Are old barrel fragments only good for a warlord necklace?
So the ammo situation with 5.45x39 seems to look pretty grim right now as far as brass cartridges go.
It seems commercially made 5.45 is made only in steel casing right now and the market doesn't seem to be wanting for brass (or so I've read).
And because scumbag ATF banned imports of 5.45 7n6, I guess the only way to some is to buy it from already existing stocks from before the ban, which really sucks as that's a very small market.
So I guess I don't really know all the details, but what is the distinction between 7n6 Russian surplus as opposed to others(?) I guess.
I'd love to get my hands on the brass because I actually enjoy reloading my rounds.
>>30490586
Alot of people emailed and bugged a few brass manufacturers (also overseas so if imports shut off no more brass either) privi partizan replied and straight up said demand is no where close to enough, i forget the name of the other manufacturer but I know they only produced brass cases not loaded ammo.
>>30490616
Was there any dollar amount mentioned for what would goad them into making brass? I have a college fund for a kid I'm never having doing nothing, and I'd be willing to grow that account into something that can actually be useful.
>>30490616
That'd be nice if I could find that manufacturer of the brass, cause then I could (hopefully) get my hands on the powder, primers and bullets myself separately.
>>30490635
Billions of rounds would have to be orders if I'm not mistake.
>>30490647
fug
that is more than I'll make in my lifetime.
>>30490647
The grendel got off the ground with a 250,000 case order.
Also, how good is Silver Bear, as opposed to Tullammo and Wolf?
Is it any good?
>>30490709
Silver Bear is considered the go to, along with Golden Tiger.
>>30490586
A group of guys tried to get a group buy going, all emailing privi and they got back and said 1 million rounds is the minimum order, the group buy died out after that.
>>30490793
Fucking Christ man, I really almost half tempted to just go down to black market and get my shit there.
(NOT SAYING I WILL, ATF. FUCK ON OUTTA HERE)
>>30490773
Sweet. I guess I'll get some of that, and continue scouring for that Red surplus.

>>30491153
It's confusing. Look up a guide on how to wrap an ak sling, there are a few.
>>30491153
If it works anything like a VZ sling, you remove the clip and feed it through the sling swivel and then both sides of the square part on the other end of the sling.
>>30490585

>>30491919
No. "Black Market" is just me venting my frustration.
(although I probably could find one with enough sleuthing).
>>30491987
i'm afraid the only option currently is reloading steel.
>>30491819
this is my aesthetic

Is this a good way to get my dog shot?
>>30492045
I read on a some forums that you can also resize .222 to fit .221 or something, but it's a lot of work and you need a lot of tools...
so I guess steel reloading is the only option, although I'm not sure how safe and reliable that is, since steel won't be as malleable as brass.

Is your dog worth $200?

>>30492280
There is no "best" weight. The variance of 122-125 grains is just manufacturer to manufacturer differences - jacket thickness, alloy composition, slight ogive and boattail (or flat base) differences. As far as an AK is concerned, anything not tulammo is perfectly fine for marksmanship. Tulammo can have larger swings in velocity, hurting accuracy. If 5 MOA (5" @100 yards, 2.5 @ 50, 10" @ 200, etc) is okay with you, then there's no problem.

The two that are on the right weren't in sealed cans, they're this stuff: http://www.sgammo.com/product/545x39-ammo/1080-rounds-ammo-can-545x39-60-grain-fmj-mil-spec-ammunition-lacquer-and-sealant
The open can with the loose ammo is because I thought the can of 7n6 was punctured so I didn't want the stuff to get fucked by humidity. Then I loaded up a few mags. I then went full autist so that I didn't see the missing pouches I open that entire can up and put them loosely in the can.

Did you get a factory SBR from Arsenal, do the cutting on a 16" model yourself, or have a gunsmith do it?
If you did the cutting yourself, how easy was the process for you? I'm familiar with how to cut and crown the barrels, but I'm just curious how difficult it actually is in practice.

>>30494621

There are two types of AMDs. The AMD-63 was the first model, adopted in 1963. Aside from lacking the upper handguard, and the skeletonized lower handguard/foregrip, it was the same as a standard AKM with a 16 inch barrel & fixed stock.
The AMD-65, adopted in 1965, was a shortened AKM with a wire folding stock, shorter gas system and barrel.
Best bang for my buck AK to buy? Must have dimples or it isn't worth mentioning.

