Where does a man learn to shoot guns when all he's ever fired was a .22 revolver, has no friends that shoot and can't afford the classes?
>>

The military.

Start on youtube with Jerry Miculek. Avoid old military tapes on how to shoot, they're cool as fuck but teach old and out-dated shit that you'll have to unlearn.
>>
>>30336131
Yeah but I've never fired a rifle before, is the recoil going to send the gun flying out of my hand? A .22 felt like a BB gun so...
>>
>>30336146
No, the rifle is not going to go flying out of your hand, that's a total myth. It's long and boring but this video will help you with the fundamentals of marksmanship, and it's actually up to date current info. If you want to be entertained at the same time then you'll have to find your own source.

Like, firearms tactics? Or just shooting in general?

I bought a mauser m48 and just started shooting with it. It's not rocket science.

If you're looking for tactics, the Ar/k/ has a thing in it for that i think
>>
>>30336070
If you can't afford a class. You can't afford to shoot
A good day of shooting will cost you over a hundred dollars
>>
>>30336443
"A good day"? So how the fuck can so many people afford to shoot? Wtf I hate guns now

Get a gun chambered in a very common round first, like 9mm for handguns, or 22 LR or .223/5.56 for rifles. 1000 rounds of steel-case ammunition (don't believe the "steel-case wears down guns" meme.) will run you a little over $200 last time I checked, and an entry-level AR-15 can cost as little as $500 if you look hard enough. Range trips can vary. I own enough land to shoot on, and do it often, so I could go shooting and only expend ~100 rounds of ammo. A good tactic for ammunition would be to buy a small amount (20-50 rounds) with every paycheck. I started doing that when I was 16 working a minimum wage job and had more ammo than I knew what to do with.
>>
>>30336474
Yup.
And that's assuming you're shooting just 9mm

>>
>>30336581
Literally this. Stop being a faggot and just buy a gun. It isn't that hard.
>>
>>30336474
On average I spend $500 when i go shooting.
But I also don't shoot often. I only go like 5-6 times a year.
>>
>>30336070

Videos and NRA courses. Then practice.
>>
Jesus Christ, do people actually find it hard?
1. Buy gun
2. Buy ammo
3. Shoot
4. ???

Are you guys trying to get this kid to kill someone?
>>
>>30336667
This. I'm so fucking new to guns.. The last thing I want to do is hurt someone.
Do you think I could ask an employee to show me how to shoot? Or will he kick me out for not knowing how to gunz?
>>
>>30336719
Just lurk on k, you'll be fine

And know these rules
>don't point the gun at anything you don't want dead or broken
>always assume it's loaded
>keep the gun pointed downrange
>keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot

It's simple stuff. And learn to clean your gun
>>
>>30336474

Calm down.

You can shoot a few bricks of .22 and be out for hours without spending $100.
>>
>>30336719

Keep your booger-hook off the trigger and keep it pointed downrange.

Hold that shit right and don't try any cowboy shit.

There ya go.
>>
>>30336719
just read the manual, it will explain, if you don't understand anything, look up gun on youtube

Many /k/ommandos' first experience with large bore firearms was buying a $80 nagant back in the day, spending a few hours cleaning the cosmoline grease out of it, then taking it into the woods/desert and shooting it. It was more familiarization and training than most WWII Soviet conscripts. The conscripts who weren't shot by Nazis survived and so did many of /k/ommandos (like me).

You like SFKM?

Shooting might be out of your budget for now.

Its an expensive hobby. Not as insanely expensive as horses, boats, and planes, but its up there.
>>
>>30336762
THIS was gonna say this, that's #1 on how not too kill anyone.
>>30336070
So do you know like anything about different calibers and cartridges? Actions tyles?
Also kindaaa this
>>30336292
>>30336581
I'd go to a gun store or pawn shop and get a .22 either lever, bolt, pump, w/e, get some bullets and go to a range. Like others said watch YouTube, take a hunter safety course should be cheap and that was the first time I shot a pump. Guns are roughly similar with in a class (bolt etc) but there are differences in take down, safety etc, gun should have a manual or check Internet if bought used and you don't know
I'm po and don't go as often as I'd like, but it not as expensive as some people's alcohol/weed habits so...
>>
>>30336070
Also don't do this skip to 15sec

If you really want to learn to shoot, look for an "Appleseed Shoot" in your area. They teach you how to do it for real and safely.

Save a months worth of cigarette money.
Spend on guns.
>>
>>30336719
I did literally this. I went to the LGS when I turned 21. Said "I'd like to learn to shoot, but I've never shot anything other than a .22".

LGS employee took me back to their range and put a S&W M&P 9mm in my hand, taught me to shoot. I ended up renting another gun after that, shot a few boxes, spent maybe $50. Came back a few weeks later and bought my first handgun from them.

That's really all there is to it. Any store worth it's weight will teach a newcomer how to shoot, as there's plenty of potential money in it for them.

learn how to use open sights with a spring air soft gun
join pistol club and find that real pistols have a lighter trigger pull

attend RSA small bore to learn about closed sights and blinders
also about prone and recumbent firing positions

three gun club if you want to handle carbines and shotguns
there are also skeet clubs but they are more pricey

then once your shit is together you have friends with farm land who you can go on hunting trips with
pig and deer sometimes rabbit and goat

as for gun ownership it depends were you live as to how much it is not worth it/a pain in the ass
