Why didn't colt ever produce the SSP? Why doesn't colt even produce a modern pistol?

>make some of the best and most iconic revolvers in history that now even shitty condition ones 30+ years old go for over a $1000
>only make cheap $500 AR's
>>30509278
definitely this.
>>30509323
They still make the best 1911 under $1000

Apparently the only people in the company with half a functioning brain cell or any idea of how to run a business died off in the 70s with the people that knew how to do the royal blue.

They tried in the 90's.
Look up
Double Eagle (1911 with DA trigger)
All American 2000 (High cap 9mm)
Both were disasters, and a huge setback fro Colt. They have been sticking with the basics ever since.

>muh 1911
Basically it boils down to the company being ran by boomers whose only accomplishment is being able to retire from the military after swindling other contractors to benefit Colt. Not that I have a problem as Colt makes damn good military guns, hiccups aside.
It's a miracle that the Colt Modular Carbine made it to production. It's a great gun. Shame no one talks about it these days.
Colt also took loans against a number of patents they owned during the bankruptcy so hopefully some hidden polymer gems are in there.

the SSP was developed in the goddamn sixties.

Man look at that waste of potential in the beavertail and trigger guard. That could be but so much higher.

SPP is way older, but don't forget the Z40. Doesnt matter though since people would bitch about paying $1200 for a slide safety gun
