what's accurate and what's crap as far as 7.62x39 rounds? I normaly just get the cheap stuff, and what ive read on other forums seem to be random musings by fudds. what does /k/ approve?

For me, golden tiger definitely beat the hell out of silver bear.
IDK if I could have seen the difference if I wasn't running optics.
I feel like an idiot for buying another brand, waste of money and frustrating from round 1-500.

Easily Corbon DPX.

Golden Tiger does have a boat tail and there's also Hornady V-Max 7.62x39.

Neither.

ok obviously not in the literal sence. I was asking what the bullet was based on in design

GT yaws really quickly, if that's what you're after.

Regardless of accuracy, x39 experiences 6 inches of drop at 200 yards. You don't need premium ammo to hit something easily at this distance. I would be more interested in high performance penetrators and expanding ammo.

No, you don't.
But there are literally brands like wolf that can't hardly hit 2000fps average from a 16in barrel while GT hits 2350.
I shoot out to 400 yards and I'm not going to pretend 15% lower velocity doesn't matter.

What accuracy can I expect from this? 1moa?
>>
>>30388404
does it still penetrate just as good tho as m43 styled cartriges?
>>
>>30388355
GT is basically M67

In the way it acts inside flesh, but the longer bullet probably makes it even nastier.

How is the golden tiger 5.45x39 compared to other brands? Yeah yeah, it's not about 7.62, I kniw.

GT has a shorter bullet filled up with lead instead of a massive airspace like the other 60grain commercial ammo. I feel like the 60gr ammo yawed better than my surplus ever did.
I've seen good things about GT otherwise, but I'm not interested based on the bullet type alone.

Steel cored ammo penetrates a bit better than lead, but it's nothing to write home about. But I'd rather have fast yawing bullets than steel core any day.
I don't get what people's obsession with penetration is when there's far more important factors to deadliness like yawing very quickly and overall quality of ammo leading to better accuracy and muzzle velocities.
I'd grab my le132-1b buckshot anyway if I had to kill someone in defense with a long gun, not 762x39. Most pellets would be minute of face even at 40 yards.

What are you using for? If you're just looking to shoot FMJ, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't recommend Golden Tiger.

If you're looking for accurate expanding ammo, the Hornady SST is about as good as it gets, barring some boutique Corbon stuff. Best I've done with the Hornady is just over 2" 10 round group shooting prone.
