I want to get a gun, but I have only fired a gun once in my life, I have barely any idea how they work.
What should I get? How do I git gud a shooting? Give me a beginner's rundown.
I live in the US, so I should be able to get one without any problems.

Get a good .22 handgun for learning how to shoot. But if you need a defense gun get a 9mm. I reccomend a .22 SA they go for about $100 but an auto is good as well.
if you are just getting into shooting i would recommend a rifle, also they come with less paperwork

It's cheap to shoot and good for is learning or for plinking small critters I know it's overhyped but that's the one thing it's good for.
But it's an incredibly weak round and I wouldn't trust my life on it to take down anything bigger than a rabbit effectively
