I had a 1:9 DPMS 16" barrel that will shoot circles around my 1:7 BCM barrel with 55gr match ammo. After putting all types of ammo through the 1:8 on my precision gun I'm pretty convinced that's the most utilitarian twist out there, no reason not to get it if given the option and you are not shooting a short carbine.

Geissele didn't state a start time, just that it would last friday to Monday. Just assume it'll start midnight est friday.
Last time it ran for like, 2 weeks?, and they would sometimes randomly up date at like 3am. The trend was ar rails sell out first, then triggers, then other rails and triggers, then tools don't sell out at all.
By limiting the time to just 4 days this time, I'm guess once something is sold out, it's sold out. Seems like they aren't implementing a limit this time either

It's usually cheaper to get a rifle kit on PSA (not ptac) and a stripped lower from wherever, but the colt and m&p are both good.

Built mine without ever having owned one as well. It's really very easy. I built mine just by following along with YouTube videos. And if you're worried about it working just take it to a smith to have them take a look at it before you fire it, and keep track of all the pieces you ordered so that you know the specs.
