thats a pistol brace. you can legally put one of these on a "pistol" Short barrel rifle and it's still a pistol. the brace is designed and advertised as a wrist strapped brace, and is not a stock legally on paper.

You can cut the stock off a rifle, it becomes a pistol, and can have a short barrel legally. But, even if you return the barrel to its original length, the moment you've put a stock back onto your "pistol" it becomes an AOW (Any Other Weapon) and the ATF will come and kill your dog and pregnant wife.

That's actually kind of a stupid idea. Laws like this are actually pretty awesome for gun owners. Makes the libs feel like they're being protected from evil babymurderingmachines while still giving us a way to get what we want.

NFA was supposed to ban pistols, SBRs and stuff was just a matter of banning improvised concealable weapons to avoid handgun loopholes.
But then the NRA stepped in to save pistols, and suddenly SBRs, SBSs and AOWs just kind of turned into this strange thing instead with no real purpose, since criminals would just look at getting a pistol like usual and it wasn't really in most's interest to have a short rifle for their nefarious purposes (though I've always imagined that hacked down shotguns being the most common illegal NFA item due to ease of manufacture and for it's genuine utility).
