Not OP, but yes to that here too. Seems like a waste to skip right to cutting them up and eating them, a little fucky-fucky between hunting and eating would make me feel like a true hunter that respects the earth and wastes no parts of the deer.

If you are going to hunt deer on several acres you get a .308 or .30-06 hunting rifle. Savage 110 is a good inexpensive rifle, Remington model 700 is more expensive but very popular.
If you are going to hunt squirrels in your backhard, get a .22 or .17 HMR.

For rifles, anything in 30-06/7.62x54r. Garand, M1903, Mosin, SVT-40. Buy surplus and clean your guns often, shouldn't have issues.
Get a 20 gauge and a 12 gauge for your shotguns. I'm not a shotgun guy so I can't recommend anything specific.
