Here come the rich kids jacking each other off.
Talk me out of buying a guyslee
Do it faggot
Endangered panther leather over rhino horn
>It does the same thing except it costs 4x as much
>nobody says anything at the range I go to, but I can tell they'r pretty jelly
>sure glad I spent that extra $600 on a rail that none of my accessories can attach to
Oh yeah.
Who else /acog/ here?
>>30389405
worth the price? Looking into getting my first good optics but a 1x red dot + magnifier would be more flexible than an acog

I definitely would not recommend dot/magnifier combo. Dot gets huge, is heavy, takes up FOV ect...
I would recommend an ACOG. It's highly useful even at close range
should I get a t-2 or an acog? I rarely shoot past 100 yards
>>30389453
MRO
>>30389460
Yeah, but I think that the t-2 is a better optic

Is this a decent sight? I can get it for like 25 bucks.

My find is fucking blown, gents.
Latest pic I've got. Light has come off recently, and I've re situated the VFG, next up will be a GG&G short grip as this KAC it too damn thin.

>there are people in this thread RIGHT NOW that still use their A2 grip

>>30389405
AHOY!
>>30389539
its just memes m8, I had an aimpoint for a while anyways
>>30389524
It was heavy for one, I love the light but the pressure pad setup sucks. I was using some pressure pad kit to mount it to the rails and it fell off and I'm just like "No, I can't trust this". So I'm going back to just the standard tail cap I just haven't had time to fiddle with it to get all the positioning right. Plus with the GG&G grip I'd rather remount it once I have that in so I know I'm comfortable with the entire setup. I may get one of the those drop down rail attachements too. So I can grip the VFG with my left hand and reach under the handguard with my thumb to activate the tail cap.

Subsonic .300blk from a 16" barrel with a muzzle brake is quieter than any 5.56 load through a good suppressor on a 16" barrel, and subsonic .300blk through a 16" barrel with a good suppressor is well below hearing safe.

300blk is basically a 7.62x39 that works well in an AR. Basically just a necked up 223 case with a .308 bullet on top. Slightly better ballistics than an AK and carries more energy at distance than a .223. It suppresses very well and was designed to partially replace use of subsonic 9mm

>>30390623
It's a Gen2 Magpul mag. 30 rounds. I do have a few 10/30 round magazines though.
>>30390638
ARs can be purchased in California. I don't know where this misconception started. They are neutered, but purchasable. For the bullet button I have a small magnet I placed in the recess, that more or less functions like a regular mag release.
>>30390731
20 rounders are fine if you are a bench shooter, or otherwise just doing any long range shooting
I don't believe that bullshit about being "easier to maneuver in a vehicle" with respect to 20 vs 30 round AR mags. Though your piece doesn't look like it's designed for going in and out of vehicles easily anyway, so that point is moot.
>>30390747

