Wait for psa's Independence Day sale and you could probably get a rifle kit around $400. Add an Anderson lower and mbus rear sight and you should be under $500 depending on how much you can get the lower for

PSA, S&W MP can be around $600, Bear Creek, Armalite Eagle, and a few others. If your looking for something to just throw 5.56, you can't go wrong with a cheap Ruger American or a CZ 527. But if you're a poorfag like me, a .22LR is all you need for training at at 125 yards or below. Ruger 10/22, CZ 452, Marlin Model 60.
If you're going for longer ranges, get a CZ 452 or 455. You can get them with 25 inch or 28 inch barrels for extra velocity. Pairs well with a good set of optics.
