According to some recent information I've been analyzing a Christian secret society called the Underground Church have developed one.
Overall the information at 4224doctors.blogspot.com takes about 16hrs to fully understand. There are threads on ATS, Reddit, and /x] about it. I for one believe the information to be credible. Your name is "Dan" if you don't intend on visiting reddit. It's related to a cryptographic propaganda material the Underground Church has been fingered as producing: 11BX-1371.

In strict terms of weaponry and the R&D of a biological weapon of this magnitude - a airborne pathogen thats more contagious than the common flu and more deadly than Ebola.. Is it possible for an elite, well funded, group with the man power and financial holdings to produce such a virus?

Even developing such a weapon would require a level-4 containment facility with test specimens (animals & humans) and a disposal system. There are few facilities that are publicly known, so my question to you /k/nights is: is it really possible?

Heh, luckily it's not a full time job. I'm a student and do research on the side. Worst part is coming in when experiments occur in 12 hour increments. Nothing like trying to liquify an agar at 2AM, waiting for it to cool, then having it resolidify when it's cool enough for the bacteria to survive in.

Mad respect for people who do that their whole lives. I'd go insane

What is this kind of faggotry?

First I don't doubt that the christian church has many resources, but considering the amount of division between sub-groups of the chrinstian church, they probably lack a decent amount of organization especially considering that they are a secret organization.

And to this point they probably know that biological warfare is hightly unreliable and very propense to backfire to them.
The lack of control you can have over a pathogen and the propensity to mutate of most viruses make biological warfare one of the most unreliable tipes of warfare, that is the reason most countries prefer chemical warfare over biological warfare.

Anyways "making a virus" is completely stupid due to the hight complexity of those organisms, not to mention the unholy amount of resources it would take.

They probably wasted their money already on a sark pool and laser dissection table because this is some spy-movie tier bullshit.

Next time say that they put hidden nukes on all england, that way I can believe you atleast for a few seconds.

OP, if you have this level of casual interest in infectious disease, consider studying into it! I said it was boring earlier, but I'm needy of human interaction in my work. Infectious disease and Immunology are fascinating fields that have been developed so much, but there's SO much more development to go. You can work in level 4 labs with the CDC if you show enough promise to them, or maybe mapping disease as an epidemiologist is more your thing? You can also become an infectious disease specialist (physician) and combat infectious diseases directly. Antibiotic resistant bacteria are on the rise in hospitals, and in a few decades they could outpace the number of cancer deaths [in hospitals? I'll have to check projections again].

My interest in disease started with games like Pandemic. It can start from somewhere silly like a game, and grow from there. Seriously, if this is your interest, go for it. Don't just let it be a dream.

They're pretty strict on safety here after a girl exposed herself to a more toxic strain of E coli while she was working. Organ failure and months in a hospital but she pulled through. Although they're pretty tight on safety, they're a bit behind on inventory. I'm using antibiotics from 1985 in my experiment (luckily fresh supply arrived).
>>
>>30332231
I didn't read it in full, but someone who goes at such length to write fiction about infectious disease MUST have some minor interest in it.

It's sort of like ""hacking"". Media depicts it as an edgy goth mashing the keyboard at lightning speed, teaching the "funny men with the money and power" a thing or two with 1337 advanced worm GUIs or some BS like that. I want to encourage people to expand their knowledge beyond that and maybe even consider it being a field. He writes about disease in stories, but maybe he can make his interests in it a reality and research the diseases in person.

Uhhhh, no I'm swinging by from the shithole of /int/ because I'm bored. Lt. Dan I don't have time to read about fictitious underground cults (I type this as I waste my time on 4chan). I'm just trying to encourage you to learn more about the science you keep bringing up. Your entire post was nothing but edgy buzzwords.

>a girl exposed herself to a more toxic strain of E coli while she was working. Organ failure and months in a hospital but she pulled through.
Wow

Really makes you appreciate how diverse these bacterial "species" actually are. We literally need E. coli to function but there's strains out there that will rape your body. And other E. coli that don't matter to us at all.

The Lt. Dan is like the most obnoxious shitheads I have ever seen in a thread. It's like pure holier than thou, mixed with snide remarks and and an ego they don't deserve. Someone comes in the thread and takes the time to challenge him to expand his horizons, stop writing broken unorganized and downright shitty fanfiction and make something of his life and what does he do? Insult him. Truly a sad world we live in.

You type like you're on the wrong website. This isn't facebook, this isn't the new gay youtube comment section, this is fucking /k/. You're on a dead board on a dying site full of people that hate you. I'd hate to see a fucking newfag posting like this on full-chan, you'd probably kill yourself over the fallout

Grow a thicker skin, this isn't a place to be coddled. All those posts telling you to leave is Dan dropping his name and Samefagging you, because I'm pretty sure he didn't know you can check the stats for a thread.

Don't try to help the mentally disabled. Nothing you say is going to get him to drop his childish tactics and grow the fuck up. Let him continue to write fanfiction and play spy or secret society or whatever, just don't let him bring that shit here, this is /k/, not his blog.

>Your name is "Dan"

Dan Brown by any chance?

> a airborne pathogen thats more contagious than the common flu and more deadly than Ebola..

It's called pneumonic plague, and has been around for centuries.

>to produce such a virus?

Because bacteria isn't as cool a buzzword.

>Even developing such a weapon would require a level-4 containment facility with test specimens (animals & humans) and a disposal system.

Reinventing the wheel for the sake of reinventing the wheel. Pick a known killer and you won't have to do any tests of the effects.

>>30332317
At one point, when DNA sequencing was the new hotness, some people thought we should start drawing the liens between species based on sharing more or less than X% of the genome.

This was abandoned once people started discussing what a good number for X would be. The microbiologists IIRC thought 70% was good number, which would have made "mammal" a single species (and we share about 60% of our genome with the common fruit fly), whereas the 99% we'd need to keep the primates apart would probably give you a few million different species of E. Coli in a single stool sample.

>>30331391
Contagiousness and deadliness kind of counteract each other, because the longer the person walks around thinking they're not sick enough to stop walking around, the more it will actually spread.
Most infections can be handled by the human body within 7-14 days; 7 days is about how long it takes for your body to produce antibodies that work to completely clean out your body of disease (nk, lymphocytes and macrophages can't do the job on their own usually, unless it's a very minor infection like a skin cut). Truly deadly diseases are deadly because they overwhelm the body BEFORE a person can get treatment or their body can adapt. Ebola can be beaten, but it does so much damage to the human body so quickly that people usually die before it's out of their system. And most people notice this and quarantine them. Anthrax kills in a similar way if it gets into the lungs, and avian flu actually kills by reproducing so much the immune system freaks out and goes into shock
