Like a FAMAS with Thermal sight and rapid-fire.
Trust me, I played battlefield which is basically the real life military.

There's literally nothing any better than the two.

They are both hallmarks of their respective country's ability to design and mass-produce a useful, effective weapon.

These won't disappear until how we do small arms makes a radical change. And even then...

There really isn't. Most modern assault rifles are just more expensive versions of one of those two designs.
>>
>>30342865
M16a1 and ak47s are obsolete, the m4a1 and akm74 exists.
>>
>>30342865
Because most of /k/ is enthusiasts and it doesn't matter how good they are, rather how much we enjoy shooting them

That's not an M16.

I notice you didn't say "all"

Was implying newer versions of the rifle are still pretty modern.
>>
I have yet to see a "superior modern option"
>>
The AK-47 is almost certainly inferior to modern AKs. The M4/AR-15 in its modern incarnation is pretty goddamned good.

>these guns are inferior to more modern options
Guns have been a pretty mature technology for about 50-70 years at this point. But I suppose there's been minor improvements in gun design since 1947.
For instance, there's stuff like the vz58 that does 762x39 better in a few small but very tangible ways, and it's arguably better than even modernized designs depending on personal preferences. And the ak itself has improved a lot from the design you'd see used in a basic wasr like OP's pic with slant brake. Just modernizing them to ak-74 features is a huge improvement in a person's shooting experience and makes it into a damn fine rifle.
And I'd argue that a base ak-74 style gun in 556 is preferable to an AR to some people like me, so long as you aren't the type that is looking to take advantage of precision optics. AK's aren't exactly built around that.
Otherwise I think it's damn hard to beat an AR as a 556 rifle just for all the shapes an AR can come in, tailored to a user's exact desires.

The AUG shits on both of them

It's stamped steel and uses a short stroke gas piston.
It was literally designed as a "good enough" rifle for countries that couldn't afford M-16's.
