What is /k/ ear protection of choice?
Peltor tacticalpro with the gel cup upgrade
I use double hearing protection. Foam plugs and Howard Leight Impact Sports.

I use the cheap thin electronic one that's always on sale, howard something.
Is the quietpro headset a good one? It's been recommended to me by a couple friends, but they're both milspec fags.

Not familiar, where does one find these?
>>30368846
Creamy white thighs, one squeezed tight against each ear.

This.
Sometimes I even supplement with a pair of foam earplugs because I'll still hear pretty well with the electronic ear pro.
Tinnitus won't be my companion later in life.

The headbands are total shit unless you're a microcephalic, though.

37 db (Browning Hearing Protector) is the second best NRR I've found so far
I recall seeing 39 somewhere, but I can't find it

Thats pretty good. How comfortable are they? I'm a sweaty bastard and comfort comes second to the protection offered.

How long does a box of their last?
33dB foam plugs + my over-ear headphones blasting tunes and providing a little extra isolation from muh bang bangs.

Isn't that the same as electronic muffs with a headphone jack?
>shoot guns in a vacuum
>sound can't travel in a vacuum
>no need for earpro
Leigh Impacts or just Surefire ear plugs.

come again?

These don't do noise-cancellation - they are just over-ear headphones for listening to music. Just by being over-ear they do cut a little extra sound on top of the foam plugs, which is why i use em.
Fairly new /hasguns/ and i already had those headphones and get foam plugs for free, so it's my way of having "electronic noise-cancelling muffs with headphone jack" without spending $$$ on a new pair.

I am not sorry.

one more time?
Would something like a 22 even require earpro?
>>30372194
Depends. There are some subsonic loads that, when shot out of a long barrel, approach hearing-safe levels of sound. The problem is hearing loss is comulative, ie. the more loud noises you are exposed to, the greater the chance of losing a specific frequency of hearing. It's like smoking; 1 cig probably won't give you cancer but a pack a day for a decade likely will.

peltor and plugs
shooting range ear muffs
ear plug are a bitch and a half for me to get in my ears

Is ear protection necessary? I've only ever shot outdoors and never worn anything. Getting my first gat next week and plan on taking it to a range for the first time. Is the noise indoors amplified tenfold or something? Also how is a smith and Wesson model 60 for a first gun? My grandfather has a similar looking revolver, 38, that I really enjoyed shooting, but I thought having the option for 357 would be nice as well

>Is ear protection necessary?
Do you not want to be deaf by 40?
>I've only ever shot outdoors and never worn anything.
Idiot.
>Is the noise indoors amplified tenfold or something?
You're in an enclosed space setting off explosions what do you think? All the ranges I've been to, outdoor and indoor, REQUIRE ear protection to even use the range. I've seen people told to leave for not wearing ear protection.
surefire EP7.

N-no need to be rude h-homie. I come for guidance, not ridicule. Will those foam plugs work for indoors? Probably still gonna not wear anything outdoors.

>don't have tinnitus
>one time have my ear blocked for some reason
>EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>goes away when my ear is unblocked
>literally afraid to do anything with that ear now

The foam plugs are good as long as they meet osha specs. This is 4chan vitriol is to be expected.
