Glass is great. It's not ATACR nice, but for a 2.5-10 its the best you can find in a tactical scope.
Milr reticle is great, illumination is good, but no non dot illumination is bright day visible really. The x24 model tunnels on high magnification and the x42 model was a little to big in profile for my tastes but it does have some extra features.
Not a fan of the vortex clone, not as well built, and the reticle on it seemed a really, really dark brown, not pitch black. That and SCARs have been known to let you use that vortex warranty with too much frequency

Short answer : buy DSA. SA58 if you can swing it, voyager if you can't. Entreprise FALs are generally good. Avoid CAI. Garage built FALs can be great or horrible. FALfiles is a great resource, and if you get a lemon they can help you diagnose and repair.

Well, you're putting a lot of money into the rifle with the lightest barrel profile. It would be better to sell what you've got and buy a 91FR.

The SCAR was designed as a battle rifle, not a dmr. It just happens to be really accurate. Mine will do moa with good ammo, better shooters than !e have wrung out like .9moa. 800m? People have used the 13" bbl to ring steel at 800.
If you want a precision shooter, and the tip top accuracy, get a GAP10 in 6.5 creedmoor
The SCAR, currently, is largely a one size fits all solution. Until the aftermarket starts pumping out barrels. If that one size will work for you, it will probably be the best thing to do so.
If it's not quite what you wanted, then go another route. A piston AR in .308 isn't really that different to me. At 800, a 6.5 is just too much more forgiving.
So the SWFA SS 10x42 looks nice. Can it handle the stress of the HK91? I have seen other scopes in slow motion video get tossed around like Jello. Thats my main concern.

For public consumption in the US there are two barrels avalible for the 17 :16" and 13"
The only 20" barrels to hit the united States of murrica were a few that some European chap bought and shipped over. These went on the auction sites, and were snapped up for thousands.
A few longer barrels have been made by HDD, but since nothing is ever in stock, and they don't seem to be taking orders for anything, these don't count.
If you want a 20" bbl for the 17s your going to wait for the aftermarket to get tooled up or FN to release them.
If you want a 17s at a decent price sold to you by good people, call the pro shop.

So, the Mega MATEN is compatible with DPMS pattern AR10 rails and handguards. But I've seen a few pictures around of Daniel Defense quadrails mated to this receiver set. Does anyone have any experience with this?
There aren't as many offerings out there for AR10 handguards but this combo looks really nice, though I don't really know if it's meant to work, or if modern production of each part still allows it. After all, the DD rails are meant for AR15s, not AR10s. I mean, their new .308 rifle uses an entirely different rail system from their previous rifles.
