1. It's a general

2. It's a general composed of self-important tripfags will mid-range ARs. Said tripfags act like they just walked on the moon because they have said mid-range ARs.

3. You contribute nothing of value to the board. That's not a unique accusation, but you guys have somehow managed to surpass the cunts in the /ak/ threads for most recycled bullshit conversation ever.

I like the stock plenty, they're releasing a rubber pad for the back though which will be able to be retrofit onto them. I think this will be a good addition since the plastic can feel a bit slick on certain fabrics.

>>30437646
I ordered a Protac Rail Mount 1 because I liked the idea of being able to use the AA batteries and that. I read good reviews about it, but they are still pretty new and not many major reviews are out on either 1 or 2.

Id take the protac rail mount. Its usually p.affordable, comes with a proper tape switch that you can mount to a pic rail (fuck you jewfire) and it can mount to all of the gucci surefire scout mounts out there, on top of the good light quality and durability of a streamlight product.

Okay, so I fudged.

I bought an Colt LE6290 because it never occured to me that I could build my own.

But now I'm going to try and modify it to be better. What immediate upgrades should I do? I want use it as basically a varmint gun.

If you dont want to use a proprietary barrel nut then the samson evolution is g2g. If you are cheap then the ALG free floater is great. If you go the latter route then you might want to swap the barrel out anyway.

Otherwise you could buy a 20" 1:9 barreled upper with a free floater pre-installed separately for varmint use, and keep the 16" colt one for cqb operating during the zombie apocalypse nwo obammening. It will be much easier to swap uppers than barrels.

So regarding 5.56x45 vs 7.62x39.

Is fragmentation from 5.56 consistent and dramatic enough to be considered a superior round? Or is it a meme on the same level as "filling an AK with sand and it will still work".

For the sake of keeping it simple, lets just confine this to FMJs.

No, it only fragments above certain velocities, and depending where you hit the person. I would, however say the round is better when its OTM or a hollowpoint, and a heavier bullet like 75 or 77gr

I consider it superior considering that it is lighter. That is for under 300yds. Beyond that distance 5.56 loses the velocity that it requires to effectively fragment.

Stupid question here.

Just finished my first Lower build.

How much and where should i Oil/Grease it?

The hammer and trigger group came with some on it and the hammer face now has none left because of my thumb pushing down while i was fiddling with getting it installed.

Now I assume that none is needed their. But i dont want to make an ass out of myself by acting only on my assumption.

I also am guessing from not being an idiot in my garage that all i need is a couple of drops of oil in all the rotating parts.

Am i correct in both of these assumptions?

Yeah they feel fine. Stock has real tight spec so it doesn't rattle at all. They're starting to produce rubber pads for the back and retrofitting them. I'd imagine they'd release a stock with that pre-installed in the future. As it is it's a little slick on certain fabrics.

Pistol grip is comfy.

Got some NFA questions here.

I'm tossing around the idea of building a pistol and SBRing it (keeping it a pistol while I wait the 6-12 months or whatever for the ATF to tell me I'm a good goy and generously take $200 off of my hands)

What would be an optimal barrel length for a 5.56 SBR?

I'd like to eventually acquire a .300blk upper. Is there going to be a legal problem with me swapping a different length upper onto my lower?

What can would be good? I was looking into the 7.62 Saker from Silencerco.

I don't really go out of state much so the problem I'd run into with taking my rifle with me wouldn't come up often if at all.

Is it worth it to go the SBR route or should I build a carbine first and then wait to build a dedicated .300blk SBR later? I got to play with an SBR over the weekend and it was fun as fuck.

>What would be an optimal barrel length for a 5.56 SBR?
11.5" or 10.3"

>Is there going to be a legal problem with me swapping a different length upper onto my lower?
No.

>What can would be good?
Silencerco and Surefire both have great options.
>>
>>30439666
Optimal is subjective, unfortunately.
>muh velocity
14.5" with a non-pinned MD. Technically NFA.
>muh compact
7.5" guns exist, and (if built right) can be reliable.
>muh mk18 clone
10.3". Faxon and DD make barrels, probably others.
>muh short-ish but still easy to build/tune
11.5" is a pretty decent all-rounder, 10.5" can be a little finicky to tune but usually isn't a problem.

There is no legal issue with swapping whatever upper you want with your SBR'd lower. If you wanna throw a 24" bull barreled varmint blaster on there, or an 18" .458socom barrel, or whatever, they don't care.

Silencerco's Omega seems to be top dog right now for AR's. Rated for full auto fire on everything from .22mag through .300RUM and has decently short minimum barrel lengths, plus it's light and not too outrageously expensive (unlike Surefire). It's also quiet as shit.

It is absolutely worth doing an SBR, and if you really feel the need to travel, slap together a second pistol lower with something like a KAK shockwave blade for travel.

>and stop burning your steak, Satan

You could always go with a super-fat handguard and do something like Spikes' Compressor with the suppressor under the first ~2" of rail :)
>>
What do you guys personally prefer to use as a grip on your gun(angled, stubby, etc.)? Just picked up my SIG 516 yesterday and still can't decide what I should put on it, or should I just leave it as is?
>>
>>30439768
Problem with that is I'd have to probably run a Noveske pig or more likely a KAK knockoff of the pig under it until I got a can.

I guess I'm not terribly against that but would that interfere with using a surefire mount?
>>
>>30439783
Hand stop.

