For that price, you're better off with a bump helmet. PASGTs aren't exactly ergonomic, and an ACH w/ a decent suspension/pad system is out of your range.

Get a PASGT off ebay for like $50-$100 max. Then buy a skydex helmet upgrade kit so you can get rid of the old suspension system and put in pads and a nicer chinstrap.

The main purpose of a combat helmet is not to stop bullets, but to protect from shrapnel, debris and hitting your head if you fall.

Fellow copfag. I kept my ACH from the army. Surplus and even new ACH and similar IIIA helmets can be found for well under $400. Not sure why people are saying they cost so much. I keep the ACH and my Banshee with III+ plates in my trunk for those bad days. My advice though if you get an ACH, spend the extra couple bucks and get an aftermarket suspension/strap setup. The black nylon straps irritate your skin so bad especially when you're sweaty and have that 5 o clock shadow coming in. Also IIIA is rated to stop high velocity pistol ammunition and shrapnel but not rifle rounds, so it may or may not save your dome piece. Be safe broseph.
