Improving it with tacticool plastic and tapco mags etc would only take the appeal away.

Someone post that pic of the heavily modified SKS. The one that is done very, VERY well and looks amazing. Had a bull barrel and was straight pull I believe with a deleted gas system.

I love both of those rifles and my aks, but would definitely pick my cz vz58 over any of them. It's just the handiest rifle I own, a few mins from being the nearly perfect vehicle rifle, or the most comfy fixed stock gun I own when I throw that on.

Not him but it just looks wrong without a bayonet, I can understand why one would get rid of it and the job was well done but bayonets are just fun to have.

Another vote for better sights+longer radius. Better trigger would also be great. Spring loaded firing pin for safety.
Personally I'd like to keep the fixed magazine and bayonet. They're essential to the "all ready to go" spirit of the SKS where you can grab the rifle and some ammo and you're set.
