There isn't one. Trying to make a sight do most things well ends up with one doing all things poorly.
Clearly identify the task and then pick the right tool for the job. Long range? Get a scope. Short to medium distance, low power variable. CQC, pick your flavor of red dot.
If you want to cover all bases you're going to need more than one sighting solution. Piggybacked and offset dots/irons are there for a reason. Of course there's a weight penalty as a result, no such thing as a free lunch.

Whats a good optic for an 18 in barrel?
So since I've had my scar, i've had a poorfag optic on it (Primary arms 4-14acss) and while it has been great for me, I was thinking of upgrading to a higher quality optic. At the moment I am thinking about either the Acog with the PA acss reticle or maybe taking the leap for the premium series (made in japan) 1-8x variable. There is not a lot of reviews out there but everything I have seen on it has been highly praised. Any thoughts?

The Elcan doesn't really offer anything besides a heavy, overly complicated method of offering only two magnification settings via a fouling prone mechanism in a housing with wobbly external adjustments. There are much better options for what the Elcan proposes to do, e.g. S&B Short Dot or US Optics SR-8C.

not really sure, At the moment i can really only do 3-400 yards so both will work with what I am doing just fine, while also have targets around 50yards so the 1x on the 1-8 f seem nice.

At 3-400 yds, an 8x top end is pretty good.
For closer stuff that 1x will be nice.
I like how the ranging parts are on both sides in that optic, I might get it just to try it out, already got a 34mm mount laying around.
