Anybody /diy/ here?

Thinking about turning pic related into a chest rig. Would do the bandolier with a saw pouch on either side. Do you think I could just sew the three together, or would I be better off sewing them to a stripped chicom?
>>
>>30473805
I've found a few good brands, but they all have drawbacks.

Warrior assault systems is one, high quality materials, good craftsmanship, but UK based, and they have a tendency to use 500D cordura for accessories. The harness and hydration pack on my rig are made by them. The pouches are made by Flyye. It's 1000D Invista cordura, with good, mil spec threading but it's still technically knockoff chinese stuff, even if the quality is good.

The main reason I bought from who I did is just because getting American tactical gear in Canada, especially in A-Tacs is ridiculous.

Babby won't be able to tell the difference between banshee and apc. Tried both on at a based milsurp store, Banshee seemed slightly comfier and less bulky.

Minimalist is a different animal than ^ two. Both are going to have more padding and an actual cumberbund. If you need neither, Minimalist would be fine.

Let's hope they are as sweet as everybody says.
>>
>>30475682
Maybe my bullshit detector is off, but for some reason I think you're being genuine/not just showing off airshit gear. So, here we go:

>ACH with multi can cover
Helmets really aren't something that civilians would find themselves needing in a firefight. That being said, there are two major reasons for owning one as a civilian:
1. It serves as a base for night optics or other devices.
2. You are legitimately planning on fighting in infantry combat. Legit infantry combat where flak from mortars and grenades, slamming your head on an MRAP, or pieces of a roof tumbling onto your head is a real concern.
>condor cr7 chest rig
Condor gear is very poor quality. With plates in, their gear sags and wears. The fabric isn't durable for real hard use.
>with 6 ar mags
Looks like standard GI mags? Yeah, those work. Make sure you have anti-tilt followers.
>baofeng radio
I'm hoping that you actually have a good understanding of how to use it and have others with whom you actually need to communicate with. If not, it's dead weight.
>shemagh
It's a scarf. It doesn't serve any major functions in actual combat, but they can be nice sometimes.
>PSA mid length AR15 with dual aperture carry handle
They're decent rifles. It'll work.
>goggles
Again, for what? Sandstorms, propwash? If their isn't a serious intended use, they're dead weight.
>tigerstripe adaptive camo
You mean clothes. It's All-Terrain Tiger so I'm guessing it's made by Tru Spec, which is decent. The pattern is fine, but type and quality of clothing is more important.
>boots
They look like some kind of black surplus military issue boots...which are terrible. If they're comfortable for you, fine, but most people on earth would say there are better options out there.
>belt
Yup, need one of those.

>How did I do /K/
4/10
You tried, your clothes, rifle, and mags are good. Your carrier will be fine if not subjected to hard use. Consider losing some extra weight that you do not need. You need a water source and IFAK.
>>
>>30476424

>>
>>30474151
you can do it without sewing them together. Literally 550 cord the top and bottom of them. And you already know the bandolier has the bottom eyelettes specifically for making a chest rig.
>>
>>30476553
600 dollars for a pair of "combat pants" is ridiculous. You can buy a brand new Glock for less than that. You better pray you don't tear those (I'm sure they'll fix them, but have fun with Canuck shipping times). Crye pricing is around where I set the line Why do people keep giving Dead Bird their money? I swear I'm starting to regard Dead Bird as a tactical fashion brand.

The difference is the Strandhogg is a plate carrier and the Siege(s) are BALCS armor carriers. You need to decide if you want plates or plates + MBAV soft armor, or plates + BALCS soft armor. Then choose the carrier for your armor package.

Go jump in a mud puddle several times in your pants.

Throw it in the wash because the dirt prevents it from breathing
Repeat.

