what do you recommend? I can give this to my dad he uses Winchester in some of his pistols. He has a much larger collection of ammunition than I do so I can trade him for something else.
I have read 124 grain is the way to go with a px4 and that is what I got but I am open to other suggestions. I just got the gun so I haven't broken it in yet.

Is it an early model?
I'm asking because the first 9mm PX4 Compacts shipped with out-of-spec recoil springs that made them choke on lighter ammunition. Beretta fixed the problem immediately by sending out new recoil assemblies, but there are still a good number of pre-fix Compacts floating around. I was unlucky enough to rent one at a local range and it was a jammomatic with range ammo unless locked in a death grip.
For comparison, I've done a fair amount of shooting with the full-size PX4 and it goes through light ammo without issue. The platform itself doesn't have any known problems with range ammo - just the early Compacts do.

Negative, it's a later model. I suspected that might have been an issue but mine wasn't affected. The Px4 is just picky about what ammo it takes and it doesn't help Winchester makes utter garbage.

My Gen3 Glock 17 throws brass in my face with 9mm NATO, no malfunctions with it yet though.

What do you mean? It is not the prettiest gun in the world but I like its looks overall. Not as blocky as a glock.

Plenty of agencies have sent back and replaced Glocks, SIGs, M&Ps, etc for the same reason. It doesn't really mean anything. Plenty of large agencies still use all of the above, PX4 included, with no complaints. I see PX4s every time I go to Canada (the CBP carries them) and they have plenty of money and no reason to keep something that doesn't work.

Hey OP, I think you did OK. The px4 is a fun little gun, and you cant beat the price. Sure its not as refined as some other pistols but it shoots well if you got big hands. I just wish I could find some non cali mags somewere

the .357 has more muzzle velocity so I'd assume a bigger bang with sharper recoil, .38 I'd assume is a little more tolerable (My 5'1" fiance handles the .38 pretty well, so I'd assume even with girly hands you'd be fine)
