Hey guys. I'm new to /k so try not to roast my ass too hard. I'm looking for a hunting rifle right now and i wanted to ask /k's opinion on hunting rifle calibers. Whats your favorite caliber to hunt deer, elk, wolf, and bear with?

I got that in 30-06. It's an awesome gun.
AR-15 with a swapped out upper for 7.62x39 that'll kill deer right quickly. If you need to kill bear, 7.62x51 NATO or .30-06 Springfield will do nicely too.

For deer? 7-30 Waters. Where I live, you never have to take a shot longer than 200 yards though.
Honestly, if you're new to guns, get a Thompson Contender. Fucking kick ass, cheap little system that lets you buy barrels for a bunch of different calibers.
Single shot, breech barrel though, which some people hate.

A gun that shoots X MOA does so regardless of the user and whatever the user's using for sights. It's a measure of the mechanical accuracy of a gun in a static position.

I'm not trying to be a contentious turd or anything, I've been trying to find some kind of info on standard M39 MOA but all that comes up on Google is

and stuff like that. I did find a test of a 1943 Izhevsk PU sniper that put it at about 3 MOA but that was with crappy surplus ammo.

What I'm seeing there is:

>1.5-2.5 MOA depending on ammo
which I feel is not quite the picture you painted.
That being said, at least one person got sub-MOA with hand loads, so there's that.
