If you need to send firearms through other services contact the CFP to make sure they are licensed to do so, and that the package both requires signature and travels by ground only.

1 usd to .70 CaD.

If you could provide a really pristine SVT40. $800 USD.

Logging roads cross the border too. So you could drive.
>>
>>30428241
Once again, fuck no. It isn't worth the risk to me when I know SVTs are like $1500 USD and up. I'd consider a trade for a top quality M1 Garand, or something like an FAL that I can't get up here but no way I'd run it for less.

The range owner can technically tell you to fuck off regardless of the law though, since it's a private club, innit?

It's all well and good for people with a lot of ranges nearby, but some people might be fucked if they burn their bridges by getting into it with the range owner over their magazine capacity.

When did I say anything about being rude to the owner of the range? How about you learn to be polite? Suddenly all your problems will disappear and people will like you.

I doubt that anyone who owns a range would be ignorant of magazine capacity laws. As the owner of a range you need to keep up on gun news to not get broadsided by the CFO.

The only guys that will give you shit are the fudds that show up once a year to fire one shot on a bench rest, and curse at anyone under 60. They have no power and nobody likes them.

that's exactly what he meant, that you would explain it to them, and maybe give a citation of where/how they can look it up

you have assburgers
>>
>>30431581
if the person is actually hassling you and has no right to, it's generally acceptable to be a bit curt so he knows he is not welcome to talk to you anymore

the range owner is responsible for what happens on his range and has the power to remove people from his range, so it's implicit that you shouldn't be rude to him

how did you get to be gun bearing age and not learn basic human stuff?

>>30431675
if someone is just asking a question that's not "hassling". if simply explaining how it worked is enough, then there's no problem and no need to tell the person to go away. the premise of this discussion was another range member being unreasonable about your use of perfectly legal magazines, something he has no right to do

if you want some exact instructions on what to do in a stressful situation, try this:
1.) Unlock your firearm if it isn't already
2.) Load it with the proper ammunition and make sure there's one in the chamber
3.) Ensure that all safeties are off
4.) Point the gun at yourself
5.) Pull the trigger

It's because they were used in the military not long before the laws were passed and the Senators saw a bunch about them in "Guns n Ammo" magazines that they were looking through and decided they were too scary. If you consider slam fire to be full auto then all semis would be banned.
>>
>>30434733
Yeah if they had passed as non military still ez to use a shim on semi autos to make them full auto.
>>
>>30434780
If it isn't them being retards over slamfire, then it's them being retards over shoestring machine guns because muh 'ciprocating charging handle. Once again, retarded. It was named under one of the OICs, meaning politicians prohibited it. This means it was done because of appearance or because it was advertised in a magazine or some other silly reason, not because of any actual capabilities that would require understanding of how firearms work.
>>
ARES AMG belt-fed upper. Are these available in Canada?
>>
>>30434806
I said shim not shoestring, or the m14/m305 would be banned as well.
>>
>>30434530
Anon, you have to think like a lib.

Full auto doesn't mean you run through your ammunition like a motherfucker, battling a shit ton of recoil to control your accuracy and wasting way more ammunition on a single target than you should; it means you just turned on a real life infinite ammo cheat and can blow away millions of people with a single magazine, firing from the hip because your bullets curve mid flight to make sure every single one goes inbetween someones eyes.
>>
>>30434833
Well that's my point. Since it was done by politicians, it's not because of any actual possibility of conversion to full auto, but rather because they associated it with the military, and places like Rhodesia and whatnot, then decided it's too scary.
>>
>>30434849
Well not quite they associated it with the SLR and L1A1 which our military was using at the same time. Same deal almost happened with the AR-15 but we fought and won it in court thats why AR's are restricted. Its unfortunate that FAL's were not as close in popularity to the AR.

So it literally doesn't matter if a safe is easy to open, as long as it locks it's fine?
>>
>>30437808
If it's advertised as a safe it's one for the firearms storage laws. Anything else will be classed as a cabinet as long as it locks.
>>
>>30437808
The short answer is yes.

The long answer is that if it ever came down to it, it will depend on how reasonable you're being, and/or how big of an asshole the RCMP/prosecution is.

It's readily obvious that storage laws aren't very black and white.

There is a fairly popular story floating around the internet about some guy who got charged with improper storage because some burglars broke into his safe while he was on vacation, even though his storage was considered "overkill" and "excessive" by most people (it took the burglars several DAYS to break it open).