Partially to make your shit look even more mint and partially because this is an imageboard, so non-shit images are appreciated by myself anyways.

Also chimps or zasta does the gas tube on your guys krink cover up the holes on the FSGB? my gas tube is loose and Is having issues cycling, I think the gas tube is too short or the sleve on it has moved back.
>>30495318
Having issues cycling it when hand cycling it or when actually firing it?
Issues caused by the gas piston interfacing with the gas block?
And my holes are partially covered. There was a bit of play in the gas tube so I modified an AK-74 gas tube tension spring to keep it from rattling. But I have never had any issues with my krinker.

Just when shooting, went out to shoot today with a can on and the sounds of the shooting starting getting quieter until it stopped ejecting empty cases, than the gastube was looser than before I dont thing the FSGB moved forward as its welded in place the welds still look fine and FSGB looks like it has not moved, I am thinking part of the forward part of the gastube moved back as the holes now are completely exposed when before it was only partially exposed. and the small part of the tube that sticks out past the wood is smaller (any way you could take a pic of how far yours is out?)
>>30495171

>>30495159
>If you can use a hacksaw you can do it. No problem hitting a mansize target at 200 standing.
Shiiiit, that's great. One more quick question; what did you use to crown your barrel after cutting? Did you do the brass-screw and abrasive compound method that I see a lot?
>>30495589
I know you said that your gas block doesn't look like its moved but that sounds a lot like what has happened and I'll tell you why:
You said that the cycling of the rifle started getting weaker and weaker until it was no longer ejecting at all, right? Obvious symptom of undergassing there. But the thing is, the holes in the gas block don't affect the gassing of the rifle at all, they're just there to bleed off the excess gas and get some of the carbon out of the action of the gun. You could literally drill a hole right through the side of your gas block and the rifle would function the same.
The gas block is under a lot of pressure forward every shot, because equal and opposite reaction and whatnot. It sounds like your gas block got pushed forward and slowly began to lose connection with the gas port in the barrel until the gun stopped working, which is also why the gas tube seems farther away now. I can't imagine any way that the gas tube could actually shrink in length like that.
How was your muzzle on your barrel? Was it perfectly flush with your FSGB? Take off your muzzle booster and see if the barrel has receded into the FSGB any. That will be the best way to check.

I used a shitty kit from brownells that I had to modify because the smallest guide was a 5.56 and it didn't fit. It came with a planing tool that made the cut surface level and then an 11ยฐ crowning tool. Just spun both slow in a hand drill. Finished off with high grit sandpaper and my thumb. Make sure to cold blue the bare steel because it will rust, but clean it up well afterwards because the cold blue stuff has a weird reaction with the chrome in the barrel. I left myself a half centimeter of fuck up room on the barrel in case I fucked up.

You know what, I am pretty retarded though. Just noticed yours says export not extension. I saw the "e" and stopped. My 6B45 and 6SH112 were stuck at export for over a month, yours are more than likely out on a boat and taking forever. I'll try to find the tracking number and screencap it for you
>>30495942
Well I can't properly comment on any of the kits that I haven't used, but I think CNC warrior makes a kit for crowning 5.45 that might be worth a look.
>>30495978
Never shot Bulgarian 7n6. It was fairly smokey and smelly compared to new production 5.45 if I remember correctly. The smell is part of the experience though. Even though it's probably loaded with carcinogens or AIDS or something

I wouldn't trust just welds, have it pinned and weld/blend them in

No idea but I'll check my other sectioned cartridge pictures tomorrow.
It's a trigger block/safety, they've been putting that on a few random AKs lately
>not wearing any pants
>>30496130
Fuck the wait is killing me
>>30496170
>>30496170
I think it more forward or it has something stuck in the gasblock, i put some oil in the gasblock but none of it came out, not sure how it moved shot 20 rounds about before it stopped and it was welded in 4 places, its still on the shops ffl cause im waiting for form 3 to get approved so they can still fix it, ill see if it cant be pinned.
>>30496250
oh wow... did you build that with a 2x4 and a sledgehammer?
>he pressed on the FSB/GB with the gas tube on, but not properly aligned
>b-but I wanted a tight fit!
ur gas tube is fucked.
>welded in 4 spots
yea.... the whole thing is fucked. Throw it in the trash.

