How effective is piano wire in military use as a weapon?
>>
The question is..can spetsnaz shrug off real fucking nato.

I think not.
>>

According to that pic, it stops bullet.
Pretty effective.

The bullet cut the wire in half.
>>
>>30478171
Well since most engagements typically occur at ranges farther than one can reach with a bit of wire, I'd say no. Its not a very good weapon.

But hey AGTM missiles use wire pretty effectively.

Its very useful. With a lathe and a machinists guide you can make some nice springs for ypur shitty open bolt subgun.

In all seriousness, except for spoopy garrotting and maybe trying to decapitate machine gunners on humvees, not really.
>>
It was extremely effective in decapitating machine gunners in the Iraq .invasion

There is a hole being literally blown out of the back of that dudes chest, if not at least his upper arm, which would render him combat ineffective.

The guy is still more than two steps away from him and he's going all out on the fun switch. That pic is literally milliseconds from showing Spetsnaz being SHREKT.

>>
>>30480096
I was actually just talking out my ass. Ive heard that the germans made booby traps in wwII by stretching piano wire across the street at neck height for people in jeeps. I assumed one could do the same thing for machine gunners in humvees

Articles from 2004-2006. Lot of talk about rebar sticking out of destroyed building and power cables hanging low from destruction.
Maybe just they don't tell about the media about the haji built wire traps or troops thought the annihilation of power lines was a trap made by iraqis.

is this Denmark or Norway? The language doesn't quite seem German. might just be me though. I have commenced my holiday drinking.

nice artistry btw.
>>
>>30480187
Nah man. That wire would snap. Would maybe cut the gunner a bit but wouldnt cut his head off.

Now what they do is attatch the wire to a bomb and you drive over it and wrap around a wheel and set off the bomb.

Most of the Iraq republican guard had fled their positions. Small pockets of resistance in a few outskirts but mostly they ran.

When the turks and syrians and iranians started to attack, thats when the ieds got sophisticated with cell phone detonators and kill switched car bombs.

No, it's from Norway.
>>

Ah. I I forgot about the swedes. You might be right.
>>
>>30480275
They use basically the same extra shit, mostly just o, ö and ä as far as i know. They share a lot of vocabulary, but the spelling tends to differ
>>
>>30480317
Norway has the o with a stripe which is the easiest way to differentiate swedish and norwegian.
>>

>Nah man. That wire would snap. Would maybe cut the gunner a bit but wouldnt cut his head off.

Wrong, wires strong across the road was a very common method of eliminating jeep occupants.

Not saying it was common in Iraq though. Just saying that a wire strung across the road will kill a vehicle occupant.

It's from Norway, a practical guide for the infantry with instructions on everything from how to apply camouflage to fighting in a nuclear war (!).

Here it is if anyone's interested: http://documents.tips/documents/ud-17-02-soldaten-i-felt.html

Sweet!

I think Norway stopped updating theirs after the Cold War, unfortunately. :(
>>

Nope. The recent ones are just kept off limits to civillians.
>>
>>30480619

I did service in 2010, and we used the 1985-edition, lol.

Who knows, though - they might have decided to get their heads out of their asses and modernized since then.
>>
>>30480686
wait, are we talking about 'Soldaten i felt' or some winter manuals?

Started service in '10 too.
>>
>>30480706
"Soldaten i felt".

I'm pretty sure they made sure to update the boring safety regulation manuals though...
>>
>>30480754
There's a new edition of it.

Yup, that one is being updated every couple of years!
