Why are there so few 22-250s and 25-06s with a Mauser claw?

Ruger only has 2 22-250s with a mauser claw extractor, both laminate stock, they quit making anything in 25-06. CZ no longer makes anything in either caliber. Yeah theres always the Winchester model 70 and kimber bolt actions. But what the fuck happened to all the others?

220 Swift is better.

No idea.

>25-06 is better
Fixed that for ya.

223/5.56 is cheaper than 22-250 and you can get it in $500 rifle with a 30 round magazine.

25-06 has sort of always been an odd one out, which I unfortunately happen to like. For most people, it is too close to 270Win to bother with and ammo availability can be pretty poor in some parts of the country.

I never understood the hubbub about controlled feed versus push feed. They are both extremely well proven action types. For me at least it is not something I would base a rifle purchase on.
>>
>>30362273
If you reload without a crimp, CRF is nice.
>>
>>30362156
Because the Mauser claw is outdated and the pivoting Sako extractor is the future, pleb
>>
>>30362285
We're not talking autoloaders here, I don't know anyone crimping on rifles they are planning to squeeze accuracy from regardless of the action type.
>>
>>30362156
CRF rifles are more expensive to produce and people who buy guns are cheap asses. That's what happened to all the Mauser claw guns.
>>
>>30362285
if you're squeezing that much accuracy out, just single load it in which case the claw extractor doesn't work
>>
>>30362331
Dangerous game bolt actions all still use the Mauser claw extractor and controlled round feed. If absolute reliability in a bolt action is what you need there's no substitute for the claw extractor.
>>
>>30362403
Most of that is just due to people wanting to believe they are a Boer out on a grand safari so the entire class of rifles copies what they used.
>>
>>30362385
Yes actually it does. Takes more effort to close the bolt but it can be done, or you know, you could put the fucking cartridge into the magazine, lazy fuck.
>>
>>30362403
Except Sako

You've got no fucking clue, enjoy your remshit poorfag

Actually, what he says isn't that far from wrong. Had a Remington 700 short stroke when I was tryign to shoot a racoon. I ended double feeding the thing. Never had an issue like that with my Springfield, even when I tried.
>>
>>30362217
25-06 is better for deer (and 270 better still). 220 Swift is better for varmints.
>>
>>30362337
A light crimp is going to be common on dedicated hunting loads, namely to better seal the case and ensure the ammo isn't damaged in transport. When I did small runs tailored to a rifle, I would always ask if the ammo was for hunting or just target use. Hunting loads received a light crimp and would generally shoot within the limit of the rifle.

Personally, I would forego crimping on anything for my M77 and load at max length for the magazine, pushing the bullet into the case after it contacted the throat. My rifle also has excessive throat wear, which is part of why I did this.
>>
>>30362437
if you're slamming a Mauser extractor home over a chambered cartridge, you're going to break said extractor

And no, not all guns can, only ones with beveled faces
>>
>>30362473
True, its not good for the claw, but why you can't be bothered to put a round into the magazine is beyond me.
>Inb4 muh accuracy
If shooting from a bench at paper is all you're doing knock yourself out with that push feed
>>
>>30362464
Yeah, but .270 is a bitch to reload for. That's an issue with me.
>>
>why are guns in ex wildcat calibers no longer commonly stocked.

dunno OP.

That said, i still have like 5 boxes of 25-06 lying around after i got rid of my Remington.
>>
>>30362634
>dunno OP.
Not necessarily that, you can find ammo for both just about anywhere that sells ammo. And just about every gun store has a Browning or Rem 700 in both calibers.
>>
>>30362661
I sold my Rem because i had to pay a buck a round. (sometimes more) sure, it shot flatter than 30-06 but not a buck a round flatter.
>>
>>30362568
1. Do you have to reload? 270 is widely available.
2. Why is it so hard to reload 270? It should be no different than reloading anything else.
>>
>>30362473
>>30362529
Winchester Model 70 has a claw extractor, and the owner's manual says it's safe to close it over a chambered round.
>>
>>30362756
It is no different, phil is just severely handicapped in most things.
>>
>>30362775
I'm going to assume you have one of the newer ones? If so I'd like to know if it's worth getting one over a pre-64 model 70.
