You'd know if you'd read the sticky instead of making this b8 thread.

Wheres the best place to look for one? Classic has yugo but not a fan of the way it looks with the grenade launcher, also heard the barrels not great on it. Prefer russian made, even if it is a little used.
>>
>>30451745

inna woods
>>
>>30453346
Gunbroker and local shops for Russian. For the money, the Yugo from classic is the best you can get.

Used to be the poster gun of /k/ when it was still cheap.

Then it was the Mosin when that was still cheap.

What's the poster gun of /k/ now that everything is expensive?
>>
>>30453593
Closest thing probably would be an AK or AR. Seeing as they are somewhat cheap. But I'm pretty sure that /k/ will find a new obscure but accessible milsurp rifle and ammo to gualk at.

>>30451745
That SKS? Shit tier.

In general? One of this boards saying is literally "grab SKS and go innawoods" so I'm thinking the consensus is that we like it.
>>
>>30451755
Me too. It's comfy.

>>30453346
Nothing wrong with the Yugo SKS, you just can't leave corrosive salts from old surplus ammo sitting in the bore overnight, since the bore isn't chromed.

You can't really get that old stuff these days anyway, so it's not a big deal.

>>30454467
It'll still shoot, won't it?

Not worth it from a budget standpoint now that ARs and WASRs are so cheap. Just save a little while longer.

You can get a chinkshit or Yugo SKS for $300

It's more like, "don't buy that nugget, get SKS"

It's still the cheapest bottom line for a semi auto rifle out there.

It's .30 caliber boolit and lack of detachable (read: lose-able) magazines makes it a decent woodsgun that can kill man-weight and smaller game.

Other than that, though, it's heavy, less than accurate, and if you start trying to play bubba with it to make it into something it isn't, you start realising that you should have bought an entry level AR instead.

Basically, if you think of the SKS as the ultimate .30-30 levergun replacement, it's balls to the walls awesome.

If you think of it as "cheap AK", then it's a horrible gun that you should never consider buying.
>>
>>30455486
>good ironsights
ehh I love my SKS to death but the irons are shite
>>
>>30458651
That makes a lot of sense. I love my .44 lever but ammo is a bit expensive for plinking or serious woods load outs. Spitzer points, cheap ammo, semi auto, stripper clips, and a bayonet would be a nice upgrade.

I fell for the Innawoods Maymay and passed up an opportunity to buy an AK before my home state b& them. I regret not having an AK as an F-U to the Baltimore-Washington blue voters and representatives.

However, it's no doubt a decent gun. I like mine except for the trigger.

Then don't show it to anyone outside the range, but do show them your target groups.

So fixed stock AMD 63 is better than folding stock AMD 65? Even if the stock on the 63 is American made?

okay guys would it be a niggery idea to relieve the top of the action that interfaces with the edge of the gas block area? Mine can kind of rub on either side of the inside of the bolt it might be a bit smoother with a relief.

Also anyone ever consider a trigger job?
>>
>>30451745
Wpuld love to see it modernized and in a variety of calibers.

Could you imagine if a 5.56 and .300blk version was made for the US market?

Make a stainless steel variant and you have my dream rifle.

Dunno about yall but despite looking pretty and being fun to shoot, my VZ2008 was a total piece of shit. Regular FTFs and I couldn't shoot better than like 6 MOA from bench. I am not a poor shot, it was definitely the gun. Sold it ASAP for a modest profit.
>>
>>30465475

Yes the poorly made century parts kit guns do suck. The fit and finish is inferior and accuracy is so poor that it can't be effectively used past 100 yards. HOWEVER, the original CSA rifles are very nice. I own one myself and it's extremely light weight, points well, and is comfortable to use.
>>
>>30465696

Man I'm jealous. They're too expensive now for what they are, I'd have bought one for $7-800 or so.
>>
Should I get a yugo sks from classic or a type 56 from JGsales?

The type 56s are cheaper but caked in cosmoline and are beat up.
>>
thought it was nice enough to shoot but man do i hate the irons.
>>
>>30465929
How beat up? If the stock is all fucked up, you could get a new one.

There isn't any shame in putting it in a plastic rifle stock for utility's sake, it's still an SKS (IMO it'd look the best with a OD green plastic stock).

Cosmoline can be bothersome, but it's not like it's impossible to get out.
>>
Anybody know about a Chinese spiker SKS with "DP" as the factory mark? Nothing else on it except some Chinese characters that just say "type 56 carbine".

Got it new in the Cosmoline last week, completely unfired. Only info I can find online about factory "DP" is wild speculation on SKSboards from like 10 years ago
>>
>>30466181
Well, the stocks are supposed to be packed in cosmoline, and be beat up and stuff. Supposed to be the possibility of small cracks.
>>
>>30455599

Is it because there are no more being imported in the U.S.?
But they are still being imported in canada?
