Practically speaking would it be possible to change the crew of an aircraft using two planes moving slow with a procedure similar to air refueling so that the airframe could stay longer on the air even when the crew is exhausted ?
>>
Possible, yes, in theory. Practical, no. It's much easier and more practical to have two or more crews on board, assuming the airframe is big enough.

Did you just finish watching Air Force One also?

It would be extremely painful

Which planes house more than one crew (present or past ?)
>>
>>30490305
ultra-long haul airliners carry 3-4 pilots usually

think Istanbul to LA, or NY to Singapore

Yeah but in term of military planes ? Could strategic bomber save room to house three or four more crew members with the adequate "not in duty" housing ?

Changing a fast jet crew, no.
Speed and a piss tube are all that a real man needs to get through a mission.
Su-34 has a john FFS.
You'll be wanting a bunk next.

Wouldn't surprise me if a modern b52 with all the downsizing of instruments and hardware had spare room behind the cockpit for a berth and a desk. Maybe a small food storage area.

As far as I recall, the longest bomber flight ever, with the avro vulcans, used a chemical toilet and a single crew.

P-3 Orion's have 2 bunks (1 for pilot, 1 for FE) and normally carried 2 FE's, 3-4 pilots and they swap at about 2 hour intervals. They also have a small oven, fridge (if not removed), piss pot, fake toliet for garbage bag shits (bad luck), room for microwave/crock pot and rather large galley area. Most of the rest of the crew can just sleep at their positions or go to the gaps between equipment racks/over wings.

A B-52 does. only one that I'm aware of offhand.

So can't find a good picture of them but you can kinda see it in this one. Left side past grey rack you can see sunlight coming in, that's the "Overwing Hatch/Area" there is another on the right but you can't see it. They are two Egress/maintenance hatches with access to the top of the wings (Over the wing) that have a fairly clear area around them. So they make great places for sleeping bags or those collapsible chairs to sleep at.

You'd have to liquefy them first.

Shut your filthy whore mouth about Executive Decision
>>

The F-117 is actually more around the size of the F-15, senpai.
>>
Possible but not really cost effective. Easier to have a spare crew member or two to rotate in and out. If you are going to be in flight long enough to warrant changing out the entire crew, you are probably going to have maintenance issues that need to be addressed anyway.

And Executive Decision was a pretty cool movie, but I have no idea where the fuel would be stored in that F-117.

I think B-2s have a cot so pilots can take turns napping on the long missions. Both are awake for the actual combat part though.

A lot of the strategic planes (RC-135, E-4, etc.) have provisions for more than one crew to be aboard. A KC-135 could, in theory have more than one crew aboard, but I don't think they can be refuelled in air so the point is moot.
