Are these things supposed to be fucking impossible to reassemble? Spent four hours and five or six dissasembly videos on it, stuck it in a closet in pieces, forgot about it. Fuck that thing.

My dad has a Marlin thats from the 80s, not sure what model but its chambered in .30-30
>>
>>30492566
Do you know what year it was manufactured? Mine's a 1981 and I don't know what variant it is.

>clean

>reverse steps, insert handle with bolt carrier about halfway in

You either have one of the following
1. 336A/AS
2. 336TS (Texan Safety)
>>
Should I get a Marlin in .357 or .44 ?
>>
>>30494922
What revolver do you have and/or is this for over or under 400lb critters
>>
>>30492632
My dad has one in .35 Remington. It's honestly better than .30-30 or .45-70 for most applications in my opinion but has damn near died out.

He took off his scope and put a rear peep sight on it, though.
>>
>>30494948
Coyotes. But I'd like fire power should I just get a 30-30?

I don't have a revolver.
>>
>>30494960
I'm getting and going to have to refurb my Grandpa's .35 336 soonish. He put a neat flip-away scope mount on it so the irons could be used unobstructed.

Back in the 60s.
>>
>>30495097
If just for coyote and no revolver then 30-30 is a great option if you want to do lever action. 357 would work but honestly I would get that more for the common ammo. Either way set up something easy to maintain and reload for years of fun. Also look into ammo/brass availability as it can vary strangely by area (45-70 for my area)
>>
I need help. I've got a Marlin 336 chambered in 30-30 WIN that was made in the year 1981 and has the serial number 19142440. Since it doesn't say what variant of the 336 it is, can someone help me find out which models of the 336 were manufactured in 1981?
>>
Would really like a lever action rifle, any suggestions? Money isnt really an issue.
>>
>>30495130
The .35 Remington is a great round. I wish Henry chambered a gun in it.

Very superior ballistically to the .30-30 (larger caliber, but ~200 f/s faster for the same weight). If you reload, you can use .357 magnum bullets for varmints or plinking.
>>
>>30495828
I do like that the most commonly available round for it these days is Hornady Levererv.
>>
>>30495496
From what I can tell anon, the only models of the 336 that were made in 1981 was the 336C (Carbine) and the 336T (Texan).
>>
>>30496042
The only difference between them is that the 336C has a 20 inch barrel while the 336T has a 18.5 inch barrel.
>>
>>30491681
I have one of these. Fucking useless. I'm going to sell it eventually and use the money to save up for an M70 or a 10/63
>expensive as shit ammo
>shitty leaf sights
>loop too small for man sized hands, and larger "custom" loops are 200 fucking dollars
>1/3rd the accuracy of a bolt action
>less reliable than a bolt action
>aesthetically boring as fuck
>any aftermarket sights that aren't garbage are 200 fucking dollars
You buy a $350 dollar gun and spend like $500 just to make it accurate and more than mediocre

Anyone know if the new Marlins are any good? i desperately want a 336, but i know they went to shit during the changeover. are they fixed yet?

also winchester 94 or marlin 336? which is better and why? i think the winchester looks boring as fuck compared to the sexy/curvy 336, but the 94 seems to be a lot more popular

>are they fixed yet?
Supposedly they actually went and replaced their aged and overused machinery a while ago and a brand new one is supposed to be alright.

Look one over and handle it before you make a purchase though.

>>30495569
Get that one in .500 S&W then.
