/k/ I want to get a 9mm fun. I have a 92FS and a P229. I love 9mm and stockpile it in case of democrats. Adding a sub machine gun style weapon with a 30-40 round mag would be a cool addition. What kind of shit can I buy legally (I'm in Michigan). Basic rules are as follows right?
>minimum barrel length if it has a stock
>If short barrel and stock it requires expensive tax stamp and wait list thing

I don't want to do the wait list thing or whatever. What are my options?
>short barrel no stock (legally a pistol) and later when I have money get a stock for it and purchase tax thing
>get one of these long barrel weird things with stock but in 9mm (I don't prefer this because a weapon this large, I might as well get an AR)

The point is I don't want a rifle otherwise I'd simply get an AR, I want a compact 9mm.
>>
Can a stock be purchased for this later on for example?
>>
buy an ar. make it into 9mm pistol and submit your paper work. wait a few months then add a stock. 9mm carbines are fun as shit but you really need to sbr worth while.

Are forgrips illegal on pistols? Or can I get a stamp for that too?

>>30481680
Well isn't it more expensive to buy an AR then convert it? Wouldn't it be the same as getting a stamp then buying a straight up mpx with a stock?
>>
>>30481661
Putting a stock on that will turn it into a short barrel rifle, which means you need a tax stamp. Go watch a video on youtube about NFA items.

Now, a SIG arm brace only counts as a stock if you bring it up to your shoulder. You can rest your cheek on it, or brace it on your chest, just not on your shoulder.
>>
>>30481661

Yeah, you can file an ATF form 1 and make it an SBR, then legally add a stock.

You can also add a "pistol brace" that's totally not a stock, and not file a form 1.
>>
>>30481693

Yes. A pistol with a forgrip is an AOW. Not illegal, but without the NFA stamp it is illegal.
>>
>>30481693
Pistols with forgrips are AOW (Any Other Weapons) and need a $5 stamp (takes a couple months to get approved.

Guess I loose anon. Thats funny shit. Plato imagined a Republic of Philosopher kings. God have we taken a few steps in the wrong direction.

>>30481711
Well if I pay the SBR stamp then add a forgrip is the grip legal since its now just a SBR.

Cuz an MP7 would be cool af but I think they come in .45.

OOps I guess mp7s take some proprietary ammo and HK doesn't make normal people versions.

Back to mp5s it is.
>>
>>30481693
the only thing you are doing is adding a stock and removing a plain buffer tube. and ar's are ar's you can go as cheap or expensive as you want. i spend about 2k on mine with stamps, optics, can and all that shit. a mcx is what, about 800 and stcok is like 200. can you build an ar for cheaper? of course you can.
>>
This is gay ass .22lr but this is 9mm would be legal. I'm assuming the barrel is a mock silencer. So this is legally not a SBR which is cool because its legal. But mock silencers are for faggots.

I wonder if they sell semi auto mp5s with integrated silencers. I'd just pay the silencer fee and have a rifle. But a silenced 9mm mp5 which is tits.

>>30481785
Yeah thats not a bad idea. Way cheaper.

I got pic related for my 9mm fun gun, and it's super-fun to shoot. I have a suppressor in NFA jail for it, and plan on buying a full-size MP5 to keep it company.

Can't recommend roller-locked 9mm guns enough

i have one of these uppers and a psa 9mm build kit. http://www.orionguns.com/AR-15-9mm-Uppers_c24.htm

runs just fine with/with out a can. also dont forget once you have the lower sbr'd (assuming its a normal lower) you can change it to another caliber if you want to.

anon so how much was this fun? you had to get a tax stamp prior to purchase for SBR right? then I see it has a threaded barrel for a silencer so you can add that later. Damn this thing is titties.

Overall costs as is in pic related?

Would the mp5sd be quieter then a normal mp5 with aftermarket silencer. Seeing as how the silencer on the mp5sd is fucking huge.

>>30481894
Fuck I didn't think of that because the lower has the serial thats genius.

Id love a classic mp5sd with the non collapsible stock. Prolly cost $7000+ no matter where I try to get one though.
>>
>>30481823
Skip the SD and just get a can.. They have major cool factor, but overall suppressors have advanced far past what the SD MP5s are capable of.
The SDs need to be cleaned every 500 rounds or they risk baffle strikes and they kill velocity to remain subsonic. They're not any quieter or provide any benefit over a current can and subsonic ammo.

Here we go.

It's a Zenith Z-5P, there's a full-size MP5 clone available as well, the incorrectly named Z-5 reverse stretch. I bought it as a pistol and filed a form 1 to add the stock/foregrip. Stamp recently came back.