ill gib u tree fiddy
>>30391260
What did he want for it, if you don't mind me asking?
Not looking to spend more than $350 since it would be replacing my lite iii.
>>30389405
Since before it was cool.
>>30391257
>>30391292
Deal.
>>30391242
Well, considering your mother paid me half of that after I punched her uterus, I think I'm doing alright.
>>30391282
My nigga, why would you buy a billet upper when you have that flashlight and mount?
>>30391292
Get out
>>30391270
Mro
>>30391293
He wanted my slim rail and a SOPMOD stock.
That's it
>>30391300
YEAAAAAAAAA
>>30391297
It was never cool.
>>30391305
I like the sharp edges; forged ones are too "curvy" for me. I can deal with the lower being forged, but I think billet uppers look a lot better.
The flashlight (and mount that came with it) was an el cheapo buy to just test the waters and see if I actually like having a flashlight. I do, so now I'll probably get a better one.
>>30391314
So $350-400, i fuck up everything i own so i don'thave anything to trade.
Thanks m8
>>30391266
That pa or vortex will be after the rail for me. Can't wait to shoot magnified.
I can afford the cheaper of the two now, should i get it or wait for the solar powered one.
also anyone have these ?
>>30391347
>use irons
>save money
>get at least an MRO or equivalent quality red dot
You would be doing yourself a favor.
>>30391347
Poor fags leave this place
>>30391325
Is there any way to get a DBAL to sit lower?
>>30391347
How about neither? Save up 150 more and buy an aimpoint.
I'll never get why people are willing to drop 100-200 on shit optics instead of just being patient and saving up for a good one.
Patience is a fucking virtue. Don't blow your money on cheap shit that isn't going to hold up nearly as long as good quality shit.
>>30391347
Buy a PA-MDS or a Vortex Sparc II (PA-MDS is a good bit better, I just got the Vortex because of aesthetics).
>>30389419
>magnifiers were alright once upon a time, but the advances in variable power optics have rendered them pretty much useless.
ask me how i know you're retarded
Am I Gucci now sempai?
>>30389405
If taxpayers were buying it for me, I'd take it. Otherwise they'd have to come down $800...
>>30391374
Ask me how I know YOU are retarded.
>>30391347
>>30391370
Don't buy a SPARC II.
I was incredibly nonplussed by mine for the price. Better off saving your cash and buying a proper Aimpoint.
It's only getting used on a friends SCAR right now until they buy a proper optic, then I'll probably stuff it on my AK or something.
>>30391374
In all fairness magnifiers do suck, at least the Aimpoint and EOTech labeled 3x magnifiers I've had or tried.
>>30391370
What hand guard is that?
>>30391333
From a functional standpoint, your upgrades should be; Light, trigger, optic, (muzzle device)
In that order.
Getting a nice upper will only add weight and cost without doing a single thing for performance.
Just a thought
>>30391336
I guess you could buy a slim rail for ~$220 on ebay and a B5 ~$80 on gunbroker, and trade.
He said he wasn't interested in money(????)
I'd want some kind of proof that he's sending it also.
>>30391388
Lookin good
>>30389542
i have one and have noticed this strain lately. what do you suggest as a replacement. must be od green.
>>30391361
Not that I know of on those Steiners, but I think the height is just right to clear a thumb or finger on the rail and still stay out of standard AR height sight pictures and magnified optics.
>>30389578
wish i could but i've never done an 80%
good luck anon
>>30391400
Does that dual Surefire R-07 switch work alright?
I'm wanting to buy one so I can use it for both my light and DBAL but I read about some people having issues with it because it's made for Insight devices.
>>30391424
>light
>functional
tripfags....
>>30391445
I haven't had any problems. The little DBAL plug doesn't seem to seat incredibly tightly on the i2, was not an issue if you managed your cables well, absolute worst case required a tiny press of the thumb to re-seat it 100%.
>>30391461
>I only shoot during daylight and/or on a public range
>I never intend to use my AR to defend life or property
Casuals...
>>30389346
Hey guys! Can I play too?
>>30391469
Yeah that's pretty much what I read, in more extreme cases it would come out with recoil.
I guess it isn't a huge deal. Nothing a bit of cord, tape, or clever cable routing wont fix.
Still shitty for a $100 switch.
>>30391488
You might as well, special snowflake intermediate caliber rifles are welcome in /arg/.
>>30391484
>Throwing away $200 is what makes me hardcore!
Idiots...
>>30391493
Want one for $70 shipped?
Can have it out priority with USPS Monday morning. Ended up putting NV on hold for a while and traded out the DBAL until I decide to jump back in. No use for the switch currently, paid $101 plus shipping when I got it.
>>30389501
Do you already own clamps? You may want to use thread cutting oil
>>30391513
>Throwing away
>I don't know what quality equipment costs
Go back to your trailer Jed.
SF brakes are here
woop
>>30391347
Just get a PA AD MDS. With 5 years of battery life per battery it is basically better than any gimmicky solar setup.
>>30391370
The SPARC II really does look cooler.
