I proofed a barrel I made out of those brass hammer things JB welded into a what I think is a seamless steel pipe the theory being that the thick brass would act as a powder chamber like a mortor to contain the brunt of the pressure while being retained by the tube. Bullet was made out of wheel weight cast into aluminum foil moulds and sized with pliers, just smaller than a 9mm which sucks.
Used about a 9mm case full of shotgun powder and fired it off in a vice with a home made electric fuse with the cellar style basement door closed just in case, blew the flat screwdriver bit out but the barrel held.
Unfortunatly it bent somewhere along the line so Im not going to bother carving a grip, just going to seal it back up with a bolt and more JB weld fire it until it blows.

Not sure what sort of information you'd like. I used about 6" of a .22" airgun barrel, Industry Brand, tightly fitted (hammered in) to a bit of aluminum then pinned. Turned down the back 1/2" and hand cut the threads with a die. Cut a matching rear section and tapped threads into that, using 7075 aluminum. The stuff inside that is as shown. The barrel has a couple of 1/8" holes drilled at about 2" and 4" and is reduced in that section to about 1/2 the barrel wall thickness, which combined with the ID of the 3/4" tube gives some initial expansion volume. Then up front there's about 6" of washers, hammered into a form so they're conical, separated by various lengths of brass tubing chopped into spacers. The last 1/2" is an aluminum end cap, turned to fit snug, then drilled and tapped for a couple of set screws. The chamber is reamed using a modified drill bit and polished, and a slot cut on a diagonal to allow pushing out spent casings with a knife tip or whatever. That enough?

ETN, RDX and many other modern high explosives are made by nitration, which is the process of adding nitro- groups to organic compounds. This is usually achieved in practice by adding the compound to a mixture of concentrated sulfuric and nitric acid.
Concentrated nitric acid is difficult to obtain and store safely, so nitrate salts like ammonium nitrate or potassium nitrate are often used as a substitute. The sulfuric acid tears up the salt, producing nitric acid and a sulfate.
So much for the chemistry. The average anon needs simple instructions for acquiring reagents and equipment. First, the sulfuric acid:
I usually purchase battery acid and concentrate it for my nitrations, but only because I can't find drain opener (Zonk or Rooto) in local stores. Battery acid can be acquired at NAPA or other auto stores in 20 L plastic bags. Concentrate the acid by boiling in a Pyrex container until it has lost 85 percent of its volume. There will be copious amounts of corrosive sulfur trioxide fumes. Do not inhale the fumes or place a body part within them. In fact, it would be best if the boiling is done outside. Once the acid is concentrated and cooled, pour it into a glass container and cover it.
Next, the nitrate salt. I usually use ammonium nitrate (AN) because it is readily available:
Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) can be found in some brands of instant cold pack and fertilizer. It must first be separated from calcium carbonate, which is used to prevent the AN from being used in IEDs. Because AN is soluble in water and calcium carbonate is not, most amateur chemists simply dissolve the CAN in water, filter out the carbonate, and boil the water until a sludge of AN is left. I prefer to perform the same procedure with methyl alcohol (methanol) instead, because AN is so hygroscopic. It can be very frustrating to remove the last bit of water from recrystallized AN.

Finally, the erythritol:
Erythritol is found as a filler in the artificial sweetener Truvia and in health food stores and online as a sugar substitute. If you only have access to Truvia you will have to perform a simple recrystallization using water. Google it if you don't know what to do, it's pretty simple. I do find that the recrystallized erythritol can be difficult to scrape off of the walls of a beaker.
Once you have the reagents, it's time for the procedure, which is similar to the RDX synthesis shown earlier in the thread:
In terms of simple ratios, it's 10 mL sulfuric acid to 6 g AN to 2 g erythritol. I would not recommend going higher than double those amounts for your first synthesis.
-Pour the sulfuric acid into the pyrex reaction vessel and cool it in the freezer
-While the acid is cooling, powder the AN and erythritol in a coffee grinder. Remember to clean the grinder!
-Place the reaction vessel in a bath of cold water and add the AN in small increments while stirring with a teflon implement
-Do not allow the temperature to exceed 20 C, or some nitric acid will be lost to evaporation
-Once the mixed acids have sorted themselves out, add the erythritol in small increments while stirring with a teflon implement
-Again, do not allow the temperature to exceed 20 C. This time the risk is of a very unpleasant runaway nitration.
-After adding the erythritol, allow the nitration to proceed for around an hour, stirring every five minutes. There is some dispute as to what amount of time is ideal for the best yields
-Pour the nitrated product slowly into a large amount of cold water. Crystals of raw ETN will precipitate.
-Add baking soda until the water is neutralized (No foaming or other reactions)
-Filter out and dry the raw ETN on paper towels

At this point you will need to recrystallize in methanol in order to purify the ETN.
-Pour the raw ETN crystals into a beaker
-Heat methanol to 60 C and pour it slowly into the beaker while stirring until the raw ETN dissolves
-Allow the solution to cool until the ETN precipitates
-Filter out and dry the ETN
The crystals can be detonated by blasting caps, high voltage electrical discharges (which are fun by themselves) and by strong heating while in contact with aluminum foil.