It's lightweight, simple, HSLD, and the most comfortable for me.
>>
>>30439745
>10"?
Yes
>>
>>30439783
All but my "other" (27" pistol) are just bare handguard. I've got a BCM stubby on my "other", and that's primarily to make sure my hand is nowhere near the very-in-reach muzzle.

>>30439804
Haven't burned myself with an A2 yet on mine, but I'd definitely avoid a brake.

And yeah, it'd interfere with most non-TOMB suppressor mounts since you won't have access to whatever ratchet system it uses. Ideally you'd use a direct-thread can (or the direct-thread adaptor for said can, in the case of SiCo products like the Omega/Saker/Specwar), since TOMB cans aren't really all that secure and will work loose.

I'd say it depends on barrel length and twist rate. As a rule, a shorter barrel with a higher twist will do better with heavier bullets, while a full 20" barrel is ideal with 55gr M193.

I don't want to be that asshole but using a zipppo to light a cigar fouls its flavor. Ask for a strip of cedar from your tobacconist to light with your lighter and then light your cigar with. Alternatively, you can use the nice wooden matches they usually give out, just wait a few seconds after striking it. This is like cigar smoking 101 guys...

Dumb question, but...

Is there any difference between an AR10 and an AR15 in .308? I see some merchants/sites advertise AR10 parts and AR15 parts, but then they'll have .308 barrels labeled as AR15. What am I not understanding here?
>>
>>30440994
There are no AR15's in .308
If AR10 barrels are in the AR15 parts, it's an error, or they just put the AR10 parts in there because they just have a few AR10 parts while having a lot of AR15 parts

It was literally a couple people in a wing of a company NOT ASSOCIATED with the folks who manufacture their products who hired the Ruby Ridge spotter asshole. It was taken care of once brought to the attention of upper management and the people who run the manufacturing end. That's pretty stand-up behavior in my book even if you are being a moral Orel.

You are literally punishing hard working middle class Americans for the decision of a couple assholes who work for a subsidiary of their parent company. >Can't understand something shown clearly on a picture
>learn english faggot
lol ok
>hating Troy for things
>Telling a French man that Troy is shit and they did bad shit
>Expecting french dude to care

Also, if you hate every company, you end up with litteraly no AR. What would you do in my place ? Take the Troy or keep your non-milspec german made AR ?

Also this Troy works just fine so, yeah, keep a Taurus in your vagina and press the trigger.

Troy hired some of the feds from Ruby Ridge. IIRC the sniper that shot the unarmed pregnant wife (but someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm tired as fuck)

EoTech lied about their optics capabilities to the point where they got the shit sued out of them and offered a full refund on any and all optics. No real problems other than I won't buy one of their optics unless they royally unfuck this and even then it's a stretch.

Taurus is just fucking shit and I don't trust their guns.

Cheaper than Dirt went full jew post sandy hook and canceled orders so they could re list shit at completely asanine prices. Shit like $1 a round cases of 5.56 and $100 basic GI aluminum AR mags.

Buds had a big black friday scandal a couple years ago. Baiting people in with good deals and then swapping prices out in the carts. They blamed it on theur system not being able to handle the traffic but they refused to do anything about it.

Literally who are you? I know what they did and I wasn't stupid enough to buy any products when they were taking full advantage of the market. Ain't the free market grand?

>Some of the feds
They hired ONE man. He was an FBI spotter who said "I would have taken the shot" backing up his partner, who shot unarmed Americans for no God damned reason.

People think I somehow support the federal government and the FBI for Ruby Ridge by still supporting Troy, WHO FIRED THE GUY ONCE THEY BECAME AWARE HE HAD BEEN HIRED BY THEIR SUBSIDIARY.

Perfect example of internet autism at work. The above somehow morphs into "they hired the FBI kill teams from Ruby Ridge and Waco and teach others to shoot unarmed Americans for fun."

Do you not remember them literally canceling already places orders to price gouge them?

They can do that if they want just like I can tell them to suck a fat cock by never buying from them or even giving them traffic.

The free market goes both ways you driveling retard.

I'm new to ARs and bought a M&P-15

I fired a few mags out of it and it was fine. Late I pulled the charging handle the buffer tube retaining pin went up into the bolt and ruined the spring. Any idea what would cause this?

What irks me is that the response from Troy was sluggish, and honestly they never condemned the mans actions or the feds motives/actions for the massacre.

Again, they can still fix this, its just going to take sincere effort.

I never knew they were doing that. That being said I don't buy from CTD regardless, they never have that great of prices on anything they sell and people say their shipping is all types of terrible. That being said if there was an expensive item I needed and CTD could somehow save me $100 on it, hell yeah I'm going to give them a shot.

It does work both ways, I'm not the one telling you to buy from them, you're the one telling me not to buy from them.

They hired TWO men, and only ONE was fired.

Fucks sake, can you not google this ahead of time?

Dale Monroe STILL works for Troy.

As for the condemnation, action speaks louder than words. They fired him for his participation in that operation. I think that's a pretty fucking strong condemnation.

The sluggish response is understandable. If you've ever own or run a business, you know that the ability to get sued for wrongful termination is always imminent in these situations. You have to make sure all reasons and methods are legally sound or the courts will fuck you in the ass. That usually takes some time.

They only fired one and there was no written or stated condemnation of his actions, values, or reasoning behind his hiring.

The sluggish reaction was them trying to make ignore the peasantry that was complaining about it.

I've gotten like 5 differing "reports" on who has been hired, fired and what has or hasn't been said to be quite honest. I'm still with the other person/people that will buy Troy products, but it's pretty shitty of them if that account is true.