On the other hand, for anecdotal example, one of my own friends actually had his home searched by the RCMP, and they were content with his storage setup, even though he was using a $99 Stack-On cabinet made of sheet metal.

Generally speaking, yes.

Exceptions:

Next time, if the vendor offers any shipping option other than Canada Post, run with that option. I've known better for a while now. This isn't Canada Post's first strike, so I almost always choose anything else (UPS, FedEx, Loomis, CanPar, etc.)

Hey /k/anada, I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but what are my best options for a non-restricted .22lr that's under $300? And are there any semi-automatics that are non-restricted? My .22 is more than 80 years old and it's showing its age in a pretty big way. If I can't get it repaired for less than a hundred dollars, I'm going to have to replace it.
>>
>>30440521
Most are non-restricted.
Savage 64
Used Ruger 10/22
RIA 10/22
Marlin 70PSS
Mossberg 702
AR-7

Tons of choice in your price range.
>>
>>30440536
Thanks! And if you think of any particular rifles that you'd recommend above the others, please do post them!
>>
>>30440521
Most semi autos are non restricted. If it has over an 18.5" length as a centerfire, and isn't named to a different category, then it's NR, such as the VZ58. Semi auto rimfires are also NR, at any length to my knowledge. For less than $300, I would suggest the Ruger 10/22, but I recommend you shop around.

10/22 is the gold standard for quality and aftermarket but they are kinda expensive here if you find one cheap grab it. (RIA clones are fine not sure if there are any new ones after they got sued)

The AR-7 and Marlin 70PSS are takedown pack rifles.

Savage, mossberg are just stupid cheap.

>>30440595
Does the stupid cheapness of Savage and Mossberg show up in their quality? I'll keep the 10/22 in mind, I see it mentioned a lot. A takedown rifle would be nice as well though, if only for having the option available.

>>30441338
It's a Mossberg Model 20 (pic not mine), made under the name "Wards Western Field Model 32A". Single shot, terrible one-piece trigger, no safety at all. This would all be fine, except that shells are no longer reliably sealing in the chamber and nearly every one fails to extract. I wouldn't even bother to bring it to a gunsmith if it hadn't been my grandfather's rifle. Sentimentality can be costly sometimes.
>>
>>30441474
Don't have a mossberg but the quality on my savage 64 and mk2 fine, where they really cheap out on is the stocks on the low end models they are pretty flimsy but its a 22 so doesn't bother me much.

I've avoided posting in some time, but I am continuing to experience an unknown delay in getting my RPAL renewed. It was renewed in December, a month before it expires. Come today, its been 6 months. Is there any rational reason this should be happening?

The 10/22 is my favourite, I got mine for $250 new. It's the most basic model, but the receiver is drilled and tapped and it came with a rail to mount on top of you want.
My only complaints are that field stripping it is a bit annoying and reassembly is a fucking bitch, and the sights (gold bead front w/ notch rear) are often hard for me to see

there are like 70 of these in the country. notice how they don't have stocks and the receivers were never configured for use in a rifle, only a pistol

if someone brought in .50 beowulf pistols then we could have 10.5 round Beowulf magazines that hold 30 rounds of 5.56. someone was going to bring in 500 of them but the RCMP raided his house and made up charges so he had to put it off. as far as I know none of the charges stuck because they were all bullshit.

Looks like those days are over. And that's also surprising, to hear that field stripping and reassembly are a real pain, I have come across those complaints for other .22s but never for the Ruger.
>>
>>30437113
>>30436205

A saw a price breakdown on reddit one time, cost for all the parts was about $1,600
>>
>>30445082
It's not hard to take apart, but it's a bit irritating in that it requires tools, removing the barrel band, etc.
But I hate reassembly. The recoil spring, guide rod, and charging handle are one weird piece that goes across the receiver, across the bolt, and it is a massive pain in the ass to get them back into place after removing them
>>
>>30445105
If they're decent-quality parts, and that price is in Canadollars, it's probably a little more expensive than a similar grade of Garand from the CMP. Of course that's only available to Americans anyways, but it might be a good reference point for cost.

>>30445219
Have you ever had a 10/22 Takedown? I wonder if they're a lot simpler and easier to strip and reassemble. At least the barrel band is out of the picture. But I'd definitely have to bloat my budget for it.
>>
>>30445424
I'd have gotten a takedown model if they had one at the time, but I've no experience with them.
Mine is just the basic carbine model with the hardwood stock
>>
>>30445424
A regular 10/22 will take down quite easily. Unscrew the stock, loosen the band on the forestock and it comes right in two.
>>
>>30445542
So then the field strip and disassembly/reassembly procedures are pretty much the same between the 10/22 and takedown model?
>>
>>30445581
I dunno, I've never held a takedown.