>>30496250
Woah yeah that definitely moved, they did a nice job recreating the dimples but it needs pinned unless they're dimpled like factory. (Welds never hold for applications like that)
>yes its airshit but looks damn cool
>>30496298
Why dont you show me your kit builds?
The FSGB was pressed on until it was near the gas tube to where the gas tube was on but still loose and rattled a bit, after I shot it today it sounded like it was a bit looser, I think the end of the gas tube is pressed in a bit but it was not from me pressing on the FSGB, I can guaranteed Ive built more AK's than you but this is my first krink mind you, now please tell me how I was supposed to secure a FSGB that has no pin holes? (besides drilling new pin holes than welding over as that was not an option.) As such it was welded where the dimples were.
>>30496364
Should I have it pinned on the underside where the "nubs" are?
>>30496377
I aint even got time to read all your babble. All I know is you fucked your gas tube in whatever retardation you did, you can see the obvious bend at the 12 oclock part that is no perpendicular with the barrel. As for the FSBGB, you didnt pin it on dumbshit. I wouldnt be suprised if you go at it with a hand drill and 4mm bit, and completely fuck it up by it deflecting off the barrel and coming out the very bottom of the lug because youre too dumb to start with a endmill or use a drillpress and go reallly fuckin slow.
I bet you youre the fucker who kept posting that krink that had the crushed to shit trunnion rivets in the last akg's arnt you....TheRussian.
>>30496377
>He tried to just weld it to the barrel
>the dumb fuck prolly didnt even get the parkerizing off the barrel, hence why its walked in <20rds
Did you even set the barrelpin right? Imma laugh when the thing blows up because you used a nonserialized bolt with your trunnion and just used the old barrelpin hole.
>>30496407
>I aint even got time to read all your babble.
>Posts something as long as his post.
Wew
>>30496437
You are a resident here who doesnt have a damn clue as to what ur doing, so I know you got time and reason to read all my shit.
Me? Im outta here.
>>30496406
Yes, use a endmill to start, make the pins long enough to blend them in and after paint no one will know they're there.
>>30496407
Bet you're fun at parties
>>30496466
Zasta, would you know where to get an empty mosin rifle shipping crate that isnt beat to fuck?
>>30496470
I asked AIM at one point and they had some for cheap (maybe free can't remember) but shipping was like $100
>hence my building a crate
What sight adjustment tool should I buy?
>>30496407
>you can see the obvious bend at the 12 oclock part that is no perpendicular with the barrel
Nigger what? Are you talking about how the gas tube is pressed in? It was like that when I got the kit, as to me no I'm not TheRussian never knew him, as to my rivets? The rear ones are flat like they are supposed to be flat, and I bet your the guy from the last thread who doesn't actually have have an AK and never posted it when asked.
>>30496433
Barrel never had any parkerizing on it, and has not been painted yet, the barrel is new and had the hole pin drilled when it was headspaced, was I supposed to weld up the trunnion?
>>30496466
I think I can have that done.
Golden Tiger or Mil spec non corrosive Barnaul? Silver Bear was my go to but can't find any right now.

Welcome to the club.
Is 7n6 ever gonna get unbanned?
>>30497128
It's not banned, imports from Russia are. I've heard that some of the 7n6 that's currently available is "Bulgarian".
I wish the AK-107 was "Bulgarian".
>>30497165
I thought 7n6 was banned from importation because its armor piercing as well
>>30497172
Yeah, someone made a "pistol" chambered in 5.45x39 and that became a shitshow. Nobody defended it politically, until the same thing happened with M855 5.56x45.
Basically, AR owners didn't care that their rights were being infringed upon because it didn't affect them at the time. Then the 5.56 ban came up and suddenly everyone went "hay nooo, stop it for real this time, please".

>>30498365
Exactly? How does Skinhead have all the good shit?
>>30493288
It works pretty well at reducing flash and recoil, just be prepared for some pretty obnoxious muzzle blast and mine had a little bit of rust on it when it arrived.
Is it true that the ALG AK trigger will cause mushrooming on the carrier's tail just like the G2? I've already polished the hammer, but it still only contacts the tail at the very bottom as opposed to the full contact provided by mil-spec triggers.
TL;DR If I want to avoid mushrooming, should I stop using the ALG trigger?
