If you can inspect it and it looks good, go for it. Mine shoots fine but looks beat up. The meme of monkeys with hammers or thrown down the stairs finish is pretty true. Was pretty nasty when I got it. Full of packing grease more similar vaseline with sand.l than cosmoline.
Save up for a PTR if you can. The c308 isnt as bad as it gets knocked around here by ptr/fal fags. Dont get me wrong, they are nicer, but a cheaper 308 BR is nice too, even with flaws. Just don't expect good performance without good maintenance.

PTR is good to go. The C308 is hit and miss, but even the good ones are marginal at best. PTRs now come with the paddle release as well! Something that's going to cost me around $200 to install.

The cast receiver guns are basically parts kits, their value is in their parts, not as guns themselves.
The receiver is shit, but all the other parts are either German or Portuguese original parts, and reasonably priced.
Basically, if you feel like doing a project, buying a FedArms one, removing all the parts from the receiver, then buying a receiver flat to make a proper stamped steel receiver (if you know how to do that), is a relatively cost effective way to get yourself a good battle rifle.

Most likely not. Depends on your definition of "forever." SCfag here, the PTR guys are top notch when it comes to making things right. They aren't in it for money, but for the joy of shooting. They've called me on my cellphone several times, helping me troubleshoot several issues. Some issues weren't even a thing because I worry too much. Two weeks is a normal turn around period. I had them replace my buffer. The holes the screws fill were stripped for some reason. I hate shilling, but I will do so for them because of how well they've treated me.

Fun story, in 2008 I bought a WASR 10 from Century, brand new out of the box the trigger wasn't pinned in properly. After about the first 5 rounds out of the thing the trigger fell right out and the thing went into a slam-fire cycle til it emptied the mag and I nearly shit-myself/shot-myself-in-the-face while it was happening.

What is hard to understand about that? Spend ~200 on the proper tools you need to assemble an upper or take it to your lgs and get them to do it for 30 bucks or so. The safer bit comes from all the retards I've seen/known that just tighten the barrel nuts without torque wrenching them. It's not exactly super dangerous as long as they don't retard strength over-tighten it or just snug it up, but the risk is still there if it's not in spec.

Called them about it, they said it was within spec for that barrel profile, and that the 8moa was a bit nuts, but that and the jamming were probably the ZQI's fault. They encouraged me to use Federal and Wolf (lol) instead.

In a past thread I mentioned getting night vision, and maybe start out with a PVS-4 or Z-51. Needless to say it just got shat on by him. PVS-4s aren't even that bad, hell you can get them to gen 3 with a little bit of work.

When Sandy Hook happened they cancelled all pending orders, stopped new orders, waited 2 weeks or so then put the site back up
They upped all the prices, didn't honor any prior sales, and charged over $100 a mag for AR mags
Then they did it again when M855 was going to be banned
Even if you agree with charging what it's worth, it's not ethical in any way to cancel pre-existing orders so you can scalp

I got mine for 670ish. Bolt gap was perfect. Welds look perfect. Sights are centered perfectly just had to adjust the height on the front one a little bit to my liking.
As far as shooting it goes it has a decent muzzle break. Shoots 3ish MOA with WPA and 2 on a good day with most brass ammo. It seems to love hirtenberger surplus.
It's failed to feed maybe 2 or 3 times in 1800ish rounds. I have cracked the feed lips on 2 surplus magazines. I didn't break down the bolt carrier for the first 1500 rounds.
The barrel is painted as is the rest of the gun. I managed to burn the paint off with a good 200 round dump.
Honestly from what I can tell mine is as accurate and reliable as a ptr gi. Only major difference in the two is it has cetme sights, cetme bolt and takes a cetme bayonet not a hk style one.