It won't last as long as regular nyco pants. Goretex was never intended to be used as fatigue, Goretex has a proper role, and that's in the Rain. Anything other than rain you're better off with water resistant clothing or BDUs

I didn't have to use IOTVs much (thank god) except in stateside training where we had public visibility and were told to look "nice". That said, the IOTVs are pretty shit when it comes to mounting pouches, thanks to the shitty layout. If possible, I'd grab a TAP which allows you to lay out the magazines across the front in a way that isn't awkward.

Before I say anything else, what's in the square pouch on the left side? What are the two canteen pouches holding? Are you actually carrying handgun mags or something else in the small pouches? Does your command let you wear aftermarket pouches with a decent amount of freedom?

We were issued those, but I found them bulky beyond all fuck and more annoying to use than just MOLLE-ing pouches on. I would use it if we had to wear our kit inside our tanks (so I could just snap it off inside, snap it on outside), but we don't, so I don't.
>what's in the square pouch on the left side?
IFAK. Newer version where it's velcroed shut, so you just need to pull the tab and the whole thing comes out.

In the field, gloves and eyepro and other small handy gear. On the range, snacks.
>Are you actually carrying handgun mags or something else in the small pouches?
Yup

So long as they're the same pattern. The pistol mag pouch on the chest is aftermarket since supply never issued the literal pile of pouches they have hiding in a connex

You could just run your straw under the velcro on your shoulder, its not going to mess with the QR or anything.

Maybe take off one of the canteen pouches, slap it on your med ruck or assault pack. Speaking of removing stuff, does your CO make you guys wear your collars, if not I'd ditch them. Anytime you go to a school you'll be running as slick as possible.

>In the field, gloves and eyepro and other small handy gear. On the range, snacks.

You don't need a pouch specifically for that stuff, it's taking up valuable space. Your vest should have as little crap on it as possible.

If you want to keep the gloves with the vest, hook them on a d-ring instead of a pouch. Eyepro in a case on the d-ring for storage, or just hooked through the MOLLE somewhere.

Snacks in a bag on the range.

I noticed you are wearing two canteen pouches, are they really both full of junk? If so, ditch one, and keep the other as your eventual NOD pouch.

>Are you actually carrying handgun mags or something else in the small pouches?
>Yup

Keep the handgun mags with the handgun. That means either on your normal belt, or on a duty/rigger/battle belt you are using to carry the handgun. I would recommend a duty or battle belt so you can start doing that first line concept.

>So long as they're the same pattern. The pistol mag pouch on the chest is aftermarket since supply never issued the literal pile of pouches they have hiding in a connex

Good. Given your restrictions, your layout isn't terrible. But I'd definately swap out the triple mag shingles for aftermarket ones, since the issued ones suck. Get whatever, possibly bungie tops, just something nice and tight.

Getting rid of one canteen pouch will also slim down your right side which will make drawing a handgun easier. Flat admin pouch on the chest if you need it for a notebook, pens, or other things which are needed, needed quickly, and often needed.

No, I am not cutting off my sleeves. The shirt is fine as it is.
>Where are your sup burns?
What? Suppressor burns? I'm not sure what you mean, please clarify.
>Cut your riggers belt.
No, I am not cutting my riggers belt either. If I were to cut it, the stitching will go to hell even if I were to try and sear it. The belt was ordered as a small and that's just the way it fits. It will be switched out for something better.
>And for fucks sake put that shit brand turn q below the mags.
Why? It's fine where it is.

>>30483167
>Oh, and the nod retention bungee hooks go in the slit on the bottom of the mount.
You do realize that I replaced the Ops Core VAS shroud with a Wilcox W4 shroud, right? If you were able to calm down, you would have noticed that. The W4 doesn't have slots on the bottom either.
Why does it even matter where I place my hooks (less than an inch difference)??

>>30483348
>Speaking of removing stuff, does your CO make you guys wear your collars, if not I'd ditch them. Anytime you go to a school you'll be running as slick as possible.
Yeah they're command required. Otherwise I'd do what I did in basic where half the company weren't even issued collars, and I could just skate by without it on.

