how do i remove the rust?
>>30369351
Wd40 and sandpaper or steel wool
>>30369351
oil and steel wool, it may be too late for that knife though
Would kroil (penetrating oil) work?
>>30369351
Electrolysis.
>>30369368
Anything. The oil is only there to float off the iron oxide dust you're scraping off with the abrasive.
>>30369366
the original pic is pretty old
i stuck it in a wood log with a hammer for no real reason one day and it removed some rust
it doesn't seem too deep, does it?
>>30369463
should be cleaned easy with steel wool and oil.
any info on that knife? looks weird.
water pipe at the end of the grip?
looks like one could screw it on a stick to make a spear
>>30369351
You don't.
Just sharpen it. If they survive they'll at least get lock jaw
>>30369537
no info, but yes, you could screw it on something
probably a bayonet
"3/4"
>>30369351
>fully submerge it in vinegar for 24 hours.
>next day, take it out and rinse it off while scrubbing with a plastic scouring pad.(all of the rust will come off but it will have a patina..)
>if you dont like the patina use pic related to remove the patina. here is a link to its product page on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Super-Eraser-Rust/dp/B001DMX6OG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1466627021&sr=8-2&keywords=rust+eraser
"Pk" and "M"
it looks like the tip was added and isn't part of the bayonet

would be worth it to try and find out from what country/unit.
>>30369351
Don't do it. What you have there is the fabled stabbing blade of tetanus. It'd be a shame to ruin it.
>>30369351
lick it
there is a probability that it's hand made by,like, my grand-grand father or so and one of a kind
these welds concern me
>>30369796
It shouldn't, I'm unclear whether it's a forge weld or not because of the rust, either way it can be very strong
>>30369702
>>30369852
>>30369351
Soak it in Rust Reformer for half an hour
Then lightly sand whatever damage is left

electrolysis
>>30369351
Buy a gallon of this and a container that your knife can fit in and is watertight. Let it soak for a couple hours to a day, Remove, wipe down and enjoy your derusted stuff. IF there is any original non oxide finish on their it'll still be there when you are done.

Soak in a container of unsweetened pineapple juice. Check every couple of days and scrub with a stiff brush. should take maybe a week-ten days to remove active rust.
Buy 2l of coke and cut off the top. Submerge item inside cola water and let set for over night. In the morning enjoy a freshly cleaned item and high iron glass of coke.
>>30369596
Seconded
>>30369351
Electrolytic removal is they key to parts you don't want to remove material from with abrasives.

What if he's a Pepsi family kind of guy?
A gallon of cleaning vinegar is like $3. Plunk in some of that and let it soak for a few days.
>>30369547
It's called tetanus faggot
Try oxalic acid - used to remove iron deposits from mineral specimens, usually quartz.
>>30369351
I'm surprised nobody mentioned muriatic acid. Just dunk it in for fifteen minutes and you're good, anon.

soak it in vinegar and then take a steel brush to it
Stick it your thigh 35 times. Repeat as needed
>>30369351
its literaly a knife made out of metal pipe. i dont get it.
Soak it in boiling vinegar and clean with very fine steel wool. Rinse off very quickly after using steel wool
>>30369351
phosphoric acid aka rust converter, pretty safe
>>30370370
>Water based.
>Get rid of rust.
Nigga...
>>30376811

Soak it in coke for a couple of days
>>30376844
Water causes rust
Unlike you, I am educated.
>>30376961
Mexicans stole all my coke.
soak in vinegar overnight, rust should brush off with a toothbrush
>>30369351
Piss down the barrel.
>>30377138
i hope you're trolling.
>>30376811
>>30377138
what are you educated in, its clearly not fucking chemistry.
fuck man did you drop out of high school or something?
you do realize that 95% of all the solutions anons are posting in this thread are water based. the only ones that arn't are the guys saying soak it in oil and scrub it.

You think anyone is this dumb?
>>30377264
eh. if he was baiting for a response, hes a shit troll, where just going to call him a dumb fuck and move on.
>>30377174
I thought vinegar caused it? Or am I thinking of tarnishing brass? Fuck it's late.
>>30369463
Should have stuck it in your enemy's heart instead.

Everytime i got home from school and told my mom the things that happened, she allways answered "Anon i think these guys were joking. Nobody could possibly be this stupid."
They were not jokingly pretending to be retarded all day everyday, they really were.
So yes, i do believe that people can be this stupid, i've seen people that were dumb as a pack of bricks.
