Are you secretly a weapons patriot?

Do you believe that the things your country has, weapons, troops, etc, are better than everywhere else? Do you find talking about your own nation's things more fun?

I know I am, so I'm curious about others.
>>
No shit my country has the best weapons, we have a military budget the size of the next 30 biggest militaries.

yes.
Other people bitch about the L85A2 and make jokes about it being heavy, awkward and about its jamtastic history... but I fucking love it all the same.
Never had to carry one into action so I suppose I can't talk, but still.

>Do you believe that the things your country has, weapons, troops, etc, are better than everywhere else?
I'm American so this is an objective fact.

If you give the US military a military objective such as Destroy the Iraqi Army or Conduct Operation Praying Mantis they will win overwhelmingly.

If you give them a political objective like Make Iraq and Afghanistan Democracies they are going to struggle and likely fail because those aren't activities a military should be taking part in.

Agreed.

Also I think that the Lee Enfield was the best large scale manufactured bolt action rifle, and that the SAS are the greatest set of soldiers on earth.
>>
>>30502020
Weird. I think exactly the opposite.

You can beat anyone, but you're literally burning money to maintain this capability.

Dutch/Danish/Colombian

My answer is I wish. AR-15 derivatives and other generic but good equipment are nothing to write home about. I do essentially fap whenever one of those nations does something special though. Mostly Denmark because the Netherlands are spineless and Colombia's affairs are just heart wrenching. I would if I could. Or more optimistically, I will when I can.

Yes, in a way.
We have produced some fine equipment over the years. Im very proud of what Bofors, Kockums and SAAB has accomplished. But still the fact is and remains that our current military is a meme.

I think Canada does pretty well. We apparently developed the flat-top Weaver rail concept for ARs before Picatinny Arsenal, and the C7 is more or less what the Americans should have been issuing instead of the M4 to begin with (a 20-inch AR with a collapsible stock). And the NAACO Brigadier would have been one hell of a handgun.
>>
>>30502224
This. As a canuck, we have no real reason to be proud of our service rifle. I would if we still used the Canadian FAL clone the C1A1, but we binned it for an armalite clone in the 80s, and then made it illegal for civvies. Fuck I wish I could have a C1A1.

As far as other stuff goes though, I am proud as hell of our Rangers, JTF2, and how much ass we kicked in WW1/2 and how much ass our snipers still kick.
Canadians are a mild-mannered folk, but we get really bloodthirsty when riled.

Also, happy independence day, Ameribros!

Singapork here. I find it amusing that the Brits seem to love our Broncos, relabeled as Warthogs for the Bongs. Also we developed the MATADOR with the Israelis, so that makes us good goyims I guess.

I always like the bullpup + GL combo

It looks so right

Fuck the AG36/M320 though, overweight, overpriced unergonomic piece of shit
>>
>>30502423
>It looks so right
It makes sense, too. Bullpups are rear heavy so they retain balance better with a pineapple pusher.
>>
>>30502423
>>30502442
Honestly I don't understand the hate bullpups get. Is there anything actually bad about them other than muh aesthetics?
>>
>>30502579
They're more expensive than milsurp guns, ARs, AKs, and pump shotguns so most of /k/ will never be able to afford them. That and a lot of bullpups had mushy triggers at one point.
>>
>>30502421
THIS

Stens and Brens is a pretty great WW2 loadout.

If I'm honest, I'd rather have it than Garands and BARs.

I'd still rather have Stg 44s and MG42s, but you have to be a Fallschirmjager or something to get those.
>>
>>30502579
It's a matter of historical inertia - not unlike autoloaders in tanks, honestly.

They used to be shit. They've only become competitive just now, so noobs wonder why oldfags don't like them.

Besides the trigger thing...they reload slower, have ejection/ambi issues, and are rear-heavy.
>>
>>30502579
They don't do it for a lot of people ergonomically, and ergonomics > all.
>>
Considering how practically every bit of military kit used here has been modified or outright designed to best suit the combat environment it is likely to face, yes.
>>
>>30502752
I find it quite impressive how stens were actually good guns despite looking like they'd been battered together in a shed.

BR here.

Why did they put a Pistol instead of a Assault Rifle.

Also we use IA2 now.
>>
>>30501960

>Are you secretly a weapons patriot?
Nah, the AR is pretty shit.
It's a 60 year old design that loses to every competitor in every army trial.
If it wasn't the rifle the US military uses, nobody would want one.
The only reason we don't replace it is because the firearm industry has no lobbying power like other defense contractors do.

Also, regardless of whether the F-35 turns into a good plane eventually, it is ridiculously over budget and way behind schedule already, so the program is a pretty big shitshow.

As far as guns go, my collection is about 50/50 American/mixed.

Most of the American guns were either gifts or very cheap. The rest are like 90/10 Slav/European.

No, I'm the opposite. American but I find the M4 platform or AR-15s in general to be incredibly dull to fire and to look at. The guns I own are almost all foreign (except fuck AKs as well), and in vidya I'll typically play non-American forces.

Thing is though, I do believe that the US has the best military and weaponry. That's what makes it boring. The guns are too common and too good to fulfill that need for exotic shit.