I don't really mind them. They're a bitch to button up, but I'm not going to be the only guy going out spending money on shit I won't use for a long while.
>Flat admin pouch on the chest if you need it for a notebook, pens, or other things which are needed, needed quickly, and often needed.

>I don't really mind them. They're a bitch to button up, but I'm not going to be the only guy going out spending money on shit I won't use for a long while.

I hate those pouches with a passion. I can't fault for not wanting to spend lots of cash for training. If you deploy, definitely swap them out.

>I keep those in my pockets. They're needed often enough that it's better to have them on me at all times, not just kitted up.

The admin pouch was just a suggestion if you need more small things, but if you can keep them all in your pockets, that's good.

The most important thing is to make sure your vest doesn't get cluttered with shit that doesn't need to be there. That's why having gloves or pouches or whatever on it makes no sense. Importance number one is to keep junk off the vest.

I would strongly advise getting a standalone belt for your handgun and moving the mags to that belt. It clears the belt and it keeps ammo for a specific weapon with that weapon. I would potentionally say that at that point you can put your multitool and flashlight on that belt as well, and you have a handy little firstline.

I would keep electrical tape in one canteen sidepouch, and some extra NOD batteries in the other. Pick yourself up a headlamp for use around the FOB (or FTX, as it were). Doesn't have to be expensive, just something with a filter on it. You need something hands-free not attached to a helmet.

I would absolutely, 100% spend the ~$60 to upgrade your helmet straps to Ops-Core ones and make your life much easier.

For buying gear, don't always go new. Check out surplus shops near base for cheap pickups.

The canteen pouch that is being removed from your vest would be decently served being attached to your pack with a canteen (DO buy this new!), as a canteen is a very handy way to have an extra water source that's easy to refill on the go.

Someday I will get my sordin 75316
>>
>>30483920
have any links to something like it?
What about the vest?
>>
>>30484559
I meant the vest. It's kinda like the First Spear Patrolling Harness or maybe the Modox Turtle. It's kind of an older style design, so I'm not that aware of the specifics.
>>
>>30483848
Google "Molle harness" and you'll find a hundred pieces of kit like it.

Hell, even my harness at >>30473565
has similarities.
>>
>>30483848
It is a "SEAL CQB LBV" style harness. I know only that it is called this, not if it was actually ever issued to SEALs, as they generally seemed to sport standard LBVs, ALICE, or SPEAR equipment.

Any idea about the rest?
Gloves/boots? Elbow and knee pads?

I'm pretty sure the holster is generic but I could be wrong since I'm really new to this.

the back doesnt look the same

also the pouches dont match but for the most part it looks like it sort of
>>
>>30484750
That has a hydration pouch installed on it. Underneath is a standard layout LBV rear.

The pouch layout of a modular CQB vest is, well, modular. The pictured layout is pretty clearly imitated the setup of old Blackhawk vests though, if you care.

As for the boots and gloves and shit, that picture is tiny as fuck, and I'll bet the artist didn't have brandnames in mind for that stuff.

>>
>>30484798

>put a knife up for sale
>dude says he wants to buy it but is currently out in the field for a ex
>wait over a month till this guy comes back
>says he'll offer me anything in the USSOCOM supply chain as a token of gratitude for holding the knife for him
obviously I cant get super gucci shit like optics or anything for free but I can source rarer shit like Patagonia combat clothing through him, or like I said a free pair of comtacs.

if anyone knows of some cooler nylon, clothing, or other small items I could get lemme know.

Lucky duck. where do you get the contacts?

If you could get a Crye lv-mbav those go for oodles of cash.
>>
>>30484779
Any idea where I can get gloves and boots like that? Never seen something like that.

Also not sure but the camo is just some urban grey generic right?

Thanks for the help btw
>>
>>30484839
Holy fuck get some crye pants in some gucci camo pattern and sell them on ebay and finance your next gun purchase.
>>
>>30484921
The camo is a grey version of DBDU, which is the sort of knockoff that exists and gets sported in places like Iraq. The boots have some kind of generic gator on top which is why they look weird.
