Sicario tries to be realistic. John Wick is more stylized. It's somewhat like comparing Seven Samurai with Kill Bill. I prefer Sicario.

Sicario is fucking great.
John Wick is pretty good, most because of based Keanu, but it's got a lot of HIGHSPEEDLOWDRAG fights and shootouts in it that are a little overdone.
Both are worth a watch.

I really enjoyed Sicario, but I'm not surprised so many people on /k/ detest it. It's not for everyone. I'm not a film critic, and I'm not sure if I'm using the right words here to describe it but: it's slow, contemplative for long stretches. The most common complaints I see on /k/ relate to the pacing or the lead character, and I think you're largely missing the point of the film.

Sicario is very entertaining, has some cool gunfights. I wouldn't call it particularly "authentic" although it's far more realistic than your typical ACTIONSPLOSION film.
John Wick is awesome, it has John Woo-tier gunfu in a grim noir criminal underworld setting. Instant classic.

I liked both movies a lot, but I prefer John Wick a little bit over Sicario. I would say there were only 3-4 scenes (including the famous border scene) which were really /k/ and that's probably what makes this film still good, but John Wick on the other hand is just pure adrenaline combined with a semi good plot.

I really don't understand why people literally ejaculate during the highway scene, but all in all it's a decent movie about corruption in the government and the scale of the drug war. Watching it for anything else is honestly kind of dumb, though there are people here who consider any movie that features basic motions like reloading a gun to automatically become "/k/ approved", whatever that means.

If you want authentic tactics, then look no further than Act of Valor and Sabotage. Say what you want about the acting in the former and the plot of the latter, but when it comes to tactics, both movies are spot fucking on.
