What the fuck. Denying a group that actively promotes gun safety and competition among its various members is frowned upon? Eat dick, university.
>>
>>30489906
Probe further as to why 'it's not in the best interests' and look into the school charter. It might just be that they can't be arsed for the insurance which could get written out by having everyone sign releases.
>>
You tried to teach them saftey.
Now shoot up the school
>>
Guns arent popular in the media , and the universities applicant count could potentially suffer due to it having such a club , so its all money.

You're right, I should go speak with them this next week. I imagine it may be a reaction to the events in Orlando, but I don't want to assume anything.

have some of the diverse group of people play the discrimination card, seriously...

alternatively, just make the club yourself without their blessing...its not like the university can control who hangs out with who

obviously some raging liberal in education shot down your idea out of their own volition.

ask them for clarification on why you were rejected, (in email or writing), and forward the response to the universitys dean's office and board of trustees if they have one. explain that shooting sports are a constitutionally protected right, and you will take this to the media to make a big deal about discrimination and suppression of lawful constitutional rights. with a black kid in your group as the spokesman, who will claim he is being discriminated against for being a black man with a gun
>>
>>30490043
chances are "the university" never found out about your application, and some liberal activist club processor sent you back their own decision, not the uni's
>>
better yet, start an islam club, where you promote the values of shooting sports as a means to defend your religion. any US liberal university these days should be bending over backwards to approve you

I live in Bongistan, in a very cucked city, and my uni has a sport shooting club and a clay pigeon shooting club that are both very popular.
>>
>>30489906
is it a private or public university, if it receives state or federal funds and it has clubs not affiliated with specific school activities such as spanish club etc. then there was a supreme court ruling that said they must allow special interest clubs. Not sure if it applies to universities but it certainly applies to high schools.

A university refusing to let you form an official club is not a violation of constitutional rights. They're not saying their students are forbidden from participating in shooting sports, they're just refusing to form a club for it. There is no constitutional right to form university clubs.

Have you tried loopholes?

Instead of a "Shooting Club," how about a "Target Sports Club"?

The only difference is that you'd have to include archery.

If it has a target, it's a sport. Boom, loophole.

Say the same thing to an American who uses the word "mate". Queer terminologies best left to queers.

The founding fathers were inspired by the greek and roman styles. Just look at the architecture of the time. Latin is still used and taught in american universities, fraternities use greek letters for their names. Academia is based on european styles.

>no constitutional right to form university clubs

Not until you label the club as an "active and ongoing source of protest to demonstrate that the use of guns can be safely used"

The uni can't actually stop you from forming the club, as far as I know, they can just stop you from shooting on the grounds, and that's only if it's private property. If it's a fucking state funded school on state funded land, you're barking up the wrong tree, and your next stop needs to be whatever governor/senator you have that is the most pro funs.

You can meet to discuss guns, and especially THE POLITICS OF GUN LAW, as that leads credit to the fact that it is PEACEFUL PROTEST which IS protected, but I can guarantee if youre looking to open a club range on school property, the hoops to jump through will be much, much larger
>>
>>30495341
It very quickly went from "Tebow? Oh yeah! He went here!" to "Tebow, hmm hes famous... we need a public association between him and the school, that the press can cover and we can hold an event for, that interests the public, that raises the popularity of our school to increase the amount of applicants, so as to increase our grants."

It didn't have much to do with the fact that hes a good football player, more to do with the fact that if the school administration has a relationship that can benefit them, either in money, politics, OR culture, you bet your ass theyre going to use it.

Also this. I remember when I was in class and my professor came in and said they were removing Hernandez's name. this was early in the situation.
>>
>>30495735
The relationship can only be maintained as long as it's positive. Once it isn't, again, you can bet your ass the school will do everything to either deny deny deny, or cook up a story that they were quite "unsure" about him, which is what happened, and numerous students came out a said that he was a great guy, really involved in all the school activities, not just football. After this happened, the teachers and the Dean came out and said that those students had only said those things to get into the press so that they could sort of "reinforce Hernandez's character" before he went in front of the goddamn gallows for murder
>>
>>30495768
I had class with a guy who was in undergrad with him, said he was really cool and nice guy. I had class with Patric Young(not sure if you're into basketball) and he was fucking awesome, even after he kicked me in the head.
>>
>>30495870
Dude I don't know what you did, but if Young kicked you in the head, it was either an accident or you had it coming. He was like 7 foot though right? Are you a manlet and his foot just reached so high in his stride that he you in the dome?

I gotta know this story.

>now the goalposts are over here
>>
>>30495898
haha yeah it was on accident. I would sit in the very last row in the lecture hall. Patric came in late, this time without his 2-3 girls from the Track and Field team escorting him. Since class begun it was pretty full and he didn't want to disrupt people by walking through the whole aisle to get a seat. Few seats next to me were open in the last row. I'm sitting in the morning lecture and all the sudden I felt this massive leg hit me in the back of the head. I looked to my left like "who the fuck is playing now" and all the sudden it was massive Patric. He looked more shocked than me and apologized a few times. Super nice guy, hope he stays healthy in Greece or wherever he ended up.

Might as well send an email (DO NOT REFER IN ANY WAY TO 4CHAN OR USE MEMES, BE FORMAL) to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.

FIRE is a non-profit that looks after student rights, mostly 1st amendment related but increasingly due process related these days, in American universities. If you're at a private college, your options might be less limited. If public, then denial of your application could potentially be politically motivated, hence viewpoint discrimination, hence illegal.

It could also be totally legitimate, I'm no lawyer. Go ahead and ask, while being formal and cordial, while providing as much information as possible. It's possible that, even if your denial was fair, they might try to get the administration to back down through reason.

That being said, don't expect anything. Without additional information, FIRE might not be able to help.
