I had a RIA, the parkerized finish on it was great, very dark and even. The same can't be said for the inside of the pistol, however.

most second and third gen smith and wesson auto's, basically any number series with a 3 or 4 digit model not ending in 4 or 14, was stainless and any number of state and federal agencies carried them for years until the polymer craze kicked in, some still do, even in 10mm auto.
this was the gun that the FBI was going to adopt when they were looking at 10mm.

i'd love to get whole guns in those matte finishes too.
Colt like to give many of their guns and their controls a medium matte bead blast finish, but then they like to brush smooth the flats on the sides of the receiver and slide for reasons.
little hard to see in this pic, but the areas left matte darken a tad after you get some gun oil on them and use it some. it also gives a little grip in the hand.
