That Charter Arms could handle +P for self defense just fine, would probably rattle it loose eventually. I'm not one to not test my self defense loads but the only acceptable modern 38 Special load is made by Buffalo Bore, and then only the +P will reliably expand in the bad guy. That thing ain't a Glock, is not going to blow up in the unlikely event you need it for defense.
