How come sometimes bullets completely split a person's head open and sometimes they dont? I watch a lot of Religion of Peace execution videos and sometimes they just get a bullet sized hole in their head, and sometimes they get split wide open. Same type of bullet, whats the difference?

If it's all just ball 7.62x39 then I'd guess that some shots just yawed sooner resulting in a more devastating wound.
Although the hajis could have some old HE rounds lying around too. Who knows.

It depends on if the round tumbles/expands/fragments and displaces the tissue that it passes through with enough energy to crack the skull and the proximity of the bullet path to the outside of the skull (a lot less space for the brain to squish into the closer the bullet is to the bone). If a rifle round goes through without tumbling/expanding/fragmenting (ex. the 7.62x39mm M43 PS in pic related) then it won't do much of anything just like handgun ammunition.
