>Move from decently-based state to most based state on the east coast

It'd be awesome if Maine did the Montana/Alaska thing and gave the finger to the fed if "common sense" legislation was proposed but I was honestly surprised how many Bernie stickers I've seen so I doubt that.

Alaskabros, do you guys have regular (boring) jobs or are you into subsistence living? I've always assumed that unless you live in one of the large cities, everyone does a fair bit of hunting, fishing and farming for their food. Thinking about regularly hunting and fishing makes me hard and makes me wish I didn't live in this god forsaken desert. (661 Ca)

My job is outside. Depends on what you mean by subsistence. I could go to the store if I wanted but would rather go to a beach at low tide and look for dungies.

Either of those temperatures are perfectly fine to deal with year round. Shit, MA sometimes gets into the deep 90s during summer. I have a fine time sleeping. Winter isn't even worth mentioning.

What's your issue?
>>
>>30471290

>>
>>30468455
Actually you can. The issue is weapons grade nuclear material, and therefore weapons, are controlled by the government who has no interest in selling them to you. On paper though it is entirely legal to possess one.

The issue with missile launchers is the guidance systems typically being classified. As far as rockets and rocket launchers those are class 3 and legal to buy.

They are just salmon berries.
>>
>>30471499
So you're saying that technically, if you somehow found a way to mine/legally come in control of nuclear material, refine it, and make your own potential weapon, or even just fission reactor, there's nothing legally on paper that incriminates you?
>>
>>30471524

I do not know the steps for it, but look at it this way;

Power plants are owned by companies, not the government. They need material to function so by that reasoning it is possible for a private citizen or even company to legally possess or manufacture a nuclear device. Firing it will be a different issue.

Is there much or any need for pilots in Alaska?
Gonna be heading to school for either fixed- or rotary-wing aviation, haven't made my mind up, and would love to make a career in a free state
or at least freer than my current state (Minnesota, which admittedly isn't that bad)

Are you serious?
>>
>>30471865
im considering moving to alaska in a few months so thats why i started looking into this. i would consider the 10mm but in my opinion a lot of people who support 10mm for brown bear are thinking of interior bear. Kodiak or coastal bears are twice as large as grizz which means more stopping power.

standard carry for US rangers out in the alaskan bush is a 12 gauge. I need a pistol to match the the slug's ballistics. check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2KhI7aHLqU
>>
>>30471879
I mean, I know there's bush pilots and shit but it seems like a hard job to get into and it never looked like there was a need for a lot of them

I live in southeast Alaska and our brown bears are pretty big, not like those Kodiak freak of nature fuckers, but I carry a 10mm.
>>
>>30471926
One of the main ways to travel is by plane. They are always looking for pilots and during the tour season they always are. I live in Alaska and I bet others in this thread that live here don't have a pilots license or own a plane but have flown before, I've never landed though. My cousin has a hanger behind his house and bulldozed a runway for his 206.
>>
>>30471979
So if I showed up with a degree in aviation and the necessary licenses, it wouldn't be too hard to get a job flying there?
>>
Where do I learn from the locals on surviving Alaska? I plan to serve the military and then move up north. I'm sick and tired of the shit going on inside the US and the bullshit I have to deal with the city folk and libshits. I just want to be in oeace and mind with firearms, some entertainment and actual private property.
>>
>>30472005
Yes!! I know a guy who just went to the local small airlines, all prop no jets, and put in an application for "fill in/relief pilot" and he works non stop. He basically came up here on a cruise ship for a vacation and moved here permanently and if you fly tourists around they tip good.
>>
>>30472056
Well shit, I think I just figured my life out.

>>
>>30471951
Hey man, I've seen your pictures posted here every once in awhile for months now, maybe a couple years.

Just wanted to compliment you on them. Guns and nature work well together, and your state has got a lot of both. In due time I'd like the move there. Not a fan of the subtropical bullshit down here in Florida, although it could be worse as far as laws are concerned. I could live in California.

Hope all is well with you, and stay safe out there.

I work at a mining camp outside
Juneau and I've got a chest freezer stocked with veneson, duck, salmon, crab and some moose. I hit the store regularly to stock up but I generally base my meals around what I've hunted, fished or foraged myself.

Without saying to much big companies hire my small company to counter environmentalists who are opposed to any progress. They claim that they find environmental issues due to some companies bad practices. We go find the real cause and usually show up in court somewhere and explain it's natural and have to prove it. They get wrecked and pout, they even actually tried to get me to come over to the dark side.
>>
>>30471524
Things would still happen,

Like the government finds out then proceeds to kill you and your whole family then covered up that they did it without legal coverage.

BATFâ„¢

>>30468455
Rocket launchers are NFA registered Destructive Devices, so you can own one, explosive warheads are individually registered Destructive Devices as well.

In fact you can make your own on a form 1. Though you have to have a BATF approved magazine for the warheads.

Honestly, take thebfish and game hunters ed class and make friends with people who have a boat and hunt/fish regularly. The boat thing isn't really completely necessary but it makes things a lot easier.

Personally, I grew up here and my dad taught me bush craft, I've got a couple of friends who had never hunted before they moved up here. When they expressed interest I pointed them at the class and after they went through it I took then out on my weeks off and showed them the ropes. Most hunters are pretty cool about this kind of thing.