Cost:
Pistol: $1550 plus FFL transfer cost
NFA Tax stamp: $200
Folding stock + Foregrip: $150 shipped from hkparts.net, took 30 seconds to install with no tools

Total: $1900

Optional section:
Ti-rant 45: $550
Tax stamp: $200
Trirant triad adaptor: $200

Total for whole kit: $2850

I did research into the MP5SD and apparently modern suppressors are much better, so a normal MP5 with a modern can will be as quiet/better than the MP5SD. The special sauce of the MP5SD is barrel ports that turn all ammo subsonic. Just buy 147gr 9mm ammo that is subsonic and you can get better-than-MP5SD performance in terms of both noise and ballistics.
>>
>>30481969
It's a clone, but yes, based on the MP5k which has a shorter barrel than the MP5 normie sized
>>
>>30481969
Yes and no, its an MP5K-PDW.

An mp5 with a few accessories like the stock.

Could I start with this then add stock and stamp then add silencer and stamp? This a good brand?

Well I guess you answered that question.
Yeah itd be better the get a nice can that can shoot sub sonic super quiet. Some new cans can shoot both ammo but super sonic is just louder.

This looks like a fucking sweet gig man instead of buying more pistols maybe I should work on this thing.

>>30481969
H&K is actually releasing an MP5k in the U.S., but they're already sold out and the going rate is ~$2,400. They're also a true MP5k and not an MP5k PDW so no tri-lug/threaded barrel, which kind of kills them as a suppressor host unless you wanted to spend probably another ~$1,500+ to find a barrel and have it swapped. Also no paddle mag release if you want to be a weenie and whine about that also.
A bit disappointing really, but still cool.

Zenith/MKE sells a Z5P which is basically a true to form MP5k PDW contract build from Turkey.
Quality and function is solid overall at something like $1,400, so that's probably your best bet.

There are clone manufacturers in the U.S. who can sell you NFA builds like Brethren or TPM, but you're looking at a $3-4k starting point and wait times, but still very good builds by all accounts.

Forgot pic and most of my questions have already been answered. This would be sweet. 9mm is cheap and I have a 9mm pistol fetish. Instead of piling up 9mm pistols I'll stay proficient with the ones I have and get this.

>>30482026
Eh $2400 might not be worth it. IDK. The Zenith might be the way to go.

How tf do you shoot mp5k without a stock though. In a dignified way. Shit looks harder than just shooting a pistol.
>>
PSA for anyone considering Zenith vs popular clone builds: Zenith has a lower pushpin and cannot accept a full-auto sear as a concession to the ATF for that choice. Most clones (and I think the new HK SP89) have a clipped and pinned lower that can be replaced with a registered sear.

Personally, I am a fan of the Zenith style, and am purchasing German MP5 parts kits for the day we are allowed to have MGs again.
>>
>>30482039
>Eh $2400 might not be worth it. IDK.
As a suppressor host, it's not. Unless you're a die hard H&K fan and you'd be willing to track down an H&K built PDW barrel and have it swapped, you're adding easily another ~$1,500 onto that price.
It sucks, but hopefully H&K will eventually release full size and threaded/lugged barrel models.
>The Zenith might be the way to go.
It is. Read the posts on HKPro and elsewhere. The Zeniths are a little rough here and there, but overall they're not far from H&K factory quality and Zenith has been very attentive and responsive with customers.
>>
>>30482059
It's actually super comfortable to use a 1-point sling with the MP5k and cheek weld to the tensioned sling. It's a super-concealable combo that's quick to deploy like this.

This is kinda cool. No tax stamps. Just pump out 9mm at a fast af muzzle velocity cuz it has such a long barrel right?

But if you replace the trigger pack and remove the f/a bolt block, in the zenith you get full fun.

>long barrel = higher velocity

Not exactly how it works. A pistol round in a barrel that long will probably be losing velocity over something in the 5"-6" range.

A few of my favs:

AR with an A1 upper, 9mm makes the most of it.

KekTek Sub2000 - Comes in many flavors, including Glock, Sig, & Beretta, have mag intetrchangability, in a folding gun you can fit into a laptop case. Great for school!

Havent tried them but they look neat as hell, are the definitive arms ak-9's. With the side folder they seem about perfect.

Ive also enjoyed Uzi's and Stens, but only in the auto variety, im sure semi would be fun but im not sure if the barrel length would make them awkward.

Finally, pic related, Mp5's are great, but they just scream to be SBR'd, and even before then they are expensive, and honestly I enjoy them just as much as Stens & Uzis
