In terms of combat role, probably Tankers for heavy cavalry and Mechanized Infantry for light cavalry.
In terms of dash, there are many, many "Cav" units still around that keep the traditions alive (i.e. the stupid Spur Rides the US Army has)

Tbh the potential of cavalry on the modern battlefield always interested me. I read about Soviet cavalry units in WW2 that would basically act as light infantry, basically be able to head through areas too dense/rugged for vehicles, but faster than you could on foot. When there was trouble they dismounted. Horses really seem like the ultimate guerrilla tool.
