Sup /k/
Which caliber is more versatile and the most common/cheapest besides the 5.56?
>>
>>30359627
I guess 300 blackout, even though it is a meme round
>>
.300 BLK is by far the most versatile of the three, given that it can use any weight .30 cal projectile.

If it can be loaded into .308 it can be loaded into .300 BLK.

Super sonic, sub sonic, ultra light, ultra heavy, AP rounds (M2 boolits), soft tips, hollow point, JHP, basically anything.

You won't find any of these except for 5.56 at a local walmart but it seems like most dedicated gun stores have .300 BLK on shelves ready to be sold but not the other two.
>>
>>30359627
i really thought 6.8 SPC was the cool new thing, but when 300BLK was introduced i was convinced of the meme. converted my AR and bought an aac cyclone. no regrets.
>>
>>30359627
Wolf is bringing in steel case bi-metal jacketed 6.5 Grendel now at ~$0.30/round. So that covers your cheap criteria. 300blk is absolutely the most well accepted and common of them though. Last I looked, even my local Walmart had it on the shelves.
>>
>>30359748
Just curious, but do you remember how much Walmart was charging for 300? My Walmart doesnt have it, I'm looking at ordering it online from Ozark ordnance since that's the cheapest I can find.
>>
>>30359779
I don't recall but they are usually more expensive that the other stores in my area. Last time I picked up 300blk local (usually order online) were some 220 subs from Academy for ~ $0.60/round

6.5 GRENDEL IS BEST ROUND EVER FUCK ALL YOU GUYS 300 AAC IS OVERRRATED SHIT I SWEAR I ONCE SHOT A HORN IN THE LEG IN IT KILLED IT WITH 6.5
>>

wtf anon
>>
I chose 300 blk because it was more available than the other wildcat rounds and I liked the idea of a light 30cal AR15. Ammo is usually about 75¢ a round since my range doesn't allow fmj. But my hunting ammo is about 60¢ a round since I just dome the hogs with an fmj. Once I get my reloading bench set up, I'll start saving money since I've been saving my brass...I hope.

Would a 300 have enough velocity to push an ap-m2 projectile to an acceptable velocity to be ap?
>>
>>30361311
No. M2 isn't really AP anyway as it's literally the standard for what any non garbage plate needs to protect against.
>>
>>30361355
True but its got great results stopping engines. I'm just curious if a 20inch barrel could do it.
>>
>>30359627
I have a bolt action in .308, and a .223 AR for coyotes/hogs. Any reason to even bother with the other calibers that fire out of an AR-15 upper, short of just to have something different?
>>
>>30361311
Doubtful, 300blk has enough trouble pushing 147gr M80 projectiles. Just stick with 110gr TSX for terminal performance and don't shoot at armored targets.

???

>>30361385
If your not into super quiet suppressed ARs, there is no point. It was the only reason that I went for 300 Whisper.
>>
>>30361385
That reminds me, I gotta get my Savage 10FPLE2 back out. I love that gun.
>>
>>30361457
his MCX was 300blk converted?
>>
>>30362703
Nothing but rumors so far. I haven't seen anything about the caliber, the MCX comes in 7.62x39, 5.56 and 300 blackout. But if it was blackout, that round will become much less of a meme round.

Get one of those if you're going special snowflake ammo

>>
>>30361387
What troubles does the 300 have with 147's? I've loaded thousands of 147/150gr bullets with lilgun, w296 and h110 without any issue in both a 10" ar pistol and 16" rifle. They shoot just fine for plinking.
>>
>>30361383
The point of 300 is to be effective out of short barrels. It's pointless and wasted out of long barrels.
>>
>>30366794
The question was in the context of driving the 163gr M2 AP projectile fast enough to defeat armor.

You are right that 147s are great for cheap plinking, but if you were seeking terminal performance, 300blk really needs a lighter projectile.
>>
>>30359723
I've seen .300 blk at walmart
>>
>>30360039
That's nice, honey.