The barrel doesn't appear to come easily out of the regular 10/22, but the receiver is short enough that it doesn't matter for packability.
>>
>>30445424
the 10/22 takedown is actually no easier to disassemble than the regular 10/22. the only advantage is that you can break it down (as the name implies) and fit it under your driver's seat.

some cons on the 10/22 in general:
>trigger is shit
>stock open sights are shit
>included rail is shit
>beechwood carbine stock is meh; the concave butt is annoying to me
and some pros:
>very reliable when using good ammo (cough cough cci minimag)
>easy to disassemble, clean, and reassemble (>>30445219 needs to watch a youtube video)
>infinite customizations available

bottom line:
the stock gun makes a good plinker when shooting at 20 yards or less. you can get it down between 1 and 2 moa at 50 yards or less with a few upgrades (good glass, match trigger), providing you know how to shoot.

necessary upgrades would be an aftermarket picatinny scope mount (weaver brand is good) and an optic.
>>
>>30445752

>>
>>30443521
Elmira doesn't take members anymore, been full for two-three years now I think. Bridgeport looked okay, Galt is nuts though, if you want to use their full facilities it's something like 605 per year. Granted they're massive, but each section has its own entry list so it's near impossible to get in anyways. Guelph is full too I think. God I wish I had enough land to shoot on
>>
>>30445993
THE STOCK GUN MAKES A GOOD PLINKER WHEN SHOOTING AT TWENTY YARDS OR LESS! YOU CAN GET IT DOWN BETWEEN ONE AND TWO MINUTES OF ANGLE AT FIFTY YARDS OR LESS WITH A FEW UPGRADES, SUCH AS GOOD GLASS AND A MATCH TRIGGER! HOWEVER, YOU WILL HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO SHOOT TO ACHIEVE THE AFOREMENTIONED LEVEL OF PRECISION; THE TWENTY TWO CALIBRE LONG RIFLE CARTRIDGE IS PRONE TO INACCURACY CAUSED BY WIND DUE TO ITS LOW WEIGHT AND (RELATIVELY) SLOW BULLET SPEED!

They get a LAR magazine. That company makes AR pistols therefore their mags were designed for use in a handgun therefore they are 10 rounds.

Our magazine laws are fucky because they are based on how the magazine was originally intended to be used by the manufacturer, not how it ends up getting used. Which is fun when a company makes the exact same mag for two different guns. Example: semi-auto centerfire Remington 7400 (5 round limit) and pump-action Remington 7600 (no limit) take the exact same magazine. Remington made 10 round magazines and didn't mark which they were for, so all of those mags exist in a quantum state of prohibited and legal.

A guy from the NFA used to try to get himself arrested for possessing one but police and the CFOs refused to charge him.

do you get student loans? I live below what ever means are expected and so OSAP in combination with the bursaries/grants I get feels pretty generous, to the extent that the excess over the year just paid for my PAL+RPAL, USP, SKS, lots of ammo, and with more to come.

If that's not the case for you, then I'd still say be patient and wait until you have enough cash to buy the real deal. That's always more satisfying in the long run in comparison to what ever immediate but short lived gratification you might get over buying cheap shit/chink shit/clones.

I'm going on OSAP for the first time this year (year 5) so I might depending on how much I get. I already have a VZ58, Mosin, and Mossberg 500. My main issue is that I'm in Quebec so I'd have to get a range membership to get the transfer approved.

Soon maybe in Ajax.
Firearms Outlet Canada wants to set up a range, I am told.

One chink P226 costs half as much as a sig P226. I could buy the sig, or I could buy two chink pistols, one of them in 7.62x25. Or I could just buy one and have 400 dollars left over for ammo.

All these guns function flawlessly. It's not a pretend handgun. It is the real deal, the "real fake" if you will.

How are the Norinco 1911s? Decent shooters?

Also, what's a good, cheap 9mm starter pistol?

Lot's of people love the Norc 1911. Good shooter at a good price.

For a decent 9mm, check out S&W's SD9VE.

Worth it, love my 586
Looked at a new Model 66 as well, but I was too bothered by how unattractive it looked compared to older models