Vaseline is a readily available plasticizer for ETN. That would be the simplest way for the average person to make an equivalent of C4. In order to detonate this substance in a controlled manner via a high voltage discharge:
-Purchase a microwave, take out the capacitor and remove the capacitor's internal resistor. There are online guides for doing this.
-Tie the capacitor leads together. If the capacitor is charged and the leads are not tied, you will be fatally electrocuted if you touch the leads.
-Purchase some 2 gauge wire for discharge leads.
-Wire the capacitor in parallel with the discharge leads, a switch and a high voltage step-up generator (Little gizmo that steps up input voltage from ~6 V to ~5 kV. Found on ebay) and power supply.
-Drill through the side of a small plastic tube (Like a pen body) and secure the discharge leads to either side
-Stuff the tube with ETN crystals. Don't pack the crystals too tightly.
-Detonate by actuating the switch after charging the capacitor.
-There are many options available for which type of high-voltage switch to use. Default to the safest one.
I implore anyone reading this to be as safe as possible around the capacitor circuit. The explosives I've described are relatively insensitive and will probably only blow your fingers off in the event of an accident. This circuit could kill you in an instant.

Okay, ill go step by step. The barrel is about 3.5 feet long. I have ballpoint valve in it, and it takes about 1 or 2 miliseconds for it to fully open.. The reseivor has 45 in3. I dont know how much does the projectile weight, but its 3,1 inches long nail with diameter of 0,12 inches with first half wrapped with duct tape to the diameter of the barrel, so it fits rather nicely, there should be just a bit of air getting past it. Forget about the sheet metal, i would like to know what could it genneraly do. FPS would be nice.

When I've posted it in the past I've included a description. It's a PRIG (projected recoilles improvised grenade), also known as a Cookielauncher. It was used created and used by the IRA to shoot improvised grenades at policecars and feed pidgeons.
It's pretty much just an open tube with a small holder of explosive charge in the middle, a projectile in the front of the tube, and a countershot in the back of the tube. The idea is that it would be recoilless because it fired out of both ends of the tube, the front would fire a grenade like pic related, and the back would just fire something like a packet of cookies, hence its nickname

Okay, so I looked over that forum and got a rough idea for a build. It's entirely pvc pipe and pve caps. The idea is that the pvc caps will have holes drilled out to be a little larger than the round and be put into a larger pvc pipe, which would then be capped off. The gas would be caught by the caps inside and escape through holes in the middle caps to distribute throughout the suppressor. Any thoughts/flaws that stick out like a sore thumb?

Really varies a lot, depending on the optimization of the design for the round and load. 25dB is probably minimum reduction..some of the best K cans achieve about 38 to 40dB reduction with subsonics.
With washers and spacers you might get as much as 30dB, but a plain baffle can works best with lots of volume. A great K type can be very small.

Okay, I drew up a version 2. This one includes a small pipe in the first stage that has many a hole in it, with steel wool wrapped around to help cool the gases. The second stage would be the pvc caps redirecting the gas flow within the suppressor to slow the escaping gases. Any suggestions?

except you can't distill >80% nitric acid without a vacuum pump and good glassware and you have to have urea to remove any NOx dissolved in the acid. Nitrate salt/sulfuric acid is much simpler

concentrating peroxide is just for convenience, and I would never want to make a large batch at one time. You can heat peroxide to 80C and blow air over it to concentrate it to about 20% with minimal decomp if youre careful. That said, organic peroxides are a deathwish and eat fingers. Also there is a reason the threads are internal on the end of suppressor tubes, it's so you can screw the end-cap down into the pipe enough to compress the baffles and hold everything in place.

First baffle should not be ported, it acts like the crown on the end of the muzzle, but after the first baffle turbulence is fine.
First baffle slows a lot of the gas behind the bullet then you can turbulence and cool the shit out of it with further baffles.

Okay, so I fired a couple shots without the suppressor, and the db meter showed about 132-139, and with the suppressor was 117-126. It's not as quiet as a professional made one, but it's a work in progress and will be improved. Also, I'm going to purchase sub sonic rounds as I read that will help

Baffles take many forms. Essentially they serve to strip away pressure from the bore. So a fairly close tolerance to the flight of the projectile is important, usually no more then about 1/5 of the bullet diameter on all sides and preferably tighter than that. This requires precision alignment to the firearm or airgun bore, to prevent destruction of the baffles and end cap. Alignment comes from the shoulder of the threaded section around the muzzle in most cases, though some may shoulder on the muzzle crown itself, and some are integrals which use a second contact point further back on the barrel for alignment.

It can be. If you don't have a threaded muzzle with good square-to-the-bore shoulder and lack other related machining abilities, then indexing from further back on the barrel is a good approach to achieve alignment. You really cant have even a low powered bullet hitting your can, at all. It's dangerous and completely fucks up accuracy. And is noisy. Just focus on alignment, study baffle options, and figure out what's the best design for your limitations.
