>barrel, bgc, and receivers

Probably because those are the parts that actually make the gun function, and they do that just fine.
>>
Not op but I just got the same rifle and want to free float it. Is there anything I should know about gas blocks or will any chink shit from amazon work fine?
>>
you people could've saved a shitload of money just building an AR
>>
>>30511811
I bought mine for $550.

Realistically, including the cost of tools, I wouldn't have saved that much. Plus being in an apartment kinda makes it a pain in the ass to set up a workbench.

Use common sense, you don't need 30 rounds at one time.

the only acceptable way to Mini14 is to go full A Team. Then burn Bill Ruger in effigy .

A tactical mini-14 that somebody is trying to pass off as a good idea.
>>
Its a SCAR stock for a mini 14
That setup is like 1k+ and then you have to buy proprietary mags.
I had a mini-14 , a nice one. Not sad thats its long gone.

>>30510883
Well, you didn't faceplant. I mean, it's not a Blackthorne. We know you'll do better next time.
>>
>>30511011
Nyet, rifle is fine. You don't necessarily want a brake on every rifle, and why would you buy a Troy product? MBUS works just fine as well.

Just get more ammo and shoot more OP.

S&W M&P Sport II isn't a bad entry level AR. There are far shittier ones out there for similar money, or even more. It's pretty solid bang for the buck.

Some folks throw rocks at the material in the lower. But the upper and lower are made out of the same aluminum alloy, although you have to dig a bit to find that on S&W's site

They used melonite on the bbl. Some people bitch it isn't chrome lined, but melonite treaded bbl's are technically a better choice.

tl;dr: Rifle is fine, throw your optic of choice on it and have fun at the range.

SO...

are there any good entry level AR 15s in the $500 range?
