All of our modern mines have a relay that is energized to "on" powered by a battery. when the battery dies, the relay turns off, and trips a "deadman's switch". The mines autodestruct after that.
Some of the really new fuckers are basically suicide cellphones in terms of creating adhoc networks, sensors, etc.