>>30391388
The answer is yes.
>>30391503
It's in 5.56
It's super special snowflake gun though. Love it. Not sub-moa, but fun rifle no matter what. Uses STANAG mags too.
>>30391526
>I'm going to use my light, honest!
>surely jamal will break into my house tonight and I'll be able to use the light!
>surely!
Most of /k/ is permanently in a state of "Dressed up and nowhere to go" but the austists in /arg/ when it comes to flashlights on the front of their guns take the fucking cake.
What other thread do you see people even CONSIDERING a "flashlight" on the front of their gun as even bordering-on-useful? None of them. It's purely a product of echochamber circlejerking within the worst threads on /k/
What would I be looking at price wise for an AR I'm California? I have $400 so far, is it cheaper to buy it already made or just pick and choose parts?
>>30391546
I use mine for shooting coons and cats
who else surefire lights here.
>>30391516
Interested, but I'm actually moving to a new city as of next week. Between address change and ~$4k in misc relocation expenses, now isn't a good time.
If you're still selling in a few weeks I'm down. You have a burner I can email?
>>30391569
you could use a real spotlight for that, though. A real one. 1 million candles. For 1/4th the price. That doesn't make your gun more front-heavy.
Flashlights have less to do with "function" on a rifle than anime girl keychains dangling from the buttstock or handgrip.
>>30391546
Are you new to firearms? Weapon lights have been useful, desired, produced and bought for decades on end. Companies like Surefire don't stay in business because their tools are useless.
If you enjoy low light shooting without night vision, a flashlight is a must. If you have a firearm that's main purpose is shooting someone who has broken into your house or is on your property, a weapon light is highly advisable. This is not even in the realm of tacticool, I sleep in my ballistic plates style faggotry. Weapon lights are simple and extremely useful tools.
Weapon lights also take a beating. Experience has proven folks like surefire and streamlight know what they are doing when it comes to protecting the internals and hard-proofing them. A billion dead chicom LED lights can attest to that.
>>30391574
In with mini-scout
>>30389542
Which grip did you get?
>>30391599
Link me to one
>>30391220
Straight outta The Shining. At least that's what I think of when I see that picture, but then again I can't help but think about Mark Larue spreading chemtrails throughout the atmosphere in his Cessna and the fact that we're all going to be in FEMA camps the second Hillary takes over the world. Keep dreaming big and never forget that jetfuel can't melt steel beams.
>>30391601
>huhr duhr
>autistic spergathon
>wah waaah waaaaah
Uh huh, yeah. Which is why you see all those AKs with flashlights duct-taped to them in middle east conflicts where they DO actually fight in low-light conditions? Oh, you don't see those? Why not? Because it gets you shot at? Yeah, it does.
Go shill your shit somewhere else, or at least buy banner space, you pay-per-post piece of shit.
>>30391393
>comparing an open sight with no eyebox to a variable which requires a specific cheek weld
magnification isn't the only thing that's different between a red dot/holographic and a 1-4, 1-6 etc
you must position your face within the eyebox on any variable power because it's a scope. using them is not the same as using a red dot in any way shape or form.
you were saying?
>>30391574
Have an E2D, had an X400 but sold it for $350 to some local PD guy. Well built, but too bulky and the laser wasn't useful enough to justify keeping it.
Got fucked though because the discontinued them so the value tanked. Was like $500 new.

I'm really not in a rush to do anything with it, but it can definitely go to someone who has a use for it if it will clean out of storage and recoup some costs. Just let me know on here if you shoot an email there, I'm bad about checking it.
I just want get my mini 4 out of jail and prob switch to a 14.5 barrel
>>30391637
>Shebenteen shebenty shix
>>30391640
Who is the delusional one talking about "combat" and war zones? I'm talking about grabbing an AR15 or sidearm when your door gets kicked in in the middle of the night and using the light to clearly identify the shadow you are about to shoot.
I get it, you're just retarded. Everyone point and laugh at the angry retard, just don't get too close, he's got that tard strength.
>>30391650
I like my weapon light more.
>>30391662
you the guy who shoots long distances with irons from last night? i do the same, we are very few and far between.
i started with my sks at 500 yards, learned a lot about marksmanship doing that. if you've ever shot an sks the trigger is horrendous with no discernable break.
>>30391681
Right... Can you link me a single case where a weaponlight came in handy during a home invasion where the kitchen light wouldn't have been better?
>>30391699
>muh kitchen light switch
why do you care if someone wants to have a flashlight on their rifle sperglord?
>>30391695
>I started my 7.62x39 gun at 500 yards
That's like starting your NASCAR driving with a model T
